Fake field goal

I personally loved it, despite not picking it up. It was one of a handful of plays that showed the Ravens were playing to win, not to "not lose." (Another example being Joe audibling to a pass on 3rd and inches)
GO RAVENS!

Joe Flacco, Super Bowl 47 MVP
Farewell to a legend. Thanks for the memories, Ray Ray!
If you woke up this morning, congratulations. You got another chance

What did you think about the decision to run a fake FG?

Exactly. It was a pretty big risk needing 9 yards, but yes, aggressive play calling like that tells the team that the coaching staff believes in them!
The world is full of Kings and Queens who blind your eyes then steal your dreams, it's Heaven and Hell.

At the time I wanted sure points. But looking back it was a good call. Showed we were willing to do what it takes to win a SB.

It's good to take chances early on in the game. BAL's D kept SF from taking advantage of the opportunity.
We went for a fake fg, then on the turnover of downs, Jim calls a run on 3rd and long (7 yards). That right there says a lot about who was coaching to win.

The Bold(in) write the history books, not the meek.

Everyone forgot about that fake FG when we were up 28-6, but we were all thinking about how nice those 3 points would've been late in the 4th lol.
That and the 2nd-opportunity FG that Akers got...

Of course looking at it in retrospect, I'm not the least bit surprised Harbs tried it.

Harbs knows by heart that Jim's team will come back no matter what so why not gamble and force Jim to crawl back up from a much deeper hole? 3pt don't cut it.....I wouldn't regret we called that even if we lose the game....At the time I wouldn't have done it. People view being conservative as taking your foot off the gas, but the way I see it, putting any sort of points on the board is good, especially when you're ahead. We ran the risk of allowing a dangerous team like the 49ers to find a way back into the game.

Exactly!
Per NFL.com, that was the first fake FG in Super Bowl history.

Also, did you notice that they didn't pressure a single kick after that. Doing that early in the game might have been a strategy to take a little bit of pressure off of Tucker and the holder, as well as being a smart gamble in itself.

If tuck ran that in they would have been demoralized. There was actually a couple fourth downs just outside fg range I even wanted them to go for it instead of.putting.

At that down and distance it was a bad call. Your kicker is not going to get you 9 odd yards. It worked out well in the end, but it was a bad call at the time.
You're right.. it SHOULD have been a TD..
