Anquan Boldin Traded to the San Francisco 49ers

There's no point in trying to defend Flacco (not saying I don't support him or anything) because the people who dislike him (and that seems to be pretty much everyone) have already made up their minds about him regardless of what he has/can accomplish. Hell, I saw people getting mad about his decision to go to McDonalds after signing the contract.

hahaha people make me laugh. Guy basically carried a sorry defense with him into the playoffs and still beat two of the greatest to ever play QB.

The Ravens really can't afford to lose Q... granted, I think the Ravens go WR in one of the first three rounds, he's still got a lot of football left and will open up things for Torrey and Jacoby outside.

Pretty much, people have made up their minds about Flacco. Like I've said in the past some guys are just punching bags. Eli is another guy who is always dumped on no matter what he does.

it would be interesting if he were cut. Dragonfly would get a much bigger chance to step up on offense, and guys like Doss could try to redeem themselves. however, interesting isnt the same as good. much prefer if Q stuck around for a few years.

Oh I don't even get involved in those conversations. I can see when people can't be reasoned with.

Thompson would be my guess

i've seen enough of Doss. He's not Anquan he will never be Anquan.

We must keep Q. He is the receiver I've been waiting for ever since we got Flacco. Anquan and Torrey best tandem we've ever had. Wish Derrick Maosn was a little younger and still with us. Anquan, Torrey, Mason and Jacoby would be a solid secondary.

Explain to me how its "fair" that Boldin should take a pay cut.

1. He has the third highest cap hit of the team, topped only by two players that are at the tops of their respective positions.

2. Taking a pay cut or getting a contract extension would help the team.

3. "I'm not playing for money."

Why shouldn't Boldin take a pay cut? He played great in the playoffs, but we can't base every player's salary on a four game stretch. The FO has no idea why Boldin suddenly turned into a real #1 receiver for the playoffs, or whether that will last through another season and it would be foolish of them to pay him like one.

Can't hold on to the ball. I'm just not ready to put Doss in the slot yet. I'd much rather give Rainey another chance.

I don't know about that. I could see Torrey and Jacoby, but Anquan and Mason were never really fast enough to play CB or FS, though Q might have had something going at SS. :P

I don't think he meant to use them as defensive backs.

The 4th string HB? You want to give him a chance at WR....

I was poking fun at him saying they would be a good secondary. I agree completely that that's a receiving corps that I would love to see.

Pretty sure they do.

Football is a business. I doubt the FO is willing to bet 7 million dollars on Cam holding Boldin back. The fact is that Cam's offenses were good. I think we can all agree that he was holding the offense from being great, but it isn't our money that gets lost if that isn't the case, and it isn't our job that's on the line if we aren't cautious. The front office looks at 2008- most of 2012 and sees a good offense.

I want to see Boldin back in Baltimore next year as much as anyone else, and trying as hard as possible to bring him back is common sense. But if he insists on placing himself out of the FO's price range after saying that he isn't playing for money and wants to retire in Baltimore, then he's gone and he has no one to blame but himself.

To be fair, he looked really good catching the ball during the preseason. That doesn't translate into being a good receiver, especially in the slot, but it's worth considering.

true that would be a great receiving core. We have a top 5 duo right now and I don't want that to end.

Doss isn't as big or physical as Anquan and doesn't have his hands.

Sure Q isn't burning people but he is still our most relaible WR. Yeah Torrey's become a great WR, but if we lose Q it's just Torrey.

I love Jacoby. Love the man, but he is a #3 WR. He isn't a number 2. The man is phenomenal on special teams. Has okay hands but not great. Isn't good at catching the ball in traffic, primarily a speed guy who can put a move on you out in space.

Your not going to tell me that Laquan, David Reed or Doss will step up and replace Boldin. That is not happening. Haven't really seen Streeter at all this year, but I doubt he can fill those shoes either.

We need more than Jacoby, Torrey and Pitta if we want to make a deep playoff run

We can't lose Ellerbe long term and hope to keep him just so we can keep boldin on his last legs.

quick question

Who the hell is Dragonfly? lol

It's Jacoby. That's his nickname. If you haven't heard it before that must mean you've never watched a SINGLE interview he's done because he addresses himself as Dragonfly on a regular basis lol

Enlighten me as well

It's not exactly fair, but it is a business.

Seriously, I like Boldin too, but you guys have gotta realize it's a business. Boldin is declining, and not worth a 7.5 million cap hit. Ellerbe, however, is young and improving. Simply put, Ellerbe is a better investment at this point, and Boldin is not. I don't see why that's such a hard concept to grasp.

Doss gets pushed around by CB way too easily. His not physical enough.

He also doesn't have much ball awareness either. Like the time when I saw him get beat by CB Culliver and Boldin had to get to his route to catch the 3rd and 12. Or the time on KR, he told his team to let it go, and 49ers just scooped it up @ 2-yard line..

I agree.... People are saying its just fair and he should do this.

Boldin has had a successful career. Pro bowls, all pro, some records I believe, very good reputation. Now he has the one thing he cares about. A ring....

Without Boldin, we don't win a SB plain and simple. Do I want him to stay? Of course, but at the end of the day, it's business as usual.

Do I think he takes a cut? No, money is important. But usually when Ozzie lets a player go, he gets one of equal or potentially greater value for cheaper...... Maybe Ozzie will use the new money in FA, and get an Olinemen to help protect Flacco? Or a potential Star OLB in Barwin? Or a NT like Sammie Lee Hill?

Idk, but what I do know, is that I trust Ozzie, let him work
