Geno Smith

Personally I would consider taking him since it could give us some leverage with Joe and it would be nice to have 2 Franchise QB's (especially if joe ever got hurt. Knocks on wood) ... But that's just my opinion.

No. Maybe in 5 years but not now.I'm surprised you guys find him that unimpressive. I like him a lot, he has solid awareness and presence, a big arm, he's fairly accurate, and when need be he can take off. Having good recievers doesnt make a QB bad... Joe has two great albeit inconsistent recievers in Boldin and Torrey.
Officially.

I would not draft Geno Smith.I'm confused. What are you saying no to?
When flacco is 32 I may draft a QB. But not now, we need other players.

I dislike the way he throws the ball -- too many "floaters", and ran a spread offense completely out of the shotgun formation. I also question the level of his competition. Yes, you can point to Flacco, but I liked Flacco a lot more out of college than Smith. I don't think Smith is garbage. I just wouldn't take him when we have a QB. Even if we didn't, he wouldn't be my first choice. He's not the BPA. But, that of course depends on who is there. For me, it's not Geno Smith. His receivers also made him look better than he is, in my opinion. He had an amazing corps of WRs, and I know you already addressed this, but Austin & Bailey are both studs. You saw their combines.I'm surprised you guys find him that unimpressive. I like him a lot, he has solid awareness and presence, a big arm, he's fairly accurate, and when need be he can take off. I also really don't like these running quarterbacks. I never did. If Floyd is there, I would take Floyd over Smith. Easily. I'd even take Datone Jones over Smith.
As for his potential, I think he can be a good player in the right system. I think it would be smart for the Patriots to take him in all honesty if he fell there.

O ok that makes more sense I thought you were saying no to Geno not being a decent prospect or Joe not having 2 good receivers.I would not draft Geno Smith.

He isn't really a running QB and if Floyd by some miracle was their I would take him in a heartbeat, he is a monster. Austin and Bailey are both very good but they can only make a QB look a small amount better than they actually are. Look at AZ. Fitz couldn't even make their QB's look like respectable back-ups and he is a perennial All-Pro. Plus they had Floyd across from him.I dislike the way he throws the ball -- too many "floaters", and ran a spread offense completely out of the shotgun formation. I understand that, but what's the sense in getting Smith? For what? To hold a clipboard? To trade him in a few years? Yeah, perhaps I could see that. Trade Tyrod (lol) and have Smith & Flacco. But do you think that would cause some controversy? It might. It definitely would with the fans. And Flacco might even feel slighted (if he has no deal yet in place) and want to go elsewhere. There's just a lot I dislike in terms of drafting Geno Smith. Those reasons just listed are minor reasons, but still concerns. He isn't really a running QB and if Floyd by some miracle was their I would take him in a heartbeat, he is a monster. I just am not fond of him here in our system. I think he could be a good QB, though.

1. McKinnie, who stabilised the OL might be gone and even if he stays he is still unreliable.
2. Ellerbe is a good LB with a history of injuries. I don't see him as a successor to Lewis.
3. Webb is a great CB with a history of injuries. Eventhough there is some decent depth behind him, it still bothers me.
4. Suggs is a great DE with a history of injuries (even if it is recent). Kruger needed Suggs to produce. That's a fact.
5. Pollard and Reed might be on the decline (Reed more so then Pollard)
6. Ngata is a great NT, who literally threw his back out carrying the whole DL duties by himself (thx 4 nothing Cody)
7. Torrey Smith still needs a season or two to mature and there is no true successor to Boldin
8. Jacoby Jones had a couple good plays, but mostly because Joe went out of his way to throw "punt returns" (ridiculous high arcing throws) to help Jones locate the ball and compensate for his lack of hands (he needs his whole body to catch basically anything). He is not and never will be a #2 WR.
9. Bernard Pierce was outplaying Ray Rice throughout the playoffs and it really bothers me.
You want us to waste a pick on a QB? A first round pick? The fact, that this draft is deep in mid-rounds is a godsend for a team like us. We need to trade out of the first round, unless something appealing comes up (Datone Jones for example) and make a ton of great picks between round 2 and 4 and some great draft picks for depth and need in the remaining rounds.
Geno Smith would be a waste of a crucial draft pick for us.

No I never said I wanted this. I just wondered what people would think about it. It wouldn't be a waste if we ended up trading him like a year down the road for a slew of picks. I also don't recall saying anything about our team not having plenty of needs. This Ravens team, that won the SB wasn't all time great. Actually it was fairly average, but our QB Flacco and his go to receiver Boldin caught fire. That's how we won the Super bowl.

Well, you wanted my opinion on whether I would want the team to pick him at 32, right? My answer is no. There is too much to address for the team, to make a pick at the one area of the team where the Ravens are set for the next 10 years or so. Unless, Geno can be alot better than Joe, which might be possible, but personally I cannot see, it would be a waste of a draft pick we need to get right in the upcoming draft.

Yeah. I'd rather trade our 1st round pick entirely for a 2014 1st round pick before I took Geno Smith. That would essentially be the same thing.I wouldnt draft him, even if he was still on the board (which he wont be) because what is the upside? Maybe we can trade him for a first round pick in a couple years? I dont see the benefite of doing that....maybe take a QB in the 4th or 5th and try to groom him for a trade, but not a first round pick.
