That would be a lot of money...not sure how much Kruger would cost on the Tag, but i don't think we could afford that. That could put off bringing back Ellerbe. And I'd much rather have Ellerbe back than Kruger.

Oz has made it a top priority to get Ellerbe back. He will probably come back.

Kruger is as good as gone, as some team will serverly overpay for him.

If anything, the tag seems to be going to Ellerbe or Reed. Hopefully, we get Ellerbe to a deal, and retain Reed via franchise tag

I think I'd rank the signing priorities as Flacco, Ellerbe, Reed, Kruger, then McKinnie.

Not sure if Kruger can thrive on other team.

Pass rushers tend to either stay in one team, or get cut pretty fast. Ala Jason Babin, Ray Edwards.

If he wants to stay here, he'll need to take a sizable paycut. His only talent is getting to the QB, and doesn't really do much else.

If Joe does get his new deal then hopefully Ellerbe will get his deal, and Reed gets the tag. As much as i love Kruger's pass rush abilities, i don't see him coming back. 8 mil per year seems like a lot for Kruger.

We need Ellerbe more than Kruger at this point. Wish we could keep him but $$$ Same thing with Bouldin. As for Reed I would like nothing more than to also see him play his entire career as a Raven but between $$$ and him being damaged goods barely able to tackle I really don't see it happening. We know he's not taking a hometown discount.

I can see deals for Flacco and Ellerbe. In a perfect world, we'd get a deal with Reed too, extend McKinnie for a year, and tag Kruger.

As it is, I don't see Reed getting a new contract. I don't know whether the FO will let Reed or Kruger go, but I suspect they'll go with Reed.

This is why we drafted Upshaw. We wont get the same pass rush so we will have to find another way to generate it but we will most likely have a better rush defense with Upshaw.

If the past shows anything, its that most former Ravens LB's never really thrive on another team. It helped Kruger that Sizzle was pass-rushing on the other side of him. Even though Sizzle was never really 100% this year, teams still have to watch him.

Kruger is a situational pass rusher. A very good situational pass rusher, yes, but only a situational pass rusher. He isnt worth franchise tag money.

Technically yes but realistically we probably won't have the cap room.

IMO, this is the move to make. He has more value on open market than older guys like Boldin and Reed. And I think Kruger made more noise this season than Ellerbe, personally, but I can see other options.

I could see us tag Reed when we sign Flacco.

First off, Kruger has improved each year and a healthy Suggs and Ngata will mean huge things for Kruger next year. With that said, you can't tag him because Mario Williams contract along will make the tag huge money. I think the smarter play is to actually sign Joe and tag Ed because

A. It's much cheaper to franchise a Safety.
B. Ed biggest reason for continuing the fight was a ring imo. Now that he has it, the whispers of his family demands will only get louder to him.

The Ravens have to make sure that Ed really wants to play another 2-3 years or does he just want that Ray Lewis type send off.

For me, I think the Priority list after Flacco obviously, would be Ellerbe, Kruger, then Reed. Reason being is, the Ravens have to look towards the future of this team and although it will be a offensive led team, the D still has the talent to be top 10, with a few pieces. I love Ed and really hope he returns, but the youth of this team is more important.

Much like Ray, Ed will be allowed to test the Market and see if a team is willing to pay him 7M per year for maybe 2yrs of service. I don't even think the Pats, Jets nor Colts would pay it. I can't see Ed leaving Baltimore for anyone else. But if you franchise him, you force him to expect the deal the Ravens want or pay on a 1yr deal

Am I the only one who is not that, that worried about losing Paul Kruger, at this point? I know Kruger came-up big, this year, especially since he was bound to hit free agency market (in March) and, yeah, it just seems so wrong to (essentially) "downgrade" a player after just winning the Super Bowl; but, honestly, I believe Courtney Upshaw is ready to make an impact as a starter.

I mean, Upshaw already has the whole "Jarret Johnson-like", stopping the run role down, pretty much perfectly. So, I guess it is easy to say the sky is the limit for Courtney Upshaw.

Kruger is gone. No way we can bring him back imo, unless he takes far, far less to stay with us.

I like Kruger, his last name is neat, but I'd rather have Ellerbe .. I rap when I'm at work *Deep voice* "Ellerbe, Ellerbe, Ellerbe, Ellerbe-be-be-be-be-be-be-be" *repeat*
