Let me preface this by saying, I dont think we need to make a big move, but depending on how the draft goes the talent that may be on the board at pick 32 may be very "meh".

We will likely have 4 supplemental picks so this could allow us to use our normal picks to move up and take a player that may have a bit more impact.

For instance this is a rough top 32 players I could see going in the first (maybe not this order but I think they will go in the first)

1) Eric Fisher
2) Star Lotulelei
3) Bjoern Werner
4) Geno Smith
5) Luke Joeckel
6) Dee Millner
7) Dion Jordan
8) Cordarelle Patterson
9) Barkevious Mingo
10) Chance Warmack
11) Lane Johnson
12) Sharrif Floyd
13) Desmond Trufant
14) Sheldon Richardson
15) Ziggy Ansah
16) Kenny Vaccaro
17) Damontre Moore
18) Jonathan Cooper
19) Jarvis Jones
20) Zach Eifert
21) Matt Elam
22) Tavon Austin
23) DeAndre Hopkins
24) Johnathan Hankins
25) Kawann Short
26) Datone Jones
27) Arthur Brown
28) Xavier Rhodes
29) Jonathan Cyprien
30) Sam Montgomery
31) Jesse Williams
32) Uh Oh -- we have a few ILBs (Minter, Te'o, Ogletree) that all have questions. We have a few DTs (S. Williams, J, Jenkins) no one overly impressive. Safeties? (Swearinger, Reid). OT? (Fluker --ugh, Watson -- maybe, Armstead -- raw), WR (Woods, Allen --injuries)...

Personally I would probably go with Allen or Swearinger if I had to, but I am not feeling great about it. WR and safety are both deep and Allen has injury concerns. Maybe ILB, but I think I can get a solid LB later.

I would much rather move up 5-6 spots and get a guy like Arthur Brown (who is a cut above other ILBs IMO), Datone Jones (versatile pass-rusher), or Johathan Cyprien (very physical and aggressive safety with ideal size and excellent ball skills).

I wouldnt mind trading up a few spots but as of right now I feel confused about the 1st round overall. lol soo many options could happen so many different players with boom/bust potential...some with skill but medical problems. And most of all its still way too early to predict anything for the Ravens...this is shaping up like a huge free agency year for the Ravens. Looks like Flacco will get tagged meaning we need to free up space. We may have to cut Anquan Boldin, might not have enough to retain Ed Reed or even Dennelle Ellerbe for that matter. So many different directions both the NFL draft...and the Ravens draft priorities could go.

I could see us taking 2 or 3 WRs this year if Boldin is cut.

I'd love to have Dion Jordan or Mingo if one of them falls past 15 for some reason.... I think Brown will be there at 32.

I don't really like the idea of trading up though unless its for a sure thing, franchise player that fits a big need.

we should trade down not up. And get some more picks. Outside of 10 to 15 players there are no phenoms this year

If we trade up, we better not take an ILB. I want a tackle if we trade up. Solid ILBs can be had in the middle rounds. Quality left tackles are rare in the mid rounds.

Trade up for Lane Johnson? I wish!

I could see us trading down too, but I think there are some good players who will be there in the mid 20s. Trading down is preferable to taking someone at 32 unless there is a guy who falls.

I dont think a Tackle will fall out of top 15. Solid ILBs can be had later, special ILBs like Brown are not found that late.

I see us trading up for either a WR who may fall to the 20s or a DE/OLB...the Rams are almost certain to grab him at 17..18 wherever their other 1st round pick is. But if he falls I could see Ozzie trading up for him. I could also see us trading up for Demontre Moore who may fall to the 20s due to slight work ethic issues...or maybe Datone Jones.

Datone Jones is the guy I would really like to get in the 1st...I just dont see him falling to 32. Maybe Brown will fall that far because of his shoulder. I get too attached to players I guess.

I'm been a big fan of Swearinger for a while. I thought maybe we could get him in the 3rd round a couple months ago, but seems like more of a late first/early 2nd guy. May not have the best range, but he can cover. Rambo is another safety I have my eyes on.

Ofcourse there are guys that any of us would want to trade up for. Personally I'd love to see Arthur Brown, Datone Jones, Dion Jordan, or Lane Johnson. If we are moving up a couple spots (though Dion is more than a couple, especially now after the combine).

But I just can't see us trading up. You laid it out yourself. There is a pool of guys but none that one would feel comfortable taking in the first. So you trade back to some team wanting to sneak into the first for a Barkley, etc and nab one of them a tad later while picking up another pick.

But in that situation you laid out, just off the top of my head, I like Justin Hunter at #32. Right now the eye is in the beholder and you have to look at the track record of Ozzie. He prefers to trade back unless there is a real special player that he is targeting. Who that might be, who knows.

This draft is going to be a crapshoot, the talent from pick 15 to pretty much 60 isn't that different, someone everyone thinks could go late second early third could easily go pick 20. I think this is a perfect year to trade back and manoeuvre to get three second round picks.

Yeah, that is true. I don't know what Ozzie's board looks like so I can't really say. In my world I would trade up a few spots to take a guy like Brown or Jones. I think they are special talents that probably will go a few spots ahead of us. We have draft picks this year so trading forward is a possibility IMO. I just think after the top 20-25 guys there is a signficant drop-off for a multitude of reasons, whether it be character, durability, being one-dimensional, etc.

Maybe we could trade back and still get a couple solid players. I think the upside is what takes a hit if we go backwards.

Could you see the Ravens trading a late 3rd and a 4th and 5th for an early/mid 2nd? I just think all that trading is too madden like and unrealistic...but what do you think?

Agreed. As a fan, I want to trade up and grab a special name, some guy I got attached too. But from a business standpoint, trading back, not forward makes sense with this draft in particular. The pool is very spread out with no real elite guys, they all have their issues.

Ozzie's success rate is pretty darn good, and in a draft like this, he's going to do well amid the talent confusion. That's why its probably best to give him more bullets.

I hear you. Brown's my favorite prospect. So hell yea, I would trade up to get him. Will Ozzie? Who knows.

I do think names that we like will drop (just like every year) and we'll get all excited about the choices at #32. But we could probably drop back and still nail a couple of them.

I wish we would go after some top talent either by trading up or planting our foot @ 32. But the track record for Ozzie doesn't really show that trend.

It always happens that way doesnt it? I've just been seeing everyone say we should trade back this year, but I see no reason why we can't move up to secure the player we want. It's not like Ozzie hasnt done it before.

True...very well could happen. If I had to project our picks I would say

1...2...3...4...4©...5...5©...6...6©....7

2 or 3 comp picks...so we could use the regular picks to trade up somewhere. Maybe trade our 1st...a 3rd...and 4th to move up to St Louis spot. They could skip out on Patterson(if he falls) and still grab Keenan Allen with the 32nd. Sitting at 16th we could very well come away with a Demontre Moore...Datone Jones...Cordarelle Patterson...or Kenny Vaccaro or others
