What are the odds of James Harrison being a Raven?

201 posts in this topic

He's not coming cheap - he left the Steelers because he wouldn't play for cheap.

Not a snowball's chance. Although, imo, he was their most dominant defender and the only one that had me really worried when we played them - he almost always seemingly had Joe/Oher's number for a strip-sack.

we can hardly manage our own free agents, don't think we have time to worry about Mr. Dirty-Play McPrimadona right not.

Not a great pass rusher anymore.......

If it were Woodley, Id take him in a heartbeat regardless of the remarks towards Flacco
Even at 35, if healthy of course,Harrison is still a better pure pass rusher than Woodley. To say Woodley had the "Suggs effect" that Kruger benefitted from is a massive understatement. Harrison in that 4 year window he started with the Steelers was absolutely devastating.

we had him before?
Yepp. He sat on Pitt's PS for a couple of years. Was cut, then signed by us. We sent him to NFL Europe before cutting him and then he found his way back to Pittsburgh. He wasn't smart enough to pick up an NFL playbook and had a poor attitude to the point where he was un-coachable.

Don't want him. Spent too many years hating him to see him in purple and black. Not to mention he's 34 and not very good anymore, and too expensive.

1) The Browns have more money to offer him and will beat out any contract we're willing to offer.
2) James Harrison is from Ohio and would love to return home and play for his hometown team before he retires.
Harrison was finally cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers and almost immediately — as if out of spite — said he was open to playing for the New England Patriots. Harrison backed off that statement later in the day but he changed out Patriots and replaced it with Browns as Harrison’s agent has expressed an interest in his client playing for Cleveland next year.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Harrison’s agent Bill Parise said he thinks his client is a “good fit” with the Browns and could see him playing there for Ray Horton in 2013. But despite being a nemesis for the Browns in the past, going as far as to concuss three of their players in recent years, Harrison is actually not a bad fit for the Browns.

Harrison is an Akron native and went to college at Kent State, so he does have ties to the Cleveland area. There’s also the Ray Horton connection as before becoming the defensive coordinator with the Cardinals and now the Browns, Horton was a defensive assistant with the Pittsburgh Steelers while Harrison was with the team."
Yep, was cut by the Ravens early in his career.
Was cut by the Steelers too, he took a long time to get to the level he reached

For those of you who say zero chance, C'mon Man! Put your Fan pride aside for a second. The reason every one hated him was because he was on our most hated rival and was also Joes worst nightmare some games. Sure he is very outspoken, but like Suggs, he's one of those guys you love to have on your team, and love to hate if he's against you. I could see this move happening if he doesn't command top dollar. http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000149266/james-harrison-expresses-interest-in-joining-ravens/

Your last statement is why I feel there is zero chance. I think he still wants to be paid well and probably will from a team like the Browns. Not sure we are that team. That's all. I wouldn't mind him here as a player. He is a good football player. You are right. But I think he wants the $$$ and feels he is worth more than 5M a year. We just can't afford that, I don't think.

Meh, think it's reasonable that your dislike is more the fact that he was a Steeler? I'd love to have him play for us. Why wouldn't you want a dominant pass rusher who can also lay down the law against the run? Only thing is he's older and will demand a decent contract
He's dirty and has a piss-poor attitude.
His Sports Illustrated interview was horrible and the cover showed what a butt he is.

I'd take him for the right price, I mean he's a better pass rusher than Suggs and Upshaw so theres that.

Also It would be hilarious to watch him beat up Ben for a few years.

I'd be happy to take him for the right price. I mean, assuming we cut Boldin, I'd rather resign Harrison, Mckinnie etc.. ie cheaper options than overpay Ellerbe or Kruger.

That in of itself would be worth the price of admission lol.

If he somehow accepted a reasonable deal for a 35 year old linebacker who's skills are declining, I'd be all for it. But he wouldn't be a starter here and shouldn't get starter's money, which is what he'd no doubt be looking for, so I don't see it happening. He's still an effective pass rusher though, and with Kruger most likely gone, wouldn't be the worst option out there if the money is right.

I wouldn't be opposed to him coming in if he is truly healthy, but as others have said he was just cut for not taking a paycut off of his fairly significant salary in Pittsburgh, there's no way he comes here for what we would offer him based on that fact.

Don't be so sure... Just because someone wants x amount of dollars doesn't mean they will receive it. Harrison will be one of those guys who stays on the market until he brings his asking price down. Especially being almost 35 years old. Teams love to overpay the Krugers and other young pass rushers, but Harrison at 35 screams 2 or 3 year cheap deal.

Wrong. He most certainly is NOT one of the guys I would love to have on my team. There are players I would have loved to have on on the team, even some that are Steelers, but Harrison is not one of them. The guy is a dirty player. There is no place for him on the team. Let him go to the Raiders. They appreciate that type.

Money seems to be the biggest issue as to why I don't see it
Then if he thinks he should start I don't see why over upshaw
Attitude, desire, and revenge on Pitt make it tempting to me
But he is no spring chicken
