The Giants LT would be a good pick up but I'm not sure the amount of money he is looking for and whether the Giants may franchise him or not.

Thanks For Your Feedback and Exactly the Reason I Chose NixonI hate this years tackle class. Before two of the top 3 prospects returned to school, there was a chance that Eric Fisher would have fallen to us but now he is suddenly a top 10 prospect. It's pretty shallow and there aren't any plug and play LTs right now. Hopefully in free agency someone around 30 will be a cap casualty.

I don't think we have a shot at Johnson, Joeckel or Fisher so I'm just throwing those names out of the hat. That leaves me with three guys.
Chris Faulk, LSU, OT: reminds me of Andrew Whitworth. First, I have no idea why you say he is injury-prone. That sounds like you don't even know about him as a prospect. Second, he isn't injury-prone. He tore his ACL once. That's not injury-prone. He has good agility, lateral speed, flexibility, and technique. He can pass protect & help with run blocking. He can take speed & power rushers. He has practiced against some of the best pass rushers in the country. He has also played some of the best. His only knocks are his ACL & his conditioning. Other than that, he would be a 1st round pick.
Terron Armstead, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, OT: reminds me of a Branden Albert. He doesn't have the size but has the arms, agility, footwork & llateral speed to play LT. His strength is probably a knock against him--he may need some work & conditioning but he's talented. I think he can be coached up into a great player. May take a year.
Xavier Nixon, Florida, OT: reminds me of a Bryant McKinnie. He has better straight speed than lateral speed, but his physical attributes are prototypical. That doesn't mean he will be dominant. He has been lazy & that's a big concern. I didn't make the McKinnie comparison just because of work ethic. He reminds me so much of McKinnie except for the height. He has good footwork & athleticism, so that's a big plus. He needs to work on his technique the most out of these three prospects. I think he will take longer to develop--possibly.
And a sleeper prospect...
David Bakhtiari, Colorado, OT: This guy has the speed, footwork, & athleticism to be a good LT, but I'm concerned with his height. Still, he may be a good prospect to take. He's also strong & a good run blocker. If he was a bit taller, I think he could be a 1st round pick.

I think we give McKinnie a one year deal, and trade up for a LT. We need a long term LT, and McKinnie can be a stop gap until that long term guy is ready.
Who would you trade up for?

I think there are some talented prospects in the draft, just no starters. Bell's already been cut, not that he was that great but he may not be a bad idea since he's been injured. He could be healthy.I hate this years tackle class. Who would you trade up for?
No idea, really. Didn't follow college football much this season, and I haven't started doing my offseason prospect research yet. I just know that I want a top dollar LT in the draft.

Bakhtiari is an interesting prospect I mentioned the other day, I think he could be a decent mid round pick that has LT potential he was one of the few bright spots for Colorado. I'm not a fan of Nixon and I like Armstead I just wish he would have played against more top tier competition. Faulk on the other hand is a fantastic run blocker for a LT and a special pass blocker with everything you look for in a player. I wouldn't be against taking him in the 1st or trading down and taking him in the top of the 2nd if that's what it would take to grab him.Well, I posted this in another thread where we were discussing it, but OK...I would be careful about making threads around here when we have the subject being discussed in another thread. Just a tip.

Agreed on Bakhtiari. I think he could be a good RT, too, if we didn't think we would re-sign Oher & if we decided Reid wasn't cut-out to be a RT. I love Faulk. I think we might have to take him in the 2nd, however. Something is telling me he will jump up boards (at least the fan mocks, because I think he may already be high up on GM draft boards) once the combine comes around & affirms his potential. I'd take both Faulk & Bakhtiari in the draft and be happy with it. It depends on where both guys go. If Bakkhtiari goes on the 3rd day like in the 5th, I'd take him as a prospect. I think there's a lot of potential.Bakhtiari is an interesting prospect I mentioned the other day, I think he could be a decent mid round pick that has LT potential he was one of the few bright spots for Colorado. I don't think he has the footwork, lateral quickness or athleticism to be a LT. He looks like a RT-only to me. Jmo.It all depends on whether BigMac retires and whether or not we cn sign him to a contract. Hopefully we can sign him to a cheap 1 yr deal and keep this elite o-line that got us to the super bowl, and then draft a project left tackle in the later rounds of the draft for the future. Anyone like Brennan Williams out of NC? He looked good before he got injured. We could get him in the 4th.

That wouldn't be a bad deal getting both since it could potentially save us money by not needing Oher as much.Agreed on Bakhtiari. I had the same opinion about his athleticism, he could make a good T eventually but is a project overall.I don't think he has the footwork, lateral quickness or athleticism to be a LT. He looks like a RT-only to me. Jmo.

Could Kyle Long be a possibility at LT with our 2nd round pick? I like his bloodline and athleticism.
It looks like he will have to move to G or at least RT in the NFL.

I don't like any of the Left Tackles in this class either. There is no way we could trade all the way up from 32 to 5 or 6 to grab Eric Fisher. Since the top two tackles stayed back for the 2014 Draft, let's give McKinnie a 1-2 year incentive heavy contract that is pending on what his weight is and if he can stay in shape. I would hope he would want to stay in shape on a contract like that, especially since he would be the starter. Then in 2014, let's trade up for Lewan or Jake Matthews.

This might be the first post I seen where he's made some sense.

I don't think Ozzie would do that trade even if he was getting a Joe Thomas type player.

Long could be. There have been some guards who have made great LTs like Albert. The problem is, while he is athletic I don't know if he has the strength or lateral speed to be a LT. He might be strictly a guard at the NFL-level.Could Kyle Long be a possibility at LT with our 2nd round pick? I like his bloodline and athleticism.
