I still feel like I am going to wake up any moment, that this has been a dream all along.
Now don't get me twisted, I have always kept the FAITH in the Ravens. Never for a second would I ever believe that any team ever can beat our guys playing their A game.
But we've been on the other side too, moments away from being in the Super Bowl with the season on the line, and the adversity is just too much. We play a record number of games in a row in Flacco's rookie season for an improbable AFCCG appearance. Again the next season wasn't supposed to be anything special, and we still do some damage in the play-offs to survive Harbaugh/Flacco/Rice's sophmore slump.
You know, you've been there before too. We can wax poetic on and on about triumph in the face of the adversity, about resiliency, loyalty, and true grit. That only makes it all the sweeter to finally ascend to the top of the mountain.
It's improbable, and wouldn't be truly believeable if it didn't really just happen.
Flacco is our Super Bowl MVP, with Jacoby Jones as a co-mvp.
The offensive linemen were the unsung heroes of the day, fighting together in the trenches the whole game against possibly the best defensive line they have ever played, and our running backs kept grinding out the toughest of yards. Leach was huge in this game blowing up line backers, and catching the ball well as a key safety outlet.
We got to see Ray's last stand on Ray's last ride, and finally get rings for Reed, Suggs, and Ngata the other anchors on our defense.
Who can forget Boldin either, finally getting a ring. Beasting through the whole play-offs, and really giving us a physical presence on offense to finally match up with our defense. Pitta, Dickson, and Smith came up with critical receptions, and the credit goes on and on.
Couldn't be happier, and couldn't be more elated.
What was your biggest surprise of the game? Can you believe we finally did it?
Dare I say let's do it again and repeat next year?
