It wasn't aimed at you and I saw that. I just wanted to put it out there.

It seems like many people are upset with each tag that gets handed out.

Upset is a kind word for what I feel towards you for tagging Byrd.

Are you still interested in the other guy you wanted though?

I am talking to two GMs about that position. I'm evaluating both prospects. I'll make a decision tonight.

Sounds good, I'll give a better deal though.

What is it with people trying to play Fantasy Football? I understand the Lions are against the cap but there are other ways to get out of cap hell other than trading away Franchise players like Suh and Stafford.

Like what?...half their cap is tied up in 3 players. Getting any value back for a player is better than cutting him. He's already traded Pettigrew and cut Burleson.

Tagged Jake Long. I thought about letting him FA, but the Tag is relatively low for an OL and with some of the cap room teams have letting him hit the market is a gamble.
His tag in this is low, but I think his actual tag is much higher.

I think people are just saying that you can take TIME and hear other offers before making a deal...we do have over 10 days till FA and there may be better deals out there...spread the word of what you are offered and work the other GMs..negotiate

Teehee. Good thing our mock is being "realistic".

You'd think with this being the third year we'd stop having these ridiculous arguments over realism when no one attempts to establish any sense of it. I wish we'd just do a draft and leave the rest of this nonsense out of it.

Jake Long get's like 125% of his salary because it's past the tag number, or something like that.
this I didn't know. Why hasn't this been implemented? Your post above, does that mean you'd just rather do the draft?

What's the problem with the Suh trade exactly? The guy is a major character risk and he can't defend the run and who, in my book, has regressed since his rookie year. Yes the trade might have been more fair if they didn't swap firsts, but overall it's like the Santonio Holmes deal for the Steelers.

I'd much rather just do the draft, luckily New England doesn't need to do much, if anything, in FA. All this pointless bickering is annoying, this was supposed to be something fun but people keep blowing this out of proportion in an attempt to 'win' something that doesn't have a definable end game.

Its a complete ripoff and Suh is a top player at his position.

Is it possible to void trades? If so, the veto process would be quicker. Gabe said I should listen for other options....
If so, I pull out.... If not, well.............

If you pull out then the veto process ends, thats what happened with the other controversial one.

He's really not. The media has made him out to be more than he is. He is a sieve against the run, and like Irrelevant pointed out it's not like they don't have promising depth at DT.
id be all up for just a draft again, but I guess doing all this adds another wrinkle.
It adds a wrinkle that doesn't mean anything. There's no realistic way to handle FA since you can't negotiate with your current players, or sim their interests in how they would select another team. Money isn't everything. Sure the person who gets stuck with the Raiders, or whoever else traded away all their picks for the year, would get shafted, but there'd be less bickering.

Maybe we should just do FA and draft with no trades? Trades seem to be the sticking point...or maybe only draft pick for draft pick trades once the Draft gets started?

This adds to it but I think I like to keep it to just a draft again. Though technically we would end up trading players to get more picks so adding a free agency period does make sense. If we were to decide to just do the draft, then we would allow real life Free Agency to occur and then start the draft using those rosters.

I'm liking gabes idea but this has started now, we can't really cancel all trades and just begin free agency can we?
It's probably too late, but then again if all trades were voided we just be back where we started so no harm no foul right?

Thing is your right, it has started already. Though if you think about it, we are doing it wrong anyway. Trades can not occur until Free Agency starts, we have been doing trades prior to starting free agency.
