Looks like the NFL once again is going to attempt to mess with something that isn't broke. The NFL is considering a change to the off-season schedule that would be a major overhaul.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is considering changes to its off-season calendar that would move the Combine to March, the start of free agency to April and the draft to May. The NFL is also considering having all 32 teams start training camp on the same day.

Gosh I hope this doesn't happen. As much as I would like to see things grouped more together so there isn't much of a waiting period in between events, this would be a horrible execution of it. I say leave things the way they are now.

Now, one thing I would like to see is going back to the lockout situation where the Draft happened BEFORE Free Agency. It really made the Draft a bit more interesting in my opinion. I mean this year, do you take a gamble on a QB in the Draft or go elsewhere and wait a month until Free Agency to get Alex Smith, or Michael Vick or Nick Foles, etc. Start Free Agency in June and have May be the period for the mini camps to start and mini camps end before Free Agency begins.

Adam Schefter hit the nail on the head. He pointed out that TV Sweeps are in May, which means bigger ratings, and thus bigger dollars.

I don't think I can wait another three months till the draft let alone two.

Really dislike this because it gives teams a chance to recover if the executed poorly in the draft.

I would not want the draft before free agency. Teams should know if they are able to sign their own guys or whether they have the ability to sign a FA. Drafts would be a lot worse, more interesting maybe, but a lot lot worse.
