I agree with fazing out some of our players for cheaper alternatives, Jones, Leach, Koch etc. Although I believe we can keep them on the roster this season and let them go after 2013. Jones and Leach are FA's in 2014, and we could bring in a rookie to compete with Koch.

I think McKinnie will test the market, but the Ravens should leave the door open to retaining him if his offers are not ridiculous. The guy is not a bad left tackle and no offense, Oher is decent as a Right Tackle but IMHO he think he struggles on the left side. I much rather have McKinnie there if we can afford him. I think in Caldwell'sl system we will need Bryant. I hope he hangs around for two more years.

I think with the time Ravens spent on dickson, we'll more than likely let him go after this season. His been given alot of reps and opportunity but has proven he isn't effective. If you think about it, the chance of grooming a TE @ the level of dickson's production is very HIGH. I say we draft a TE @ later rounds in 4th round like Gavin Escobar(a physical 6-6' freak who is fast and strong) and build next to Pitta.

We can't pay all of our UFA/RFA, and i think dickson is the last of our priorities imo.
His hands got really unreliable at some point two seasons ago. I don't know what happened, he just suddenly started dropping the ball everywhere. He nearly dropped both his catches in the Super Bowl.

Stupid to faze out Koch. What do we save like 500k in cap space this season? He had an off end to the season last year but he is still a very good punter. He deserves the chance to show he can be his old self. Don't forget he is also the holder and good friends with Tucker. You shouldn't break the chemistry to save chump change.

Ellerbe, Pitta, Reed imo should come before anyone else. And then extend Boldin to save some room, and maybe Leach and JJ. Let Oher play out his contract, and maybe we extend Arthur Jones too.

If McKinnie is the only thing going he should be resigned, if not I would prefer the FO entertain other prospects in free agency.

alot of his punts were really bad. i think his punt return ended up returning to TD's more than +5 times this season.

Koch will make 2.5 mil in 2014 and 2015 respectively. 2 mil per is not chump change.

I thought we only allowed 3 TDs at most off of punts. We had one or two big returns but that is to be expected. You can blame some of that on lane integrity and guys trying to make too many big plays. Ayenbadejo has a horrible season in my opinion.

This season yes, in 2014 the savings are near full value, and in 2015 they will be full value. I don't see the issue with bringing in competition at punter, if Koch wins out he will obviously be retained.

I remember one game where Koch definitely made a very poor punt and punted it in the wrong direction which was evident by the coverage for special teams. This caused the coverage unit to be out of position and caused the touchdown. I think that was against the Broncos. You could blame that on the altitude, I suppose.

But then he had that really awful punt, I can't remember if it was in the Super Bowl or what. It was one of the worst I have ever seen him make. I don't know if something is wrong with his leg or what. He hasn't been the same player he was in the past these past two years. Still, you don't cut him to save money, but if a rookie punter is available or is undrafted (more likely) and you bring him in and he really beats Koch in practice, then you have the second coming of Billy Cundiff.

True, or as a verb:

Oh c'mon. The bold made it so authoritative.

I would feel better if I'd heard at least some rumblings about Ellerbe & Reed.

Spencer has just been tagged now as well so Kruger is the probably the no.1 pas rusher available.
Dude, we're probably getting a 3rd round comp pick then, lol. That's just awesome. I hope some team overpays him.

3rd Round Comp: Paul Kruger
4th Round Comp: Cary Williams
6th Round Comp: Bryant McKinnie (maybe)

If Ellerbe leaves, he could get us a 4th or 5th as well. Not that I want to lose Ellerbe, but if he wants a lot I can't see us paying that.

If our big name FAs do leave (Kruger, Williams) we need to be really careful in FA.

Wow, if anyone has seen the details of Flacco's contract. he is only taking up 6.5 mil this year toward the cap. i think the expectations for re-signings / additions just went way up. i still say we lose kruger, but Williams will be back and McKinnie, Ellerbee and Reed.

We have close to but still less than 12M in cap space without any restructures or additional retirements or cuts. We still have to tender Pitta, Dickson, A. Jones, D. Reed, Harewood. We have ERFAs to sign. We also have to leave money for draft picks. In addition to that, you need to leave about 2M in cap space in case there is an unexpected injury and you need to sign a vet in an emergency.

We are really tight against the cap. Nothing is different. We will still probably lose Williams, Kruger, McKinnie & pay lose Ellerbe or Reed. This won't be easy. We have to decide what to do with players like McClain, BA, Leach, Boldin & Jacoby.

With the remaining cap space, we should ignore our free agents and go sign Jake Long. Protect Flacco's blindside after you just paid him all that money.
