All of us in Ravens Nation would love to get this deal done, but we are not the ones holding the CHECKBOOK AND SIGNING THE CHECKS. Some pundits want to make you believe the new Brady deal and Smith to K.C. has no effect on Joe Flacco's deal. I tend to disagree and here is what it means:
A) With Brady taking a pay cut, Flacco should(and probably will) make more, but IT WILL NOT BE 20 MIL/YEAR as some would hope for
Now, IF and ONLY IF THE FLACCO DEAL IS NOT AGREED UPON BY BOTH PARTIES, one of the following actions would be taken:
Action 1) Ravens would apply Exclusive Franchise Tag. Flacco stays for 2013 season, costing Ravens 19-20 million dollars against Salary Cap. No other teams can talk with Flacco.
OR
Action 2) Ravens would apply Non-Exlclusive Franchise Tag. Ravens would make an offer to Flacco around 14-15 million for 2013 season. Other teams could make offers to Flacco as they feel. Once the offer is made, Ravens are allowed to match it or up it to keep Flacco. If they don't match the offer, they loose Flacco to the other team, case closed. The final offer gets counted against the 2013 Salary Cap.
Any ideas or suggestions? Feel free to comment.
