Rumor: Cleveland Browns to pursue Paul Kruger

24 posts in this topic

I have a feeling he won't be as effective anywhere else as he was playing for us so i don't really care where he winds up

poor Kruger. Well at least he will get paid. I feel bad for anyone going to the Browns. We can't afford to keep Kruger. We drafter Upshaw so he needs to step up

I bet it'll be hard for Kruger to be on the receiving end of those Browns beat downs. Joe has yet to lose to Cleveland and he is going on his 6th year in the league. Lets keep that streak rolling!

I don't think he'd go. There's bound to be better teams interested in him than the browns, I'd sacrifice a couple mil to not play for the browns. Someone like Miami could be interested or the colts and both of them are better teams that the colts. Heck NO if they could around him are moving to a 34 and a be interested. I dunno why anyone would chose to play for a basement team if they have a choice of another even if it means slightly less money to avoid said basement team

While I agree he will take a hit on his production anywhere other than here - I think the Browns would be a good fit, they have some good players there and are vastly underrated on the defense. I expect Horton will only make them better...I am interested to see if he will still have the pass rush explosion once he is on the field full time. If he could go to a team with a rotation it would be best but for the dollar amount he will make the expectations will probably be higher

do the names Ed Hartwell, Adalius Thomas, or Jarrett Johnson ring a bell? Many of the Ravens good linebackers who choose to leave end up failing elsewhere. Hartwell retired after a year, Thomas had 2 bad seasons and retired, and Jarret Johnson was a whole lot worse on SD than he was on the Ravens. The Ravens have always employed a defensive system that makes many defenders play better than they actually are. Kruger will not be as good elsewhere, because he wont be playing with Ngata, Suggs, Reed, and Ray Lewis this time. So to Kruger and the Browns, I say "Good luck, because you'll need it."

You guys are hating on Cleveland too much. Cleveland has assembled a quality staff and have been patiently amassing talent on both sides of the ball for awhile now. We are still gonna beat them down, but a couple more pieces and they may be able to contend with Bengals for a playoff spot.

I think any team in the NFL could use Paul Kruger. With that said, the Browns aren't a bad fit. Horton's a good DC, and I would've loved for him to have come here if we didn't have Pees (even if we did have Pees). Horton's an awesome defensive mind. I think he'll be a HC in a few years.

The Browns are a possibility. As for those who say don't go to the Browns, I don't think NFL players think like that. I've met a few NFL players. Now, I'm not saying I understand how they think, or am some kind of expert (I'm not), but I have noticed that they don't really see "bad teams". They see teams who need help, and I think any football player worth their salt would go to a team like the Browns because they are a basement team. Why do that? Because most NFL players believe that they can make that team better, into a contender, etc.

That's why I can see Paul Kruger go to the Browns.

I can also see him go to a team like the Colts as well. Nice fit, need a pass rusher, familiar with Pagano, knows the schemes, etc. He could even go to Dallas, if Dallas for some reason felt like he was a better fit than Spencer or if they wanted to trade Spencer. Hey, crazier things have happened. Last year I said in the draft forum that I felt like out of the 'mystery' teams looking to trade up, the Eagles would've been a great fit to do it to take RG3. People said I was nuts. I think if the Eagles did that, Reid would still be in Philadelphia.

So, I believe that the best fit for Paul Kruger is the Miami Dolphins, who have money to spend and need a pass rusher opposite of Wake. Imagine, a defense with Paul Kruger & Cameron Wake. He would also be a LE there, because Wake is the RE. In all honesty, I can't imagine a better fit. Miami needs help at WR, so you can say they don't have the $$$ to spend on Kruger but hey, they can make it happen.

But we'll see. I also said last offseason McClain wouldn't be back, and he came back. So, I'm not perfect here. Just my guess is that Kruger goes to the Dolphins.

Least we know we'll be able to run to the weak side all day long. Just have to hope we tire him out so he doesn't eat Oher alive if he's at LT lol.

I can see him in New Orleans but they would have to get Mr. Brees to restructure for the cap room to bring him in.

The Browns are a decent team, I don't know why we are bashing this hard lol. Though we consistently beat them they play us well. And that battle will get tougher every year.

I don't see Kruger in Cleveland. I see Green Bay chasing him after their inconsistencies on defense last season. I also see Green Bay paying more than Cleveland.

I love Kruger. I just don't think he'll be back. Best of luck to him -- but he won't find a better situation for him than here, unless his greater concern is his paycheck over another championship.

I turned into the biggest Kruger fan this past season. He showed me that he is a very good player and that's why I hate the fact that he could be leaving. Whether it's the Browns, Pack, whoever. I wish him well wherever he goes, I just wish we could keep him a Raven.
