So what, Q is gone. Look at the facts.
-HE IS NOT THAT GREAT PEOPLE. He's not the same Q he was 5 years ago with Warner and Fitz
-He had one very good postseason for us and now everyone thinks he megatron or something.
-His regular seasons have been average at best for us. Can you really rely on him to go off in the postseason every year, especially when...
-He is turning 33 and on the decline, if not already.
-His cap hit his 7 mil this year, Flacco's is only 6.7. Flacco IS NOT THE REASON WHY Boldin left.
-We were going to let Boldin leave anyway, why not get something for him.
-Now with all this cap room, we can retain more of our players, like Reed and Ellerbe and Pitta, and make sure rising stars like T SMITH stay. We can now even make a big splash in free agency.

Yes, i loved Q. And i can not thank him enough for what he did for us. But he is replaceable.

man, this is a good post. Boldin is 33, he can't continue forever. I will miss Q, but his cap number was huge this year, and Ozzie is going to get younger as a team so that we can continue to compete for years to come.

Anybody who really likes Doss please tell me why!! From my point of view he does not get
really open and his hands are really suspect. I would rather see Williams step up...

Big mistake that will come back to bite us. Seems we don't mind severely overpaying for a chosen few, but let Q leave? Stupid move that time will prove it to be.

Q had 65 receptions.... 32 of them were 3rd down plays for a first down

Macamillion... you're wrong when you say he's average at best. "Q" is quality in so many ways.

I am definitly going to keep an eye on the player we get with the 9ers 6th round pick and see how he pans out for us. See if he even makes the roster or if he is 1 of the first to be cut.

im just sayin...there were 200,000 fans at the stadium for the celebration. $5.00 from each of us to keep Q here where he belongs.
[/quote]

I should have come to realize when people lead into a statement with "I'm just sayin" I should just stop reading at that point.

This isn't baseball. You can't just give money to players. No matter where it comes from - you can only pay to the cap.

Sorry, the team can't run a bake sale to keep players.

too many that do not understand the cap relief this trade created... we all love Q... we also love being competitive every year and not cap strapped like our rivals

What's the point of that? Look, I know it leaves a bad taste in our mouths, seeing the guy that was instrumental in bringing the Lombardi get kicked to the curb, but you can't just the move by the pick.

The pick itself was just a salvage. It's not like that's why we moved him. It was all about the cap and he was getting released anyway, so you get what you can.

If you want to set yourself up for complaining about the move, let's see if we retain Ellerbe and Reed. If they fail to help us, then complain. Its that - or whatever else we may do with the cap space - that and seeing what Boldin does in SF that will be a deciding factor on how wise a move this was.

Anquan I will forever be greatful for everything that you've done for Ravens Nation. Although you were not with the team very long, you will go down as a Ravens legend and you're one of my favorite Ravens of all time. You gave my family and I an experience of a lifetime by allowing us to touch the Vince Lombardi trophy, and for that I am forever grateful. We wish you well and hope you retire as a Raven...always a Raven.

Ravens Nation! We will move on..we will survive...we will be champions again. Every year we question the decisions of Ozzie and our front office, but every year those decisions tend to work out for the better of the team, whether short term or long term. Our front office and the decisions that they've made (draft selections, free agent acquisitions, cuts, trades, etc..) are the reason why the Ravens are the 2012 champions. I know it can be confusing and hard sometimes, but we have to trust our organization.

either way, I will always be a boldin fan...very depressing to see him go. I truly don't believe he is replacable. And, I know we wouldnt have our second title without him.

Needless to say a lot of people are just pissed off and I understand it's a business but when do people just start doing what is right. Anquan wasn't asking for more money, he just wanted what was due to him. I don't think he should have been asked to take a 2 million$ pay cut. Tadon Doss come on, no real productivity, there are other players that could have gone to free up that 2 million. I know he's 33 but so what, he still have a few good years left and then when he retired on his terms, it would have been all good. The ravens became the first team to terminate a productive player averaging almost 100 yards a game & after winning a super Bowl on top of that letting him go to the team they played against I'm having a hard time with this one for real. I really don't think Boldin will fit in with the 49ers because mentally it wasn't his decision to go to this team. Not liking this move and I hope Ozzie and John and all the top brass read these posts because it's crazy to let a gem like that go. Best wishes to Boldin but I was hoping I would wake up this morning and this would have been just a bad dream. It's a cut throat, doggie dog business probably worser then the music industry. Boldin you will always be A raven in our Hearts--

those decisions only worked out the last five years I can guarantee it'll be another 6-8 before we become contenders again. Ozzies gonna clean till the tile comes up.

We all agree...the salary cap sucks.....or do we?
If every team could spend whatever they want, do you think we could be as competitive as we are? The Ravens do well because they are SMART! They make the moves that they have to make, for the good of the team. Losing Q broke my heart, but keeping him at a price that would degrade the rest of the team isn't smart, either. So, despite all of the talking heads on TV, who made a smarter deal: The Ravens trading Boldin because they knew they could not keep him....or the Steelers who cut James Harrison outright. Ozzie got us 2 Super Bowl Championships.....gotta trust that he knows what he is doing.
