Dannell Ellerbe on his way to Baltimore

This would be huge if he's coming here to sign an extension. With the way he played down the stretch, I thought someone would try to snatch him from us...

If he's signing a really fairly priced extension, theres something awesome brewing in Baltimore. Ray left these guys with such a sense of family, pride, and allegiance that already Boldin has professed his love for this team and ONLY this team. Perhaps Ellerbe is buying into the same mentality. Thats there's money and theres family....and theres ways to make both work.

I hope anyway.......

I still think he's a little unknown outside of Baltimore. Don't get me wrong, teams are sure interested in him. But i don't think he is as well known as Kruger.

Flacco's contract is going to be time-consuming because Joe Linta wants big money.

If this is indeed a contract extension, how much you guys think it will be worth? Last March Jameel signed a 3 year $10.5 Million contract. I'm going to assume that it may be very similar to Jameel's contract but could be higher money wise and length wise.

It will be a longer contract and thus more money attached. That would be my guess. He's clearly the future playmaking ILB if we're able to resign him. McClain is just the plugger.

Good point. So maybe a ILB we draft this year or in 2014 along side Ellerbe is the future after Ray?

I would say so. Ellerbe is the blitzing & run stuffer thumper. We get a coverage guy like Brown, Hodges, Te'o, Greene, or Minter (I still think Te'o & Mint can cover) to put next to him. I still think ILB is a need regardless of Ellerbe returning.

Bodymore Murdaland is slang for Baltimore.

Tried putting that in my sig a few years ago. The mods were not happy.

Yes! Let's hope it's him re-signing, from an UDFA to a starter for Ellerbe, Ozzie strikes again!

Oh let this be the start of things to come. Hopefully we'll be able to extend Jacoby and Anquan's contracts to lower their cap hit next.
I don't see them lowering Q or Jacoby's contract since both can make a case for being underpaid. Q is #20 on the receivers top pay list and has become Joe's most productive receiver. Jacoby is #39 in top WR pay and is a top KR and major part of the offense in making a SB possible.

I could be wrong but I think Ed Reed and Paul Kruger are definitely gone. Unfortunately Dennis Pita could become the leverage item toward getting Joe to accept a few less dollars.

Pitta is a RFA, they'll put a tender on him. He & Dickson aren't going anywhere.

"Bodymore Murdaland" is an insult to Charm City. If we allowed that, the trolls would all be using it. Nope, not going to happen here.

I'm so proud of this guy. Considering just a short time ago he was in the doghouse for excessively celebrating a DTD in a preseason game, he's come a long way.

Try telling that to anyone who ever watched the wire, which is basically everyone.

Lol or it's just reality? There's no image of Baltimore this board can create that the Wire hasn't already cemented in pop culture. I agree we shouldn't be touting it on the official message boards but us not using it isn't stopping 'trolls' from using it.

It doesn't stop the trolls, but WE do. We can't tell them "no" if it's being used by others.

Crucial signing. Although if we weren't able to retain him, think we express any interest towards Nick Barnett (recently released)?

Anyone have any guesses as to how much Ellerbe would cost per year?
Something similar to Jamael McClain

Ellerbe and McClain can defiantly hold down the mlb spot. Ellerbe can do it all... blitz, stop the run, cover.... pretty solid players at lb... with Kruger out I think we need a pass rusher first pick since kindle didn't pan out... maybe Hamilton will?

I'm talking about replacing Kruger. If Upshaw could do what Kruger did , upshaw would never leave the field.
