America's Game Segment

56 posts in this topic

I'm sure you all know about the 'Americas Game' DVD about the Super Bowl Champion team. This question has been rattling around in my brain for years, and finally the Ravens have won the big game, so my question to you all is-

Who would you want the 3 speakers to be for the 'Story of the 2012 Baltimore Ravens'?

I would prefer John Harbaugh, Ray Lewis and Joe Flacco, but I could also reason Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed and maybe even Anquan Boldin/

Its not always just 3 people. I would want hear Harbaugh, Flacco and Reed if I could only pick 3. Maybe swap out Harbaugh for Suggs. Lewis has had his turn, no offense. My choice would be Flacco, Harbaugh, Reed, Suggs and Boldin. Also wouldn't mind hearing from Ngata. Too many people to choose from.

Oh, I was under the impression it was just 3 but I'm probably wrong. I'd prefer ALL OF THEM if I could choose that. I also agree that Lewis had his turn, but this team was so based on his retirement that it would feel wrong if he didn't speak at least a little bit.

Thata partially why I'd want to hear people other than Lewis to see what the have to say about it.

Harbs,Joe,Ray,Ed,Suggs,Ozzie,Ngata,Boldin,Rice,Smith,Tucker.

That's the order I'd prefer..Whether that's 3 speakers or 5.

I feel like you have to have Harbaugh & Lewis. It's Lewis' last ride for God's sake. Then it would be Reed & Flacco, because Flacco is the freaking MVP & Reed is the greatest safety of all time. After that, Suggs. I don't think the rest would be as entertaining to be honest. Maybe Justin Tucker, lol.

Yep. As much as I'd love to include some of the other guys, if there's only room for 3 then it has to be them.

The Ray Lewis retirement story is too big to overlook. It has to include Ray Lewis. I'd want to see as many players as possible included, but picking two more (after Ray) between Harbaugh, Flacco, Boldin, Jacoby, Torrey, Reed, and Suggs would be a hard decision. Suggs always makes for an interesting interview, of course. Reed is an obvious choice after finally getting there, and in his home town. Jacoby was probably the "X-factor" all season long, and could certainly be included. Boldin's play in the postseason and what Torrey overcame in the beginning of the year make for two good candidates. If I had to choose, two, though, I think the most obvious are Harbaugh and Flacco.

I've watched most of the modern ones, America's Game is a great program. NFL Films usually does good work though.

I'd want to see Flacco , Ed reed , Suggs.

I would want to hear Flacco's candid comments regarding the struggles behind the scenes between he and Cam Cameron. I feel like if Harbaugh was also involved he would sugar coat the impact of Cams stubbornness on this team and Flacco.

It be nice to hear Suggs talk about fighting through the Achilles injury and his emotions when he saw Ray & Webb go down and his decision to comeback. He could also talk about the biceps injury later. And I think Suggs would be really animated in his responses to wanting to win one for Ray , Ed and every one.

And lastly I love to hear Ed Reed speak about finally getting what a player of his caliber deserves to cement his legacy, the countless injuries he has played through, the critism he faced for tackling with a bum shoulder, feelings of being on defense that struggled statistically.

For me I don't want to have Ray speak this time because he missed so many games, and I'm sure he will still have his fair share of camera time regardless. I mean he always has his hands in motivating everyone so Ray would get his just due without being a speaker.

Yes.^^^^^^. Im not sure how much of Ed Reed you guys have heard, but he says "man" after every sentence. Not sure he is the best person to have illustrate a picture with words.

Don't forget the narrator for the show. Could it be anyone besides Baltimore's own Josh Charles?

As for the team reps, you're definitely going to get Harbaugh and Flacco. The third guy will be the wildcard. The team and the league will be moving on from Lewis by the time it airs. He got his time in the first one, and he had the "A Football Life" episode. There are several other good choices such as Rice, T-Sizz, Reed, and Boldin, but my wildcard for the third spot, is Jacoby Jones. New Orleans native who resurrected his career to become all-pro as a return man and then makes three of the biggest plays in the post season? I think he's a top candidate for third chair.

Harbaugh, Flacco and Suggs are my picks. The coach is always 1 of the picks (unless the team has won multiple championships with relatively the same roster ie the Pats for those 3 in 4 years), Flacco as the MVP you can do the whole "I am elite" thing and the media constantly dogging on him, and Suggs is my pick for defense. Him coming back from the achilles early was integral to the defense getting better and Suggs (though not the most articulate person in the world) has an oddly profound way with words when it comes to talking about football.

I'd normally agree, but honestly, the season was about Ray Lewis as soon as he announced his retirement. He has to be included pretty much for that reason alone.

Yeah like others are saying, any other situation I would say give someone else the spot. But, due to the nature and emotions of this playoff run it just feels like it has to be Ray. Regardless I'm sure it'll be amazing!!

John Harbaugh, Ray Lewis and Joe Flacco, a perfect combo of the Head boss overseeing the operation, the Defensive retiring HOF Legend in his final game ever, and the Passing/offensive leader

Its 4 spots/slots.

Just watched 2011 Giants America's Game to check... So if recent history has anything to say - there should be four slots avaliable.

Its going to be - Obviously if I may say - Harbs, Flacco, Lewis. Thats a no brainer.

Fourth slot ... I'd say Jacoby. In the Giants case it was Victor Cruz who was the 'playmaker' of that season. So maybe Anquan? Maybe Jacoby? Maybe even Torrey?

Theres alot of choices for the fourth slot. I personally would wanna hear Reed, considering this may be his last year with us. But then, i'd wanna hear Jacoby because he is flat out HILLARIOUS.

Anquan is a BEAST so he has potential to make the fourth slot based on his playmaking abilitys throughout the season....

THEN theres Ray Rice with the 4th and 29 play which could bring him to the fourth slot.

Problem is: There were SO MANY ISSUES our team went thru this year that they cannot simply choose the fourth. I think its anyones guess as to whom it may be.

All we do know is this: It's going to be Harbs, Flacco & Lewis. And then most likely an offensive playmaker.

I can't wait for this DVD. First thing I said after the confetti fell was, "Looks like we're gonna get an America's Game!". I LOVE NFL Films editing/storylines with this series. Can't wait till september to get this DVD.
