Tommy Streeter

61 posts in this topic

I was hoping to see him this year. He was incredibly raw on preseason.

Alot of people expected him to be a early 2nd rounder, and probably could've been a 2nd rounder if he stayed for his senior year.

I am hoping he steps up huge for us for next season

Streeter is all potential, but he has a palette upon with to work. He is a capable WR in the run game at blocking. He is good as a deep threat due to size & speed. He is limited in routes to put it nicely and with questionable hands. If he has the character of Torrey Smith, I think he can be a #1

I'd like to see what Streeter can do in this offseason. He has a lot of potential given his size and speed. If he can work on his hands and route-running we might have a real player.

As much as I'm hoping he turns into a weapon; we've had too many of these guys - just recently, remember Eron Riley?!?!? The heir-apparent to Megatron (apparently)?
Lol from Duke right? I was thinking of him earlier, still disappointed he didn't pan out. ;)

Some guy on WBAL, I think it was Vinnie Cerrato, was joking about Streeter during a bad stretch in OTA's last year about how he had cooking pots for hands because the ball was just going *clang* *clang* bouncing off them play after play.

Like most raw, rounded-off route running inconsistent hands "size speed" guys, the potential is there, but generally guys who look good on paper off field but pretty so-so on-field don't make it. We can always hope though, everyone would like having (former Ravens receiver) Michael Jackson again. Lots of guys who were up and down at first have gone on to have good careers, it's kind of a crap shoot for that one in ten or whatever guy that does.

I love Streeter, but my only concern is the amount of wide receivers ahead of him. For the Ravens, this is a really good problem to have. There's Torrey Smith, Anquan and Jacoby Jones as your 1, 3 and 3 receivers. Then you have a bunch of people behind them that are very good. Besides the terrible game Doss had, I've seen him make great catches. He's much better than that game made him look. Then you have LaQuan Williams, our hometown guy. I've seen him make some incredible circus-like catches. Deonte Thompson came up really clutch in the pre-season. And now you have Tori Gurley to compete with them. I fear he will spend another year on IR. While it might be good for his development, he's not allowed to practice with the team. If somehow Q gets cut, I could see him making the roster, but I don't wanna see Q go just yet.

I would be awesome if he can play some next season, I wanna know what was up with LaQuan Williams? I can't remember seeing him at all this year.

He was my biggest surprise. I thought he had a shot at competing with Jacoby for #3. Boy was I wrong!

What? I didn't see Streeter once this season . I honestly didn't see much of him in college, but it seems a lot of Ravens fans really wanna see him play so go get 'em I guess Tommy!

that's it? and you create a thread for it? ohh my...
Lol. I couldn't have said this any better.

I'm like no update or anything. Maybe some lofty predictions of how he could help the offense something....

I expect Deonte Thompson to have more of an impact offensively next season than Streeter, although I would love for both of them to become offensive options. Depending on how the contract situations play out we may need these kids to step up in a big way.

I was surprise how little L.Williams was used on offense this season considering he got considerable time as an undrafted rookie last year. Laquan was on special teams for many games as a gunner, and I can remember a few holding calls on him for KR.

Streeter, aka James Hardy, v 2.0

And wow, too tall to play in the NFL as a WR?? I guess Randy Moss and Megatron didn't get that memo

Deonte > doss and streeter

Im surprised we didnt see him get ANY offensive snaps this year except in the bengals game.He got some garbage time snaps in week 1 and beat Adam "packman" Jones so I thought,"ok,we'll be seeing alot more from him at wr this year" but nope.Cam and Harbaugh wasted a valuable year that couldve been spent grooming this beast.

Isn't he on IR? How is that wasting a valuable year?

I think they're referring to Deonte Thompson, who was on the roster all year. I think you're referring to TD Tommy.

I'm just glad we can be hopeful about the WR position. I remember when we had the likes of Kelly Washington, Demetrius Williams, Mark Clayton, etc.

i know you can compare him to hardy or whatever but theres something about this guy i'm excited about. He was beating Webb consistently in TC and i see him as a dedicated guy. If he was a smart man, he would've gained some strength during his time on IR. His hands don't worry me since Torrey and Jacoby both fixed theirs.

yeah, imo he had the best pre season of all the recievers... some of those catches he made were pretty spectacular... he has proven hands when his career was on the line in baltimore... i like that.

Boldin, Smith, Jones, Doss, Thompson, Streeter, Williams = one heck of a WR core, especially when all except Boldin and Jones (kinda) are still pretty young and not in their prime yet, and all have shown they have ability.

Edit - I almost forgot, David Reed as well (as long as he can be used properly)

The important thing is that I really feel we now have a coordinator who will USE the talent available on our roster. From what I've seen, the best way for any player to develop is to play meaningful snaps early and often. All of our receivers next year, whoever they are, should get a lot more playing time, and that should really help in their development.

I like Streeter, I mean he was a Cane right?!
But, unless we are losing someone significant I wonder where he falls into the pecking order between Q, Jones, Smith, Pitta, and Dickson? Those are a bunch of able bodied hands ready to catch the ball. Oh yeah, and let's not forget Rice. ;)

Smith, Q and Jones all played great this year. if we aren´t losing any of those three I cannot see any reason to bring some other guy in the mix. Even Jones had very limited snaps on offense. He shined in the right time though.

I am very looking forward to what Jim will do with the offense this offseason. we have so much great talent. now it seems that we finally might have the right scheme to bring up the best of each of them.

He is too raw. We could get Justin Hunter who is just as tall...more athletic and better all around. But I think we need a shorter, stronger receiver like Patton...Woods...or Allen.

I think he could become a poor man's A.J. Green. Tall and speedy, minus the great hands A.J. has.
A poor man's A.J. Green sounds like the rich man's Jacoby Jones to me.
