Jacoby Jones MVP?

41 posts in this topic

Flacco threw for 287 yards and 3 TDs. He also had the gutsiest call of the game when he optioned out of the run at the line and threw a sideline pass to Boldin on 3rd and inches. He threw another pass down the line to Boldin while running for his life. Honestly, I had thought he had just thrown the ball away and then, nope, he knew what he was doing. Joe deserved MVP. No contest.

This. Boldin was great, as was Jacoby, but Flacco had an all-time great game to go along with arguably the greatest postseason ever by a QB. Besides QB is the most impactful position on the field.

Well, according to the sore loser SF fans
"Flacco is a choke artist! He throws lobs to Anquan Boldin, one of the 5 best WR in the NFL, and he catches horribly thrown balls. So Boldin deserved MVP"

For the record, he was in pace to have one of the greatest SBs ever before the blackout. So he did deserve the MVP

The thing I love about the analysis of our offense is that people just don't understand it. I think honestly Cam Cameron deserves credit for the way our offense is designed. He just fell down in the execution. They say Flacco"underthrows" receivers or just "chucks up a punt"--they are very, very wrong. Our offense is based on chemistry. We coach our guys to run to a spot and wait for the ball. They have a distinct advantage in this situation, much like a fast break in basketball the defender's back is going to be to the ball 90% of the time so the receiver just has to have to strength to beat his reactionary contact. Perfect system for guys with uncommon physical tools like Flacco and Boldin because defenders just can't anticipate that kind of athleticism. People want to get on Rahim more for that busted coverage but the exact same thing happened to Donte Whitner. They just don't realize how far and how high Flacco can launch the ball. The best part of it is, when they adjust to that distance, it's going to leave massive voids underneath for guys like Deonte, Doss, and Pitta to devour for years to come. Then, if Steeter develops the way we all hope he will, 2 years from now we'll see Flacco eclipse the 5000 yard mark. The possibilities are endless!!!!!!

So yeah, I recall debating with my friend that Jacoby Jones could be a possible Super Bowl MVP after his return TD and the seventy something TD from Flacco. Not trying to take anything away from Flacco at all, but what do you guys think?

I think he should have been MVP.

Not only the return, but he really was the one who made that long pass work. It was underthrown, he had to wait on it, then make two really great moves in the open field to finish for the score.

Joe played amazing in the first half, but like pretty much the entire team... he completely disappeared once halftime was there.

I can't take anything away from Flacco, he definately deserved the MVP. his performance was legendary and transcendent....however you have to give props to my man Jacoby. So many people were saying he was just another bum when we picked him up to start the year, but this guy is different. He has been a playmaker and difference maker all year. he is the epitomy of Ozzie's work. Signed late in free agency and has been a monster performer throughout the year. he should be the first guy signed to a contract extension. Had to update my Jacoby photo after that Super Bowl performance.

There are only 3 quarterbacks in the NFL history who have 11 TD, 0 INT in a single postseason, and Joe is one of them. If that doesn't deserve SB MVP, I don't know what is.....

Who had the most to lose? Who was under the most pressure? Who had to lead the team (remember the 3rd and short play Joe audibled into) and get the ball into Jacobys and Qs hands? These awards are always biased towards the QB, but this time they got it right. All I can remember is how often Joe was extending plays, running around, shedding tackles. Clearly Jones and Boldin made the biggest plays, but Joe did spread the ball out pretty evenly, so I don't think you can claim, that Flacco depended on either one of them. Remember the 2 huge receptions by Ed Dickson? Didn't Pitta score a TD?

Wow what to say about Jacoby Jones .... well I think he's alittle conceded and arrogant every time he makes a great play he's just got that look on his face like to say " I told you i was the Best ".... But john had Faith in him and i guess that he had something to Prove to John.... but i think they should of made the Whole Dam team MVP cause it was a team effort....

Could've been, sure. There were a few people who could've been MVP. Boldin as well. We played as an ultimate team on Sunday with great performances throughout, not just depending on one guy.

But the way Joe has played throughout the entire playoffs, the SB MVP is well deserved.
[/quote]That's my take on it. Even if Jacoby had a huge Super Bowl the MVP should have gone to Joe. Joe was our MVP of the playoffs and he deserved the recognition and vindication of being the Super Bowl MVP. Even though Linta will use that as leverage -_-

u can add ellerbe to the MVP talk too, he made TD saving tackle the led to the goal line stand too, when gore broke a long run reed and others missed tackles, ellerbe came in and forced him out bounce,
