Harsh reality of retirement, especially for a legend . I bet Ray Rice is still sobbing.

I just got this picture at work and my eyes watered.

What a sad day!

Thank you Ray, for every tiem you've inspired me to be a better man. To power through. To confront the fear. And to embrace the hate.

You we're a gift from above my brother!

They should cut his locker out and place it in the Hall of Fame, and leave that space empty. No one should ever take his locker

This day had to come up some point, but we have been fortunate enough to have him leading the team for 17 year. Glad we sent him out appropriately. Thanks Ray. Lucky us for being a part of it.

Definitely miss him, but don't think they should leave it empty. Give it to next year's leader. Either Ed or Joe, imo.

Wow, Ray is truly done... I didn't know when it would hit me... It just did...

I will wear my Ray Lewis jersey for the final time today. When I got it last year, it was already worn and weathered, just like Ray. But I loved it no matter how harsh it's past situations were, just like Ray. I wore it 52 hours before gametime before every big game, wearing it to bed, church, martial arts, through every situation, I remained loyal to the cause, just like Ray. But as of late, the stitches are looser, and the colors faded, and the numbers are all but gone, I believe it's time to hang it up, just like Ray.

I will retire my beloved 52, but while I leave an old era, I will enter a new. I plan to wear a white #5 in support of our new General, the one who now carries the torch. I will wear white because our future is bright, with many more rings in store. No one can replace Ray, but only one can carry his torch. If anyone should touch the General's seat, it should be the General.

RISE & CONQUER!!!

Put his statue next to Unitas in front of the stadium... and model it after this:

My Dragon-wife and I talked about that yesterday! No need for him to linger around, he turned the page and we'll miss him!

We were saying that he'll probably come back and forth to the area often! He's pretty good friends with a State Trooper buddy of ours and, per him, they were all meeting later this week!

Anyone thinks Ray Lewis will be hired as a coach
IMHO it's too soon! The team must build a "post-Ray Lewis" persona first!

Well, last year he said he wanted to go home and coach high school football, mentor kids and watch Junior's progress at "the U"!

Hard to say! Cal Ripken got as far away from the Orioles as he could,.... but Ray didn't leave with a bad taste in his mouth!
Would be great though but it's too soon!

We all should be happy that we got to witness what he did for our team but now it's time to look forward.

jrs034 I like that idea of leaving his locker with his uniform in it with a glass window so it's as if Lewis is always with the team. Wish he would have stayed one more year so we can draft his replacement and Lewis take him under his wing. I hope we can keep Ellerbe.
