Anquan Boldin Traded to the San Francisco 49ers

1,400 posts in this topic

Ozzie is doing what he always does, waiting and building the best team possible by simply being patient.

It's a fact. I think after you win the Super Bowl, the FO deserves 100% full confidence from its fans. We just need to continue to support the team and KNOW that our FO's #1 goal is to build the best team possible for both the short & long run.

I could catch passes against the Browns and Raiders. I need him to show up against real teams

 No, you couldn't. I'm guessing you didn't see either of the catches or remember any of his other grab during the season either. Like so many others, you simply wrote him after his drops against the Colts.

I'm sorry to see him go but I'm glad he helped win us a championship and I'm happy for him that he's going to a contender. We now have 12 draft picks. I doubt we will sign 12 players. Eight of those picks can be traded. I wouldn't be if suprised if Ozzy trades a package of picks to move up in round one to grab a left tackle or a receiver.

6) The fans who just blindly trust whatever the Ravens do, and say you aren't a true fan if you question moves are annoying.

You can speculate on the merit of moves made by the Ravens brass, but the fact is they know much more about personnel decisions than you or I. Blind trust? I call it depending on the subject matter experts to make the right decisions.

BOOOOO.

1) A 6th rounder? Come on!

2) Boldin is still a beast. It's no coincidence that we got rid of Cam and Q started beasting.

3) It's lame to get rid of Anquan over 2 million. Leach is much more replaceable and makes 4.5.

4) Nobody on this team is ready to be a #1 WR or be the leader of the WRs.

5) We better keep Ellerbe now.

6) The fans who just blindly trust whatever the Ravens do, and say you aren't a true fan if you question moves are annoying.

1) A 6th round pick is a steal, the Ravens were going to cut him because of the salary cap situation and even though he had a great season, he is still on the wrong side of 30 with $6 million cap hit.

2) I believe we will get Ellerbe and Reed

3) The fans who have patience and wait until after free agency to see what the Ravens do with the extra cap space are actually smart and understand that, we won the superbowl because we have a Front Office lead by Ozzie that makes the tough decisions and makes them work to our advantage.

4) The fans that are going nuts because a player that is probably retiring next year was traded to clear cap space for the future and actually got a pick no matter how low in my opinion are very ignorant. They are sitting in their tiny cubicle at work saying "What is Ozzie doing??????" (idiot voice) instead of actually thinking through and realizing that we have the best GM in the NFL, he might have a plan.

5) Judge after free agency and even the Draft not when the trade was just made and you have no clue what the organization will be doing.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure this trade is great for SF, honestly. Boldin is basically a slower version of Crabtree. Kaep has a rocket arm, but will he be able to deliver the ball to Boldin in tight coverage? And I love Q, but he's gonna lose every battle against SEA's corners.

I'm sure I saw them since I watched every game, they just weren't memorable. I've seen him catch a pass before but nothing I didn't think any other WR in the NFL couldn't have caught.

Haven't seen any signs of him being the next Boldin

Were'nt we supposed to implode last year when we lost Grubbs?

Boldin was gonna be gone in 2014 anyway. We're basically accelerating the process.

I hate that there's no backup plan right now but that's why it's only March 11th.

Better out that 6 mîl to use. I absolutely hate him going to San Fran though, that one could come back and bite us big time

Better him in 'Frisco then,N.E,Pitt or Denver.

I was just starting to be okay with the 49ers after how crappy their team/fans were after the Superbowl. I'm okay with Anquan going there - but if Reed goes there, I will hate them on a whole 'nother level.

I never claimed they were catches no other WR could make but they are examples of him making plays, something folks like to pretend he's never done.

He's not the next Q. But he's got the talent to be a solid WR if given a shot. And at this stage in theirs careers, I can't imagine he'd struggle getting open more than Boldin.

I guess we can book 0-16 then.... We may have enough money now to go get Jake Long or Greg Jennings, but we still suck.

To be fair, our O line pretty much sucked until we were able to move KO into his spot. Losing Grubbs did create some issues.

Good quote from Rosenthal on NFL,com;

"Newsome knows that popular decisions usually aren't the right ones."

You know, with the newfound cap space, we are probably going to heavily persue a big name FA. Someone who is worth 6 million a year (Jake Long? Barwin? Hell, maybe Greg Jennings).

We won this trade, and here is why.

Boldin is going to suck in SF's Offense.... .They do not have a burner to help him do his thing and take pressure off of him.

Kap plays in an offense where he only throws to Crabtree....

Oh, and Q might retire, leaving them with nothing.....

We also win bc, we get to resign most of our own players, and possibly get to persue a big name FA......

It's us vs the world again... Bring it

Vernon and Mario can open up for him and Crabtree. He'll also help run blocking. I do like the extra cap though. There has to be a plan or they trust the guys they have. Either that or they just didn't really see it being worth it to pay Boldin this close to thw cap with key cogs being needed. He also wasn't in the future olans of the team and isn't as much of a need as Reed.

Actually on second thoughts, why the hell didnt we just cut leach and his salary and then keep boldin for the year? Leachs saving would be more than the 2 mil pay cut they asked boldin to take?

Why pay your QB 120 and then ask his main WR to take a 2 mil pay cut, while you are paying a fullback who sees 30 percent of the snaps about 5?

Doesn't make sense to me, haven't the just contradicted their philosophy here? Pay the QB, then keep the overpaid run blocking fullback?

He's a run blocking and pass catching fullback who is a key piece in ensuring the success of your run game. While Q makes flacco better, neither are effective without a run game.
