That's what I said.

According to Profootballfocus, both of our safeties graded out negatively last season in their statistics. Maybe our safeties weren't as good as fans thought (well, in regards to Pollard because everyone knew Reed fell off).

We all expected more pollard, more of a commitment to a winning team. More commitment to players that have earned a spot and more honesty instead of the behind the back ways we have seen so far this free agency.

I feel for you and Boldin. Everyone says the Ravens are a class act but this off season they have showed zero class, have been disrespectful and it is just getting started. Watch out Suggs and Ngata you may be next. Used to be if you played well you got rewarded by keeping your spot but here in Ravens nation we punish you for wanting to get paid for your efforts that have had impacts in almost all 16 games.

Harbaugh, Ozzie and company should all be ashamed by the way they have treated some of the best players in the NFL.

Pollard a top 10 SS ..thats being nice (now with injury concerns and poor in coverage). Hey, if these guys were worth their contracts this coming year to us they'd be here...

What are these so-called "numbers" and "stats" that you speak of? The FO makes moves to piss off fans, not because they make informed decisions based on facts, numbers and stats.

Reed graded out as a -2.4 in Profootball Focus' grading scale. He was positive in coverage ability with a 4.5 coverage grade but it ranked only 17th among all safeties. That doesn't even count the 21 missed tackles that he had between the postseason and the regular season and below average run defense.

Pollard was the 7th highest in run defense among safeties according Profootballfocus but his coverage is still and always has been suspect. According to the bottom source, Pollard didn't give up a TD, but 75% of passes thrown his way were completed.

yeah. and Q has saved our butts more than we can count. and ellerbe got that interception in NE. and kruger forced that fumble in the wild card round. and cary intercepted weeden in week 4. if you define a player by his great plays, everyone gets put in the HOF. pollard's hits will be hugely missed, but the fact of the matter is is that his ribs are a liability and he is awful in coverage. if the rumors are true and he's a bad teammate, that's even worse. tbh, his poor coverage skills and his apparent bad attitude probably wouldn't be worth the occasional turnover.

The rumors aren't true. Pollard is a stand up guy and don't let the classless writers at the Baltimore Sun poison your mind with that crap. Bad attitude? You can't have all saints with no sinners on a team. He was our leading tackler. But I agree, Pollard was bad in coverage where Ed was best at, and Pollard was best at what Reed was worst at. If they were one player they would either be the best safety for us...or the worst lol

Lol aw you met him how nice. I'll ask you again are you in that lockerroom? You can feel what you feel that's fine but that doesn't make it a fact. He could have been released for multiple reasons but we fans won't really know the absolute facts behind it.

Point is, this is being discussed because of Mike Preston. This guy is a babbling fool who has zero evidence, no source whatsoever is named. But people believe that because he is a "reporter". I don't buy into it because it's his opinion, I've seen how Pollard and Harbs are on the sideline. This has to do with getting younger and seeing what our young guys can do.

It's actually been reported by multiple people. If you want to believe it started with one person (Mike Silver for name dropping him in the mutiny article during the season or Florio since his was the first article to tie that with the cut) and other media members ran with it that's fine. I'm not leaning either way. I agree media members can spin things but at the same time I'm not going to flat out debunk it because I know I wasn't there. I'm sure his performance was at least apart of the decision regardless.

After the Superbowl Flacco said that this locker room is the best he has ever seen. Harbs and Pollard were exchanging enormous smiles after crushing NE and I saw Harbs mouth "You knocked him out." I'm hesitant to believe it was a locker room issue decision. Pollard served his purpose. He is a liability in coverage but makes up for it with true intimidation. After sticking Welker, and drawing a penalty, several plays later Welker dropped an easy pass that would have ensure NE a crucial first down.
Ozzie has Pollard's replacement. Christian Thompson. Hard hitter with very good coverage ability, a bit raw, that needs to be developed. Probably far less unnecessary roughness penalties.
Ravens have been looking to reduce penalties since Harbaugh took over. I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie doesn't have a formula telling him the chances of success concerning penalties amoung other statistics.
Ozzie has been compared to Billy Beane of the Oakland A's. I would much rather compare him to Orioles' former GM Hank Peters.

Ok, but you were never on the field with him either. There are reasons that Pollard is not on the team anymore while still costing us 2.5 million against the cap. You know no more about him than the people saying that the rumors are true. There is a very good chance that his sportsmanship on the field and how he got along with players and coaches is a big part of the reason he is no longer on the field.
