UPDATED: MESSAGE BOARDS CLOSING AFTER DRAFT   03/08/2017

After careful consideration, we have decided that we will sunset our message boards after this year's NFL Draft. Since we opened our boards a decade ago, the digital landscape has greatly evolved. While we understand there remains a smaller group of highly-engaged fans who participate in conversation in our forums, a significant amount of the dialogue about our team and our games has migrated away to other social media platforms over the past several years. Our message boards will remain up and running through Friday, May 5th, and will be removed on May 6th. We recognize that this change may upset avid members of our community. However, we look to utilize our time and resources to focus on how we can best connect with our fans across an array of digital/social outlets. If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities. In addition, the commenting feature on our website articles will remain intact. Members will be able to continue using their boards account to log in and share their thoughts at the bottom of every news story. We’d like to thank all the Flock members and our moderators who have brought thoughtful conversation to this space and made our community great for the last 10 years. Ravens Social Media Hub »

Face of the Franchise - Ed Reed?

12 posts in this topic

Obviously Ray has been the story to end all stories this postseason and Joe played like he left his human limitations at home, but it seems like Ed has really become the face of our victorious team. And I love it! He does some...whacky stuff, for sure. But I really like seeing him so happy and its great the way he's enjoying himself and repping the Ravens.

Ed will never want to be the face of the franchise. He is our veteran leader, and he could become our emotional leader. But he won't be the guy that speaks for the team to the media and such. Typically that's not him

Flacco will become the face of the Ravens, Ray made it pretty clear that's what he wants. As long as he can take his form into next year, he's gonna see a lot more respect and attention. The problem with him has been his consistency, but ever since around the San Diego game he has been consistent and really good... ELITE good. Playing like that, he will be our very own Brady/Manning.
As for Ed, I really hope we keep him but I hope he doesn't try to fill in for Ray and stays as the same old Ed.

It's hard to be the face of the Franchise if you arent under contract. I hope Ed comes back, but even then I think the Franchise is all about Flacco now.

Seconded. I had to look twice at that one. And, he's absolutely right. Even if Ed comes back, he may be the veteran leader of this team, but there's no denying that Joe Flacco is now the face of the franchise. That's the way it should be, and that's the way the Ravens, as a whole, want it to be.

I compare this with the Cowboys in the 90's

Aikman(the face of the Cowboys) = Joe
Irvin(the emotional leader) = T-Sizzle
E.Smith(i just chose him cause for 90% Cowboys fans, he is the greatest Cowboys player ever, like for me Reeeeeed) = Ed
