Having said that though, Pees impressed me with his ability to make adjustments and to simplify the schemes to each player's strength.

he didn't get it at first but after the first couple months he saw what makes the Baltimore Ravens defenses great. Had to say i had a knock on him early but theres no doubts from me over here today ! thanks for proving me wrong Dean.
I would say the opposite is true. What Dean's problem was at first is that he didn't try to change the defense. It needed to be simplified. The sad truth is that Ray, Ed, and the guys who replaced JJ and Suggs just weren't as talented as what we've had in the past. He tried to do what we did with Pagano with crazy blitz packages and elaborate assignments and it was just too much for our young guys and our old guys.
Once he settled down, simplified the defense and focused on fundamentals things started to turn around.

I still dont like Pees philosophy because it almost cost us the superbowl. We dominated the first half in man coverage. We switched to a safer zone to force them to eat up time and look at what happened. They shouldnt have been able to make up 22 points of deficit in half a quarter.
You do realize we just won the Super Bowl? Sigh. It was not the scheme that got us chewed up it was the fact that our talent on D is not what it used to be. Ray Lewis' ghost was out there, Pollard was hurt, Haloti left the game... Oh yea and that guy... what was his name? Oh yea Colin Kaepernick... ask the NFC, apparently he's pretty good. C'mon man.

Yeah, I agree with you a lot here. I think Pees tried to do too much and it cost us initially. I like what he did. His adjustments were very good. I think 2013 will be a great season, because for the first time in a very long time we will have continuity. Coordinators won't be leaving. Position coaches seem to be set. It's actually pretty nice. Perhaps we can see some major changes & improvements. I'm excited to say the least.I would say the opposite is true. What Dean's problem was at first is that he didn't try to change the defense. My 2 biggest gripes is that he can't manufacture pressure with our front 4 in the nickel
How is that his fault? I dont think that there is a DC on the face of the planet who can generate consistent pressure with the front four when Kemo/Cody and Jones consist of 2 of the 4.

I hope you are kidding, because we played a ton of man and man/zone all game long.

I think Jones is getting significantly better at creating pressure. You disagree? He's really come on at rushing the QB.How is that his fault? I mean in the sense that he hardly ever stunts or twists etc. Obviously he can't make people win their 1 on 1 battles, but I feel he can do more to help manufacture space and rush lanes for the front. Pagano did an excellent job with that last year. Pagano was better with the fronts than even Rex was, and Pagano was never even a Dline coach unlike Rex.How is that his fault? Has he improved? Yep. Is he anywhere near a guy for opposing defenses to be concerned about? Not in my opinion.

I may be wrong, but I don't think there is much he can do to generate a rush from this line.
Perfect example was the enormous effect losing Ngata had in the third quarter of the SB. When Ngata got hurt, all of a sudden, Gore was able to reach the second level at will, and our pass rush seemed to take a hit as well.
But not only that, we really don't line up with four men very often anyway. Suggs rarely has his hand in the dirt; he crowds the line often, but the other three guys (Ngata, Kemo/Cody and Jones) play the traditional 3-4 roles.
Anywho, I like Pees, and there aren't many guys I'd rather have than him (there are some, but as far as I know, none of them are available)
