Ravens increasing Ticket prices

Yeah, teams dont set the prices of the open market, although open market or face value, it is still the same dollars. Particularly for most fans since we have to buy our seats on the open market. Unless you own a PSL and season tickets. I saw these prices during the Ravens/Chiefs game at Candlestick. I do not think that those folks are advertsing the sale of those tickets any longer, so a link is not really available. Although the next away game we have there, I will be sure to post one for you.

Most fans I dont think buy tixkets on the open market. The Bank is roughly 90+ percent PSL's. Now, a good portion are probably ticket brokers, but still ..most of the stadium is filled by PSL holder that use their tickets privatley, and not reselling them.

Oh, come on now. Stop complaining. We went to the playoffs 5-years in a row! We won a Super Bowl! We used to raise prices every two years! We haven't done so in years. Some of you guys whine way too much. If you don't like the prices then just don't go. If I can't afford the game, I just don't go period. I'll watch it on TV.

I mean, this is the silliest thing about which anyone can complain. This is a business, guys. Chipotle raised prices. Heck, even Subway made changes to the $5 footlong.

Some of you want something for nothing. Seriously. I have no problem with the increase. I'm not rich or anything but costs are rising everywhere. Everyone raises prices. Not just the NFL. We didn't raise prices after the recession.
exactly, we just reache dthe pinnacle of success and people are asking for a pricing DECREASE...lol

You are correct, most fans at the game use their PSLs. Although in reality most fans do not own PSLs, since there are not enough seats to accomodate ALL the Ravens fans. And most of us would rather do things like eat regularly rather than pay for a PSL and season tickets.

What I should have said was poor shlubs like me, on that rare occasion I want to go to the game, have to buy our tickets on the open market, since we do not have season tickets and prefer not to sit in the nosebleed section. I do not have a cadre of pals that have season tickets so no one is giving them to me either. That leaves the open market. I was assuming that most of my fellow Ravens fans here on the forum are also not PSL owners so enjoy the games from home and occasionally go to the open market to buy tickets and watch a home game, just for the hell of it. I admit that I could be wrong about that. Maybe everyone here is a wealthy season ticket holder and I am at the wrong forum.

Regardless, I think that after market is a better indicator of the seats value since it shows what a fan is willing to pay for it today. And, if true, the Banks seats are pretty valuable. More so than a lot of other stadiums.

Man, I wish I could be a PSL holder. I have a hard time even affording a game since I have other priorities and can enjoy it on TV too. I think the open market really hurts the average fan because those sharks buy the tickets just to sell them to churn a profit. Nothing wrong with it--it just makes me mad that they buy as many face value tickets as they can & screw honest fans.

I don't see a prob with the tix increase. Most other teams tix are priced in the same area, at least the "contenders" are, the Ravens have always fell a tad above the league average. They've increased prices every other year so this time they actualy held off an extra year. It costs money to assemble a playoff caliber team.....I hear seats are cheap in Jacksonville, Buffalo and Cleveland. hehe.
Never bothered me that much....I average going to one game a season. Its nice to be there in person and all, but for me, I have a better time at the local watering hole with the other members of Roost #65. Cheaper, more comfortable, etc.

The only thing that bothers me is the price-gouging. I get it. That doesn't mean I like it, lol. I try to go to one per as well. It's been hard the past three years due to school.

Or maybe we're broke season ticket holders that just prioritize our spending differently. Instead of spending on bar tabs and lavish vacations, I pay for my season tickets. We all make choices with our disposable income. What works for some of us won't work some others. It's all good.
Good point. I love my Ravens' games, but spending less than $100 for 2 of us to watch them at our local roost and put the rest of the money towards boating works for us. As you said, it's all in what you value most to spend your disposable income on. I've found that most of the people that say they couldn't afford $2000 a year for season tickets, don't think about the $2000 a year they spend on cigarettes!

I'd spend 2k/yr for PSLs. It's just hard to get them, lol. The waiting list is out the door and around the block.

I've had a couple shots at PSLs in that range over the past years. Being in a Ravens Roost gives me alot of access to people trying to get rid of them due to the economy lately. If I hear of anything, I'll PM you.

Truth be told I probably spend about ~$450 dollars on tickets on 3 games this season from secondary market(ticketmaster/peers).

Maybe its time I look for a PSL. Never been one, not sure what the process is. Can any PSL/seasonal owners give us some information about it? Like how long it takes, how much each venue of the seating prices are? etc?

Check the store -- 6th in ticket prices in 2011 http://www.baltimore...0,2297062.story

Decreasing prices? Unlikley, but why call it laughable? Players get their rings (which cost around $15,000 I hear) and bonuses (in addition to often big salaries) and owners andcoaches get their bonuses for winning the SB. Why is is laughable to think something should go back to the people who are helping to pay the salaries? If 2011 ticket prices were reduced across the board by $5, it would cost the team about $3.5 million (assumeing about 71,000 seats and 10 games). That's a drop in the bucket in my opinion.

So call me laughable if you like, but I know where the scoreboard is!
From 2001 to 2009, the Ravens raised their ticket prices every other year with the last hike coming before the 2009 season when select seats went up anywhere from $5 to $15.

Because of a difficult economy and the uncertainty of a potential lockout, team officials broke the trend in 2011, opting to keep the ticket prices the same. In announcing last February that no price changes would be made for a third consecutive season, the organization cited already competitive prices and the economy.

From the link.

It is what it is. First raise in 4 yrs.
There is a link, on this very site, to get on the PSL list. There's also a place here where you can work directly with current PSL owners selling season tix, but not PSLs. It works as a go between so you know you're not getting scammed. Most of those I've come across for sale were from word of mouth, ie: someone tight on money and needs to let them go, etc. Good luck!

You can click Gameday>Tickets at the top of the page (or use this link http://www.baltimoreravens.com/gameday/tickets/index.html ) to find out everything you want to know about buying PSLs. There is even a link to the PSL Marketplace.

"The List " is NOT open. you have to buy your spot on "The List" from someone already on "The List".

Should have known this was coming. Salary cap will be flat in 2013 and 2014, but projected to go up in 2015. Add to that stadium renovations, more expensive players that comes after a SB victory and the expectation of Ravens fans for us to -stay- a SB contending team means you need more money. I still think the Ravens are right at the league average for ticket prices.

I do not really drink so short of my stint in the navy (a very long time ago, the Ravens were not even a team then), I have never run a bar tab large or small, and a week in Ocean City is as lavish as my vacations get, and yet I still do not own any season tickets. That regular eating thing just keeps cropping up. To be honest I have never tried to get them though. I always assumed they were very expensive. If a broke season ticket holder has some, then perhaps there is hope for me after all/

So where do these sharks buy their tickets from? why aren't we buying them instead?

I think they scoop them up as soon as they become available to the public. I remember the tickets selling out within an hour or 30 minutes or something ridiculous last year.

All these online ticket brokers scooping up huge blocks of tickets so they can charge you there fee for those "hard to get tickets". Well they wouldn't be hard to get if they weren't buying them up.

It's even worse then that... Ive only scored TICKETS on release date a few times. NEVER were they Opening day tickets. It's a hoax man, I'm telling ya!
Mind you, I'm a telecom engineer that sets up 20-25 phones for calling the ticketmaster line.... and still nothing!

Got to agree, the wireless reception is horrible.

What happened to all these plans to add "Red Zone" in stadium seats. Or screens so we can view stats? Hell, even an out-of-town scoreboard that shows all the scores at once since we can't get reliable reception in a stadium full of other people trying to get wireless signal.

Most of the "renovations" they listed were of no importance to me. "signing, stores, etc.?" Ummm, okay? Sure, I'd like better video boards. But the rest sounded kind of useless to the regular fan.

If you're trying to keep me coming to games instead of watching at home, better add those features that were talked about being a league-wide mission a couple years ago.

As for the price increase. After 4 years of no increase(all of which included playoff trips), and a Super Bowl championship... I can't really complain about a small increase. I still don't think PSL holders should be forced to pay FULL PRICE for PRESEASON tickets. Either let us decline the tickets entirely, or give us a significant discount on those two games.
Totally agree, especially with regards to preseason tickets. I'm not a PSL holder, but it's just absurd to force ANYONE to pay full price for those games. Any ticket price increase shouldn't affect the price of preseason tickets.

That's true. Preseason games should be priced far differently.

That's not the team's option. The NFL says they have to be the same.

This just tweeted by @Ravens

#Ravens announce 2-year, $35 million investment in M&T Bank Stadium to improve video boards, concession stands and all concourses.

#Ravens are adding video boards at fan entrances. There will be much more purple and brick in concourses. Open kitchen-style concessions.

figured it would something involving the video boards

So the real reason for the ticket increase is revealed lol jk. If you haven't see the photos of what the upgrades will look like, your missing out on the awesome upgrades coming to The Bank. Here is a photo gallery of what those upgrades will look like..

As a PSL owner I always felt paying full dollar for pre-season was bs. I mean one cannot even get face value out of those tickets should they wish to sell them.
However, then I think of PSU fans that pay full face value for games against teams like Akron, Ohio, Youngstown State, etc.
lol

Yet no escalators to the 500 level. Dolphins, BIlls and even the Redskins upgraded their stadiums to have escalators to the upper level and we still have to use the stairs or ramps to get to the upper level of M&T.
