You want to give upwards of 7-8mil a year for a guy who only plays on 2nd and long and 3rd downs?
Won't happen. We've let better players, LBs particularly, walk away due to price/performance and cap problems.

I would agree. Although Kruger was a monster as a pass rusher, $8M is too much to give to a specialist
he's changed. It's been discussed already, didn't read about it much but that's what I gathered anyway. Think it was the ellerbe thread it was in

I heard like 40M for Kruger, i'm not sure that with or without Ed Reed, the Ravens would be willing to pay that. I also heard that the opinion on Kruger from Baltimore is, Suggs and Ngata still got a lot of attention and people weren't really gameplanning against Kruger like the top pass rusher. So the Ravens won't overpay.

Now, I must say that I heard none of this from Ozzie's mouth so who knows what's true. But I find it hard to see the Ravens giving Kruger huge money. I don't think anyone else's contract situation has anything to do with it.
Oh I know, it's a fact Kruger(and every other "top defensive player" we have had has needed the Ravens more than we have needed them. I do understand that it would be a luxury to retain Kruger but if Reed does retire, I have to wonder if Kruger would become a priority.

You don't think a corps of Webb, Jimmy, Graham, Brown and Jackson would be solid?
It would be decent.. Not at all sold on Jimmy yet.. I want to see Webb healthy before claiming him to be 100% back... I am a huge fan of Chykie

Didn't finish my thought when I posted that earlier..

If Jimmy makes a "art Jones" type jump next year, our secondary will be fine with just maybe drafting a 4-6th round guy..
but if he is the same as before, it'll be tough

While I agree with what you're saying here, I wouldn't call CB our biggest need. We have practically nobody back at FS if Ed leaves/retires and the same thing holds true for LT if McKinnie goes after the "big" bucks like I expect him to.

LT would be a bigger need individually but CB as a whole would be a bigger need than OL was my point/opinion

And I'm still expecting we keep Ed

Jimmy certainly needs to step up next year and we'll see how Webb's recovery goes but I just don't see CB as a major need, even with those two question marks.

I'll be mildly surprised if the team doesn't draft a CB at all but considering the healthy talent at the position (three of whom were drafted in recent years), I don't see them taking one till the later rounds.

Well I'm not saying its a major need.. I don't think we have any major needs at all..
Obviously we will if we don't resign ellerbe/a healthy McClain and also if we don't resign reed

But oher is capable of filing in at LT if we don't resign Bmac even if not at a "great level" he is definitely at least serviceable there

I guess it's a tad early to have all this talk anyway..

I thought Oher was serviceable at LT too, but I'm not convinced anymore. He isnt a turnstile, but he is a below average LT.

I dont know how much McKinnie would cost us but if he can come in at a reasonable rate that would be the best option I can forsee.

I do see a lot of needs though, especially on the defense. We need help at DT, OLB (assuming Kruger leaves), ILB, and safety. Maybe Omar Brown or Christian Thompson can be our future at safety but I have to see it.

Needs yes but I wouldn't list them as major needs in the sense that they would break our team if we don't dramatically increase the position.

Again that's all with the thought that we resign reed/ellerbe

Hey, I'm in the Financial Services field, so as long as the numbers and signatures are correct, and my clients are happy, I can continue to feed my family lol. Most of my post here, I do from my cell which has autotext, I don't concern myself with grammar police.

But you did make my point much more short and simpler then I did. Lol great job
I hate auto-spell I swear my phone has a mind of its own too lol

Remember the 2001 team. We can not keep everybody it is just the nature of the cap. Good teams have good players who demand good salaries. Therefore, some of our favorites get bumped off the cart.
