Pittsburgh Steelers set to implode

418 posts in this topic

Sorry, I just don't see the Steelers imploding - they have depth due to pretty good drafting (especially in the trenches). Ben has been in three Super Bowls and won two and even without Wallace don't forget about Brown, Sanders, and argueably the best TE in the business Heath Miller. They will have two decent RB's in Redman and who I predict will be pretty darn good - Jonathon Dwyer. That combined with a good defense and the fact that they hate us will make them tough to beat next season.

Nobody wants them to implode more than I do, especially since I am married to a crazed Steeler fan but I just don't see it happening.
Miller isn't arguably the best the best would be Gronkowski, Graham, and Gonzalez if he doesn't retire.

Who got released with that? I don't see any significant change in the rosters from '04 to '05.

hahahaha he doesn't know because he's just quoting the tagline of a recent article "The Steelers March Massacre of 2005 turned out just fine".

I heard that Kendrell Bell guy was awful. Oh, what's that? He won DROY and was a Pro Bowl player? Oh, shucks.

You're right, they didn't do much after that but at the time, it was considered a huge loss in depth/young players and how were the Steelers going to manage with a second year Quarterback after losing to a Patriots squad they had no business losing to. It was going to 'send shockwaves throughout the organization'.

For a moderator, you really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? I mean, if you're going to criticize, make sure you have something to criticize about with facts and not the Ravens bias.

Maybe I'm expecting too much.

I don't appreciate words being put into my mouth. I did see it from Dave Bryan and, shockingly, I opened the article and read what it was about. Holy [profanity deleted], can you imagine doing that? I much be vastly ahead in human development to open an article and read what was inside.

I didn't have to. See, I've been a Steelers fan for a long time and remember the talking heads saying the exact same things that are being regurgitated here. The amount of fecal matter that just spewed through in one post is laughable. Nice try, though. I suggest removing whatever sand you have in your tampon and coming back to the conversation with something intelligent to say.

Oh, and I'll enjoy my ban for the tampon comment. S'all good. Evidently, this forum has the thinnest of skinned Ravens fans.

Seems like Steeler fans, along with their team, are always set to implode :34853_shakehead:

Oh and Kendrell Bell played 3 games for the 2004 Steelers - with Foote and Farrior starting all 16 games at the ILB spots. He was already replaced, one of the easiest decisions to cut the Steelers ever made. Can't believe that is pointed as a "loss".

Ryan Clark says that Woodley being blasted shows "fracture" within the Steelers.
“We all have arguments with our brothers, sisters, cousins, but that stays in-house. What you talk about then stays there and it doesn’t get out to the public. So that is the problem,” Clark said. “That shows that this team that is normally close, you had the Joey Porters, the Alan Fanecas, just down the line, leader after leader, this team was close-knit. It shows there is a fracture in that. I think that is the most disappointing thing about that coming out.”
The Steelers are like drug addicts with restructuring contracts. Some players like Big Ben have restructured 2,3,4 years in a row. It's getting ridiculous. I thought this would be the year where they finally realized they can't go any further and have a bit of a salary cap purge. I guess I was wrong with the new slew of restructures they have done recently.

There is no doubt about it...eventually they will have double digit cap hits for players who aren't even in the league anymore because they pushed so much salary down the road. They will implode eventually just because of the salary cap mess they have gotten themselves into.

Yeah just read they restructured Lawrence Timmons and Antonio Brown. Brown just signed last year! Heard they are also working on a restructure with Roethlisberger.

You're right, they are just kicking a bomb down the road, it's going to explode sooner or later

#1- Okay, Im going to go out on a limb here and ask you who is good that they drafted lately? Cameron Heyward, hasnt done anything as a #1 pick. David Decastro got injured and might not be the same. Mike Adams got blasted all year and isnt a LT IMO. The last decent player I think they drafted was Pouncey, but he didnt even fare out well this year.

#2 Yes Ben has been to Super Bowls and won. So has Tom Brady, what is the point there? Eli Has won two Super Bowls and has a much better team behind him than Ben and they couldnt touch us with our new offensive mind. What are a group or old aged turkeys going to do against us next year. Pittsburgh stubbornly stays old and continues to get older. They haven't drafted well and have no real supporting cast. Brown is a great talent but in that system, he will not succeed. His production will go down for sure. Heath is not one of the best in the game either.

#3 as I said before, they are getting old on D. Ike isnt what he thought he was. He cannot cover Boldin or Torrey very well. Who are the other CBs? I dont know any of their names. Do you? Troy Polomalu shouldnt be considered on of the best Safeties in the game anymore. He made no difference this year and hasnt played a full season since...? Hell I dont know lol. They are againg and not supplementing with good drafts. Their Coordinator calls a wonderful D. the players wont be the same next year. The only good player they have on D anymore is Lamar (Outta Shape) Woodley.

The team keeps on diggin themselves deeper. Once they reach China and that time bomb goes off, they will be a bottom dweller for years. Lets see who loves them then....

Agree! IMO , they haven't drafted any note worthy players on defense and the offense lacks a RB, an Oline and TE depth. Heck, Mendenhall was selected 23rd overall... he's pretty much done..

I disagree on one thing... Timmons is a nice player that has worked out.

Trust me, I hope you are right. I would love the Steelers to finish 0-16 next season, but I am just not seeing the doom and gloom as most are predicting. I love the fact that they seem to be losing the unity of their locker room and that is making me very happy!

They aren't an 0-16 they were the top defense last season. But they aren't championship caliber. I'd like to sweep them each season with us beating them in the AFC Championship before we win the Super Bowl every year. That way they don't get high draft picks.

YUP. Excited for those days when the restructuring comes back as loads of dead money for players who are no longer on the team.
