These 48 players are under contract for a total Salary Cap commitment of just over $112.719M, which includes the dead money from the releases and retirements of players who are no longer on the roster.

ADJUSTED SALARY CAP: The league has announced that the Salary Cap for 2013 will be $123M. For the Ravens, this number will be adjusted upwards by the carryover of $1.182M from the 2012 Salary Cap, but adjusted downward by the cost of offseason workout bonuses of $504K that all teams must carry against their Salary Cap. This yields an Adjusted Salary Cap number of $123.678M. This is the number that the Ravens must be under as of 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12, and they must stay under that amount from that time until the end of the 2013 league year.

So we're currently 10.959M under the cap?

Yes, prior to tendering the RFAs and ERFAs (and any other moves).

That's good, we can offer a decent contract to Ellerbe at least. And it will leave a little room for a low level FA or two.
And we can get some more cash from Leach and a Boldin restructure.

I don't think offering the contract to Ellerbe is the issue. The issue imo is if he'll accept a fair market deal or will he allow other teams to bidd on him and drive the price over what the Ravens are willing to pay?

Not only moves. But we need to sign all our lovely draft picks. Money is gonna be tight. According to the article on this site, we will potentially spend two 2nd round tenders (Pitta and Jones) that will cost us 4.046$ mio and an original tender (Dickson) that amounts to 1.323 mio$. That alone will leave us with 5.59 mio$. And we need to resign Morgan Cox (tough longsnapper) and the minimum for a three year vet is 0.435 mio$.
This off season is very exciting! But at least we are not the :point:Steelers!

It wouldn't bother me if Ellerbe does that and we let him go, I'm his biggest fan here but he's injury prone and one dimensional, we're already paying 4.2M for McClain who is barely worth the minimum. I'd even go so far as to say we wouldn't get much dropoff from Bynes and Carr if we let them both walk.

Are you assuming 2nd round tenders for Pitta/Jones and original round for the rest?

I know this isn't directed at me, but I'd say 2nd for Pitta and Jones, original round for Dickson, and non-tender/re-sign at minimum for Harewood, Cox, and David Reed.

That is what I would like to see as well, although I wouldnt cry if Reed is let go entirely.

Yeah. I'd tender Art Jones a 2nd, Dickson an original (3rd), Pitta I would give him a new deal now (with a 1st year salary of a 2nd round tender). Non-tender the rest and re-sign. I am very interested in seeing what we do with D. Reed. I feel like if we keep JJ, then there's no reason to keep him unless we plan on cutting JJ for whatever reason. We're just so deep at WR. I don't see us keeping all these guys. Someone's going to be gone.

Ultimately, I think Reed will be gone at some point or another. Nothing wrong with signing him at such a cheap rate and giving him one last shot in camp, though.

Yes. For the purposes of the article, I tried to create a bit of a road map for determining Cap space based on what one might think as far as who stays and who goes. So, for that purpose, I assumed tenders for all RFAs and ERFAs. They may certainly decide not to tender guys like David Reed, Harewood and/or Cox, so those can then be backed out of the $2.2M that is available to determine what the Cap space would then be.

I'm with you. I'm a huge Ellerbe fan, but i'm not sure how much of his success had a true impact on this team. The defense was poor for the majority of the time. Not having Webb had a huge impact on our pass defense. Not having a healthy Suggs had a huge impact on the pass rush. I can't say not having Ellerbe healthy was the biggest reason the run defense struggled.

I think he's yet another guy who greatly benefits from the system and even though having him back would be great i'm not sure you overpay for Ellerbe because he's everyone's hottest FA LB

I honestly don't even remember except for the last game of the regular season. We only had the man for a season. Didn't even realize he started 6 games for us
