I agree with Hensely 100%. And true, nobody is asking Suggs to take a pay cut, even though we don't know his condition going forward.

Let's not forget the WR class this year is pretty deep. If we cut Boldin maybe we take Tavon Austin in the 1st and plug him in to Boldin's spot. It doesn't make losing Boldin any easier though.

True but chemistry is important. Flacco's chemistry with Boldin is off the charts.

I still can't get over this. I watched highlights of the season, and I always heard BOLDIN, TOUCHDOWN. He's so valuable. He's truly a possession receiver, he catches everything.

He has kept us in plenty of games!

We have no depth a LB but honestly I think Boldin has more value than Ellerbe considering

1) This will be an offensive team going forward

2) Ellerbe is an injury risk

I just can't get over signing your QB to top dollar money then potentially getting rid of his only truly reliable receiver. That's called setting someone up to fail. You'd think they would have learned by now.

In a perfect world Boldin gets a 3 year, cap friendly extension. Sadly I think we'll be watching his retirement press conference next week.

This is why it seems so difficult for teams that win Super Bowls to repeat the next year. It always seems that the teams have to make some critical decisions and part ways with some key players. I hope Boldin stays. Flacco to Boldin was used a ton last year, and who knows if the team would have gone down to New Orleans if he wasn't there. If he truly isn't playing for money, he'd realize that this is an important step in proving that. I know he wants his due, but...

I'm pretty sure the Ravens don't like to negotiate through the media. Also, I'm sure that most teams wouldn't mind picking up Boldin in free agency. It's not like he's asking for a huge contract that we can't afford. Restructuring him is the answer. More up front money and lower the cap. Anything else will be an insult to a man who has quietly given us all that he can in our drive to the Super Bowl. I will not be happy if they release Boldin.

He wont be retiring. He has too high of a demand.

This guy has given his all for the Ravens. Very few on this board were able to understand the domino effect of the Flacco contract.....and we aren't even in year four yet... Boldin's biggest games are when the Ravens need him most hopefully something can be worked out to keep him in this uniform but if they have to part ways look no further than number 5's insistance that he be the highest paid quarterback in the league , yet states " it was never about the money."

I'd be happy to see Boldin sign a three year extension but a pay cut tells me he may not be in the plans after next season.

Flacco's cap hit this year is under $7 mil. Very close to the same cap hit he had last season so no, it has nothing to do with his contract. This is about Ellerbe IMO, wanting more than one good year is really worth. The only reason the Ravens are even entertaining overpaying him is because we have no reliable depth at that position.

No one is going to pay him 7M a year...so if he doesnt want to retire why wont he just take a pay-cut? It doesnt sound like he is that interested in playing any longer.

Ellerbe was probably our defensive MVP last year. He is young and getting better, not a player you let walk to retain an overpaid vet. I' m glad the FO doesnt hire/fire because of sentiment.

No it is not a slap in the face. We have a salary cap and cannot afford to pay him. It is as simple as that. Bench riders don't carry a 7 million dollar cap number. If they did, they would be cut.

anquan boldin is not now nor has he ever been a benchrider and he is worth every single penny of the 7 million we don't have another reciever with his hands on the team .

He's also the slowest WR in the NFL...how many TDs did he score last regular season?

Id rather keep Boldin than overpay for Ellerbe tbh

agree 100 percent . we have too many wide recievers now who can't catch on a regular basis.

No team will pay Boldin 7M/year, including the Ravens.

That said, we still can't afford to lose him.

But Gabe! You heard the haters! The only reason why Flacco played as well as he did was bc he threw lobs to Q. Our team is nothing without him

He did play well but he's not a cornerstone player. Neither are Kruger or Cary. This was a contract year for those three and of course they turned up their play once all the pieces were in place (Suggs, Ray, healthier Ngata).

But none of those three are worth these rumored contracts.

I'd hate to lose a Pitta or Torrey Smith later because we overplayed Ellerbe

had it not been for boldin the ravens would have been one and done in the playoffs . then there's this who will take his place ok let's use doss who can only catch two balls in a season let alone make touchdowns in clutch moments. or david reed ,,,,,,,,don't get me started , we have recievers that can't catch period cut them and pay boldin.

Unfortunately we don't pay players for what they did in the past. That's why the Patriots are so successful. We pay players what we expect from them not what they have already done.

We arent talking about a one year investment here. Boldin's contract is up after this year. He is likely to retire. If he wanted to play longer they could do an extension, but that doesnt seem like an option. You would rather have 1 year of Boldin than 5 years of Ellerbe? Thats incredibly shortsighted.

You all need to understand, Oz is damn good with these things..... He will prob find a way to keep Q and Ellerbe and Reed. Boldin is most likely to stay
