Nicely done.
I just realized I read your question wrong, my bad. So far all the votes are for no guaranteed money so thats what will happen.

So, people have voted thus far to make it where if you cut a player you don't get to lose his guaranteed money?
guaranteed salries, the bonuses are still going to be dead money, but some teams guarantee salaries as well.

***VOTING OUTCOME***

-I am ending this one early as it seems like consensus

ISSUE: Guaranteed Salaries will NOT be used when cutting/trading

When you cut and trade go to Spotrac and ONLY use BASE SALARY to identify how much you save when cutting or have to pay for a player in a trade

No because some bonuses are guaranteed and some are, they aren't all differentiated between, so while some should count as dead money if a player was cut and others shouldn't, but should be a saving, there is no way off knowing.

I'm for bonuses for the following.

They are taken into account in the final cap number

For example the Jets are about 140 mil in cap right now, but that includes Jason Smith's roster bonuses of 12-13 mil.

So if we exclude them, then we have to account for that and have an adjusted cap.

Yes to include bonus, using the "other bonus" column on spotrac as we began with.
The thing is you cant just use "other bonus". That can refer to other types of bonuses. We are specifically referring to roster bonuses.

You have to check Rotoworld and see what the "other bonus" is.

Can you tell me which option we are currently running? I assume option 2.

I want to keep it however it is. Otherwise, we could have some very complicated back-trade situations.

Grim we are currently using option 2
I dont understand what you mean "rotoworld does not detail how roster bonuses are structured. There is no structure. If you are on the roster you get the bonus and it applies solely to that year's cap.

Meant it that Rotoworld may not have figures for every player who has a roster bonus - similar to our last vote with guaranteed salary - I will update post for better explanation

Vote currently is 7 to 4 Against the roster bonuses

I vote to cut roster bonuses. It's one of the main reasons why teams cut players so it adds realism. Just as long as signing bonuses aren't included I'm fine.

7-5 against roster bonuses

Ok. I have also been checking on Spotrac, and if you actually click on the player in question, most of the time they give the details as well. At least every one I have looked up.

Are yous sure these rosters bonuses are all bonuses that become guaranteed on a certain date and aren't option bonuses that when the contract was signed was guaranteed. Ie a split signing bonus which the ravens do often, see ngata for example.

No to the current issue that was specified in the above post.
I'm changing my vote based on looking at last year. We counted roster bonuses for cuts and trades so I am FOR roster bonuses now.

6-5 FOR roster bonuses[/background]
