Philly sees Kruger as a cheap Babin.
Well, good luck with him without Suggs elevating Krugers game. Comparable to Babin he is not.

Im not so sure about that... If Kruger were only to rush the passer every down and get a bunch of snaps, I think he's very similar.

Actually I do understand basic formations. I responded to one quote which he never discussed any other teams. It only discussed Kruger at DE and I was making the comment that he does not belong at DE on the Ravens. My mistake was not going back and reviewing all of this previous posts.

you don't seem to understand basic formations of other teams. All the teams he mentioned run a 43. We tried to make him a 34 de when he needs to be the guts of 300 pounds. A 43 de is a whole different ball game. It's what he, and most other 34 olbs are built for, in fact most 34 olbs start of as 43 ends in college and get moved when drafted by a 34 team.

If I took the time to look I'd be willing to bet Kruger played 43 de in college.

In the State of the Ravens press conference Ozzie said it was his choice if he wanted to come back next season.

Not really. I wouldn't count on that. The choice is his. The Ravens will low-ball him or give him some heavily-incentive contract based upon playing time, weight, starting, etc. He might take it here, but I just think he leaves--especially if Birk retires or leaves.

As a loyalist - I always want to see quality kept intact.

But they will have to give Flacco so much money, that Ozzie will have just so much to work with.

So many players are made better by the intangibles - chemistry and desire to play on a top flight team , like we luckily have.

Williams is one of those, he could go - no prob. Kruger showed up to play but I understand his position has a limited life in the NFL, so he will go for the $$$.
Reed is a must re-sign - he is a real character, and we need that in every way , especially with Ray not there.
Ellerbe looks really good too, I think he is one of those guys who is playing better due to the surroundings.
I would love to see Boldin stay around , he has plenty of football in him and he works great with Joe.

Let's see what happens, I believe in our front office, they are a class act. Especially when I see other franchises imploding - even with really good players.

Go Repeat Ravens!!

I also would like to see Leach stick around. He and Boldin should be given new deals with lower cap numbers. Leach can still have a major role in this offense and like Boldin, Leach is a RAVEN!

Cary Williams can go kick rocks. He leaves a lot to be desired. He's EASILY our worst 2nd cover CB (Jimmy Smith is the worst but at least he comes up in big games).

If it came down to Kruger or Reed, I'd pick Kruger. It'd suck to see Reed in another uniform, no doubt. However, I just think at this stage in their careers, Kruger offers us more.

Ellerbe is a stud and we need to resign him at all costs.

Well you obviously havent paid attention to this thread very closely because a large part of the discussion, and what you responded to, was how Kruger will fair on a different team, specifically a 4-3 team where he would play DE as opposed to OLB. So maybe next time before you drop your 2 cents, you should know the context.

At this point Boldin and Leach are equal to Mason and Heap imo. They are Ravens and you'd hate to see them go. Only Heap was drafted here, but for such a young franchise still, guys like Boldin, Mason and Heap define what it means to be a Raven in many ways.

Once a Raven always a Raven.

But with that said, I don't think you can keep those guy for sentimental reasons. Both guys will still be a big part of our offense if they stay, but I think the offense will continue to grow without those guys. I think we as fans look at certain names and wwould hate to see them leave and while the FO feel the same, they have to look forward 2-4 years ahead. That makes decisions so tough. Imagine if Heap was kept for another 2 years? He would have just been released and probably announcing his retirement with with Ray. He would have gotten a much deserved ring and we as fans would have loved it. However at the same time, Pitta probably wouldn't have moved up from #3TE under Cam and he'd be heading into the last year of his contract. We probably would never have known what we have in him. Imagine that.

What about Mason. If we extended him for a couple years and just used Torrey as the #3WR to stretch the field? Jacoby probably would never have been singed and the offense may have never opened up so much. What would we think of Joe, things probably would still be stagnant because Caldwell is using Cam's offense and Mason nor Boldin would open things up for each other.

Then you compare the Kruger situation to JJ and Grubbs. Imo KO is better then Grubbs and Upshaw has the potential to be better then JJ. So what if the Ravens gave into both those guys and gave them the extra couple million they wanted? How would last years drafted have looked? Would we have been able to sign Webb and Pollard? It's interesting to see how these moves and decisions play out.

I hope both Leach and Boldin return and think they will, but it'll be interesting to see exactly what the FO's view is.

I miss the regular season & most especially the playoffs and Super Bowl, where we fought more with visiting fans trying to haze us and spent less time condescending each other and trying to be the one who's right.

Don't worry, another great thing about winning the Super Bowl is that it's a short turn around. Next week is the scouting combine so the news wont be so slow.

The quickly after the Flacco talk will pick up, free agency is right around the corner, followed by pro day and more talk about workout warriors and then it's draft time. OTAs and Mini's follow up and maybe even a personal passing camp by Flacco.

It won't be quite the same, but it should cut down on the bickering

steelers have a bunch of problems of their own AND they rarely go after big time FA's. then again, it IS 105.7
exactly. the Steelers are OVER the cap limit and must cut at least A FEW players just to get under the cap. Kruger will want a fairly big contract , judging by the numbers, Steelers cant get him.... but you never know.

Reeds a Raven for life he's got to stay. And I hope we keep Ellerbe too. Cary wants too much money I don't think we can afford to keep him, which is a shame cause I like Cary. And teams will throw a lot of money at Kruger he is a great pass rusher. I like Upshaw, but I'm not sure he will fill the void at pass rusher. He's a good linebacker, great in coverage and against the run. Hopefully he will develop into a good pass rusher if Kruger does depart.

What about Birk, McKinnie and Boldin? I can stomach losing either on of them, except Q. I would actually pick Quan to stay, if it were a choice between him and Reed to be honest.

I just don't see these comparisons. Mason and Todd had very little, if anything, left to offer as is evidenced in their performances after being released. Boldin and Leach both have at least 2 or 3 years of "all pro" production left in the tank and play much larger roles in the present scheme.

Kruger being let go down right sucks. I have waited years for Suggs to have someone on the other side to help him with pass rush.... now he is leaving. We got to see him come alive for 1 year :( I hope Upshaw can take his place. On the upside I read on Steelers sites the front office plans to cut James Harrison next month. lol this should even the score with the Ravens losing Kruger?
