yup I think we all know that Birk can't handle either of those guys by himself.
he's not great in space really, but right up front he is freakishly physical. Only going to get better.

Imagine an interior line with KO, Yanda & Gradkowski. If KO & Yanda can win one-on-one against guys like Wilfork, Smith, etc. Imagine what will happen if they get a young-blood center? I like Birk a lot. He's super smart. He held up very well this year. He could retire. I think he probably should--go out on top. If not, I won't be upset. He's still a beast.

But man...if Gradkowski, Yanda & KO all improve and play better than this interior OL, I don't think any 3-4 front will work against us.

Birk was healthy and had his best season in years, I don't think I saw him getting abused at all.

K.O. was a steal and it worked out more then perfect for us by losing Grubbs. K.O. is best at G but he could also fill in at T if needed....Grubbs couldn't.

Give Ozzie praise for drafting such good players the last 2 years despite picking no better then at #27....We couldn't of done it this year if we missed out on these talents...

2012-
Upshaw- #35 overall(2nd)
K.O.- #60 overall(2nd)
Pierce- # 84 overall(3rd)
Tucker- undrafted. (Already one of the best Kickers in the NFL).

2011-
J. Smith- #27 overall(1st)
T. Smith- #58 overall(2nd)
McPhee- #165 overall(5th)
Allen- #225 overall (7th) - key special teamer this year..
You forgot Chykie Brown. He and McPhee were taken back to back. He was huge for us after Webb went down.

He wasn't getting abused, but he didn't create any movement in the run game.

The thing I like about Osemele is he's a jacked 335 pounds. He's not like some interior lineman you see who are sloppy and wear down as the game goes on. Osemele is a physical marvel for being 335 pounds. And he uses his body, he's not afraid to get down and muck it up in the trenches. Between Yanda and Osemele we have some tough, heavy handed OGs.

It would be awesome if Ozzie finds a good LT in the draft if McKinnie isn't re-signed. the o-line would be perfect if that happens.

KO had some trouble there too, he's probably still used to playing a bit higher on the outside.

I think KO is an upgrade over Grubbs. What a steal at the end of the 2nd round...and I was bummed because we didnt take Rueben Randle smh.
Funny randle was the guy I wanted as well. I still think he will be a good player. Could still end up the best WR in that draft.

As far as ohr. I think he is a good rt and excels most at run blocking. However he is really valuable because he can move to left if there is an injury. That shouldn't be overlooked.

I had the same feeling dhstandard has in regards to Grubbs. I never got the feeling Grubbs wanted to stay here for a little less, he jumped ship as fast as he could for the highest bidder. I think he would have gone to the Chiefs if they had offered him a similar contract to the Saints. Ozzie and Harbs both echoed that they put together a substantial package for Grubbs and Grubbs and his agent just bolted.
You can't expect a player to turn down a top dollar offer(mind you to another good team). It is part of the business. Do you take it personally when or front office cuts guys like, mason,heap,etc...?

I don't take it personally because at the end of the day I'm a fan. We were talking earlier about how Grubbs jumped to New Orleans. I was just echoing my sentiment that I didn't think he actually wanted to stay in Baltimore. Especially after both Harbaugh and Ozzie stated that Baltimore had put together a substantial offer to get Grubbs to stay. In that light I never truly thought Grubbs wanted to stay in Baltimore very badly; at least badly enough to take a couple mil less.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the grass sometimes isn't always greener. Grubbs goes to a team that did not need any offensive help at all (even losing Nicks, NO could have drafted a replacement, they didn't need to spend a boatload on a replacement) and winds up on a team with the worst defense in history and miss the playoffs.

I'm glad we didn't keep Grubbs. I can't imagine the cap Hell we would be in next year if we did.

I agree about Randle. I think he will be a very good player, but I'm really glad we took KO instead for obvious reasons. I wish we could have had both!

Agree on Oher, he struggles in pass-pro but is at least servicable and his versatility is a plus.

What's great about KO is that he can also be an emergency back-up Tackle if need be. Obviously, he's had some struggles in the past, but the more game experience he gets, the better overall he will be.

Yea, in Ozzie we trust in drafting. A lot of us were scratching our head with some of Ozzie's draft choices and look how it has paid out.

I'm okay with Oher at RT, we just need to find an LT. Maybe we could use our comp picks to trade up into the first? LT is clearly our biggest need on the roster.

Can't trade compensatory picks

I liked seeing him at LG. Oher plays RT much better than LT so I'm cool with that apart me has always wanted to see Oher at Guard since he has speed to trap and pull and he's a great run blocker.

I'm wondering what will we do with Jah Reid and Harewood now cuz both of them had ups and downs at LG. Harewood was strong in run game and pathetic in pass protection. Jah Reid was solid to me.

Losing Grubbs was a blessing in disguise. Imagine how much harder this offseason would be with that big contract on the books.
Yes, yes. I agree. We'd be hard-pressed to keep players if we extended Grubbs.

Yeah, he can swing. He'd be a better LT if he had played his whole career there, but it's probably not going to happen.

Grubbs wasn't even that good. I felt like he actually regressed from where he was early in his career. And he absolutely did not deserve that Pro Bowl he went to. The guy actually got pushed around much more often than most realize.

True, but you can trade your own picks a lot more easily if you know you have a fiPlease be quiet.l of comp picks as well.

I think if we miss the playoffs next year we should make a move for an LT.

Because the ONLY thing we're missing from an elite offense is a good LT.

Not just Grubbs, 31yo Evan Mathis and his gimpy ankle. KO has answered our prayers.

I think a dominant interior OL can actually compensate for a weak exterior line (I.E. tackles) I think McKinnie at LT wasn't as big of a move as KO at LG. I think that's what changed everything. We might be able to get by with weaker tackles, much like the Saints, if our interior is one of the best.
