PS4/Xbox One Discussion

I got my Halo 5 trailer, I'm happy.

I'm considering waiting until it comes out to buy an Xbox One.  I imagine they'll have some special Halo themed box combo deal, and none of the other games I saw were particularly appealing.

Hey now, it's only $499.  :P

$499 will get you an Xbox One, playing all the games you want... well at least the ones that aren't used. Oh and no backward compatibility to the 360 meaning they are forcing people to buy the new system. It will be a matter of time before they stop making games for the 360.

LMAO. $500? The used games restrictions already made it a no buy but $500 at launch? Did they not learn from Sony and the PS3? That's not even counting the fact that you STILL have to pay for Xbox Live.

You would think they would have learned from the PS3 and made Xbox Live free. I'm surprised many people are so willing to pay more money just to pay online when you can get a PS3 and play online for free.

Like that wasn't going to happen anyway?  No one will care about backwards compatibility after a year or so.  Just wait to buy one until the good games come out.

The $499 is a big mistake though.  I believe that's what the PS3 launched at and it really crippled sales for a very long time.  I'd prefer to pay $400 and not get that Kinect crap that I'm never going to use.  Motion controls just aren't precise enough, although the new Kinect is supposed to be a lot better.  The real problem is I don't have the 30 foot radius of open space between the couch and the Xbox.

I normally have one of each console, just for funsies.

Not buying Microsoft's garbage this year though. Not paying $560 to play Halo for a while.

Sony > Microsoft.

Right. This is arguably worse than the PS3 being at that price. The PS3 was ahead of its time when it launched hardware wise with Blu-Ray being new technology when it released. That's not even counting the fact that you didn't have to pay for online with the PS3 and there wasn't any DRM. The Xbox does very little that I can't do already on other devices. Also, it won't even be the most powerful console when it releases.

Microsoft sent this console out to die.

Xbox Live is an incredibly successful service, the quality of which is far beyond that which Sony offers.  They have no reason to change it to free.

It's really not that big of a difference. I've used both services and I prefer the free PSN to the marginally better paid Xbox Live.

I should probably explain that my Xbox 360 had the RROD three times, while being on a fan and well ventilated, which is why I feel Microsoft's products were, and are likely to remain, garbage. Not just the fact that Xbox outside of Halo doesn't provide anything which the Sony equivalent does not.

The 360 slim operates fine and completely eliminated the RROD so I wouldn't say all of their products are garbage. The only problem I have with Microsoft products is how they overprice products.

My only concern is that DICE LA is developing it. DICE LA used to be Danger Close. EA rebranded them to DICE LA because their previous 2 games are awful.

Stick a fork in the Xbox One. Sony just announced that there are NO restrictions on used games and what you can do with a game after you buy it on the PS4. Also, no 24 hour check-ins.

Oh they knew that console wasn't reliable the day they first shipped. Microsoft is a greedy corporation what do you expect.

PS4 seems a lot better than Xbox One from what I saw

It is, graphically it even looks better with games like the new killzone and "the Division" which was shown at Playstation's press conference

Ps4 sold me on the fact that they got planetside 2

Outside of Halo 5, there is nothing I saw that really excited me.  I'll get Beyond: Two Souls and Watch Dogs, but those are for the current generation.  I'm not getting a launch day box for either system.

I thought Titanfall looked good, but yeah I'm also going to sit back for a little while, wait to see what my friends get.
