This report on Boldin is revealing. I had thought we'd possibly seek a contract extension, but I was wondering if the FO was going to shy away from doing that because they don't see him as a part of our long term plans and didn't want to commit to more years. It looks like that is the case.

If we lose Q for this year, I think it will hurt. It was obvious that he meant a lot to us this past year. We have a stable of hopeful WRs, but I'll be surprised if the FO believes any one of them is ready to fill Q's very large shoes. Doss (Q's "heir apparent") had very limited PT and when he was put into key situations, he literally dropped the ball. Not that I've lost hope in him or any of the other guys, but I don't get the sense that they are ready.

But who knows, perhaps the FO feels that the only way to see what we have in your young players is to throw them into the fire, but that is risky to say the least.

He has to take a paycut, Flacco is the highest paid player in NFL histoy. He eats up a huge chunk of salary, that leaves little room for others. Boldin was a big reason we did what we did. Awesome clutch catches. It will get down to Flacco for Kruger, Ellerbe, Reed, Williams, and a few more. There is only so much money to go around. His salary is going to gut some of the starters for sure. Hope they have backup.

Ellerbe is not worth $25 to $30 Million. The figure is bloated because of our lack of depth on the roster at this spot and MaC's injury concerns. There is nothing special about Ellerbe in my mind that would put him at that salary. Rebuild the D through the Draft.

if he didnt have such a monster postseason i would have expected this but i dont get why there doing this to a guy who was just as important as flacco in our championshiop run. Why dont we just extend him another year to reduce the number. Id rather cut vonta leach than boldin because fullbacks are a dying breed
