We actually have the cap to bring in a guy like Jake Long, I know a lot of people think he is overrated, but when healthy he is an absolute beast. If we could sign him to a long term deal at like 10M per year we could then use the draft to get a WR, LB, Safety, DT etc..

Having some actual cap space for once is odd.

We can bring in a injury prone LT and lose Reed and Ellerbe? sounds like a terrible deal...

We gave him a high tender, no one will touch Pitta. As for Jake Long, while his injuries have been a concern it doesnt make him injury prone. When healthy he is the best in the game, and we have no bigger hole than at LT. Maybe Long isnt the answer, but this cap space gives us the financial means to bring in someone to man that spot who isnt a turnstile.

I agree but he's not worth that 6-7mil Max BC we would lose either a valuable FS or our only LB that hasn't. Been injured in a year it seems with starting experience

My talk about Flacco was sarcasm. Boldin is a solid WR. He getting old. We can upgrade

As good as Boldin was in the playoffs - and he was spectacular - the play of our OL was every bit as important.

I suspect addressing LT is Ozzie's #1 concern, and I'm cautiously optimistic that we will be able to address LT in FA now.

With a plethora of draft picks (12 now?) we'll be able to address most of our needs throughout the draft.

True, once everyone saw what he did to Champ Bailey, no doubt every team will put safety help over the top on his side. We don't have anyone who is like Megatron or Fitzgerald that can burn double teams and bracket coverage. Also our other WRs haven't shown much to take the load if Torrey and Pitta are taken away.

Ozzie will find someone in the draft that can develop into a productive, or even a potential #1.
