The way Torrey Smith trained in his 1st offseason, I expect Upshaw to do the same and improve significantly ! He has great potential to be a big name for this franchise !!

I know he was disappointed falling to the 2nd round in last years draft, but I bet in hindsight he wouldn't have it any other way!!!

For the longest time I really wanted Hightower over Upshaw. I thought he was better overall but now looking at Courtney and how he plays, I'm glad he is a Raven. Let's keep digging into the Nick Saban talent pool in years to come!

Lets be real. Upshaw's expectations were high and he performed magnificently. Cody on the other hand lost the job to Kemoautu and is a liability to run's up the middle. We need to draft a DT/DE in the first round to really put pressure on these guys, it's no wonder our run D has been tough to watch this year, our linebackers need help, hopefully Ngata stays healthy next year as well.

The tough grind of football. Some players (Birk, Reed, Suggs, Boldin etc) play great for years and years, and don't get a SB ring. Some lucky players like Upshaw, work hard and are rewarded immediately.

We better not let him become a free agent!

@Raven Manic, you can never have enough good defenders!

@Sizzle AlexI want Te'o also!

Mount Softy, yeah that a great name for Terrence Cody!

How about the next time we talk about Alabama Crimson Tide players we leave Terrence Cody off the list and out of the article. What a disappointment he's been.

Somebody give Upshaw Ray Lewis's old locker and buy him some crab dip and baguettes after every game. Keep that man happy and make sure he goes nowhere.

Wonder if Hightower would have brought the same touch...?

Don't know why some of you are red marking this comment... I think Raven Maniac20 is simply saying that Courtney played very well. I don't think he's saying that we should let Kruger go, we'd all like to see him come back! But, if Kruger is a cap casualty, Upshaw has proven that he's up to the task. Geez, lol!

Wonder if Tommy Streeter has grown up to be a part of our Ravens Wr corps, And yes Upshaw is amazing he's Strong , I Agree that Cody has been a Disappointment, I dont see Kruger leaving he was great, i See Cary leaving searching for that big money contract somewhere else now that he made the superbowl, Reed will stay Trust me...

The ravens should draft Jesse Williams out of Bama this year
[/quote]
I so agree. After listening to the press conference with Ozzie a few days ago, hearing he wanted help at DT, ILB and Safety, my first thought was Jesse Williams. Could you imagine him, Ngata AND Kemoeatu? Not to mention Art Jones and McPhee. But still, I think Upshaw showed the most determination on his forced fumble play. He missed the tackle in the backfield and was down on his stomach and then he gets up and runs over to the RB and punched the ball out. That's what I call a motor.

This kid is why im not sure if I want to resign Kruger. I mean of course if we can get Kruger I would love him back, but if he comes and ask the house we have a great player in Upshaw.Ive been really impressed on how well Upshaw has been able to set the edge and run stop, but we do need to get him better at pass rushing, I think he only had 1 or 2 sacks this season.

If we draft any Inside Linebacker I would want it to be Arthur Brown out of Kansas State or Alex Ogltree out of UGA. The guys hit hard and are very athletic so we could line them up on TEs like Jimmy,Gronk, and Hernandez and it not be a miss match.

Everyone turning on Cody, yes he has got pushed around this year. Its how you respond and bounce back that defines you as a player dont give up on him he showed alot of potential in the 2010 and 2011 season, I dont understand why alot of you are just throwing him under the bus like that.

i agree that its too early to give up on cody but if he plays next season as he did this season than his future in bmore will most likely come to an end. get in shape and explode off the line of scrimmage big man!!

JakeNumber55, theres a lot of people on here that will throw a player under the bus when they are down and the next minute if they make a great play or have a really good game will declare them a BEAST. They do it from Ray Lewis (remember he was too old and slow, better to cut him now before he embarrasses himself) to Flacco (he'll never be elite, he has no fire or passion, he cant move in the pocket) to Torrey in his 1st preseason to Jimmie Smith (1st round bust) to just about every player we have. These people hop on and off the band wagon like a toad on a hot plate with out knowing the real reasons behind the decline in productivity.
We ned to give every player a chance. As long as Ozzie and Harbs see something in them we need to support them too.

With how much pass-rushers are getting paid these days, Kruger's gonna cost $6-8m to keep. That's way too much. Let the Carolinas of the NFL throw their money at him. Upshaw is the future of the Ravens at that position, and if Kruger is let go, fans should know better than to question Ozzie's decision.

I had said this to a friend on Friday. He's coming off back to back championships. From BCS to the Super Bowl and actually contributing in both. He should be a beast, hope he can just improve his pass rush this off season.

All they have to do is beef up the NT a solid NT that eats up blocks can make any LB look great to me that's why outside of this past year the defense has always been great they always had big DT's that could let there LB's roam I don't know what happened to Cody he regressed so much it was ridiculous he played excellent in 2011-2012 this year he just played so poor though

I remember hearing on 105.7 that Courtney Upshaw is Jarrett Johnson. A great player who really sets the edge in the run game. I thought Upshaw played great this season, kudos to Ozzie for trading down and still getting his man

Upshaw needs to continue to improve, he showed a lot promise as the season went on. If he continues to improve we would another terrific linebacking corps.

Upshaw may be the reason Kruger may be with another team next year which is too bad because i like Kruger. In other local news, Ray Rice/Ravens victory rally was rescheduled on Saturday here in Ray's hometown of New Rochelle, NY due to Nemo the snowstorm! Rally has been rescheduled to March 2 on the steps of city hall. Come up to New Ro Baltimore and see some of us fans. From the PROJECTS TO THE PENTHOUSE=PRICELESS! And now a Super Bowl ring! Thanks for drafting our boy Baltimore! Thanks OZZIE!

Congrats, Up.. So proud for you man...All those backers that went before you were meant to, bro. So you could come to your rightful new team, The World Champion Ravens. We got it right, selecting Up. And now, you have what all those other over hyped rookie backers DONT... A World Championship Super Bowl ring. And you did help win it most importantly. Congrats, Up.

Courtney won two national championships at Alabama and one Super Bowl with the Ravens but... my team beat his high school team in the state championship in 2006 when they were undefeated. I played on defense and he played defensive end and tight end (6-2 210 at the time) and he was a stud. I'm so glad he is a Ravens! The quarterback of that team was Jerrell Jernigan.. they ran a triple option that was dirty but our defense was stacked (Alfred McCullough at DT, William Ming at OLB, and Rob Ezell was our quarterback).
