We have the Brady rule, now we have the Jim Harbaugh rule. The NFL has stated that Head Coaches who leave the sideline and go on the field to argue with an official, will be a 15 yard penalty.

“We need to be much more disciplined about where our coaches go in terms of the box,” Anderson said, “and venturing out on the field beyond traditional markers is something that is just not appropriate. It can interfere and it can be viewed as intimidating, and we really are going to rein that in.”

“It’s about enforcement and point of emphasis. So coaches who, after appropriate warning, continue to venture out will pay the price with a penalty that potentially could hurt their team.”

I must say, to me I believe this should be able to help coaches be more displicined with their players. We see that players take on their coaches personality and while I totally understand why coaches get upset at obvious situations(penalty or not a penalty) but stay on the sideline and show some restraint.

In return, the NFL should EXPAND Instant Replay to allow them to challenge ANY Penalty 15 yards or more.

I think they should also change the rules where coaches don't lose the ability to challenge as long as they continue to get them right.

Ok now that would be a cool new emoticon for the board to use lol. Yeah this should be interesting to see if coaches like Harbaugh, Schwartz and other wild coaches settle down.

What a punitive rule. Watching coaches flip is part of what make the game fun. And no one gets hurt!

I don't know. It goes too far sometimes. Like Jim in the huddle during the black out. John flips out plenty but doesn't leave the designated area very much.

Joe flacco picked up a fumbled ball off the ground like he just dropped the newspaper on the sidewalk by accident and flung it across the street square into the neighbor's open mailbox while being attacked by pit bulls on steroids - a Panther's fan

Sometimes refs deserve to get blasted... They already flag you if you go over the line i.e. the 'manure' chant.

Whatever, the coaches will adjust although I hate these 'judgement' calls by refs.

He's not very thrilled about the rule change.

I find Jim Harbaughs tantrums highly annoying. I think it's a stupid rule though and I don't think this will stay. To many coaches won't be able to control themselves. They might get ejected if they get flagged another 15 yards for something.
