"This is a Super Bowl that will be talked about for decades"

32 posts in this topic

Did you see that Chris Berman is picking the Ravens 27, and 49ers 26

He says that this game will be talked about for decades!

And his record is at 8-1 or something?

Do you think this could be THAT epic of a game?

Yes. I also think this could be the start of a dynasty for either team. I also think they will meet again in another SB. Its gonna be a PHYSICAL game.

Berman had picked us last year to win it all.

The reason why I know it will be a good, tough game is because its the Ravens. Even if we are out matched we still make it a game, we always do.

Rarely does a team pull away from us, or we pull away from a team. Usually it's a game come the last drive.

This will be the first out of many Harbowls.

Both teams, outside of the occasional veteran, are realativley young. Both have damn good QBs, and know how to play defense.

If you ask me, the next 10 years Flacco vs Kap will become Manning vs Brady.

Joe wins this SB, he gets into HOF consideration. Most wins ever in first five years is a HUGE accomplishment.

This is going to be one heck of a game.

Bird vs Magic
Kobe vs Lebron
Montana vs Marino
Brady vs Manning
Brady vs Eli.
Flacco vs Ryan (draft class)

and soon to be Flacco vs Kap

EDIT. Ok, that QB thing might be a little extreme lol, but I do think Flacco vs Kap will eventually become a household thing ;)

No game will ever be as epic as that game in Denver.
But if our last meeting was any indication, this will be a tight game decided by one or two key plays

Disagree...wouldnt be surprised if they moved on from Kaepernick down the line. This pistol offense nonsense is going to get old, the Qbs who run it will get too much wear and tear if I am the Redskins GM I am thinking of turning RG3 into a pocket passer next year, and defensive coordinators will find a way to deal with them. It will be the traditional pocket passing guys like Manning, Rodgers, Brady, Flacco, who reign supreme.

I disagree...I would be very surprised if Kaepernick doesn't last 3 years. The pistol offense is really just a formation for the 9ers, and to characterize their whole offense as a Pistol offense is a pretty bad misnomer. The modern NFL is filled w/ mobile passers, and has been since the days of Fran Tarkenton. Heck even our Joe Flacco isn't a statue in the pocket, and "traditional" pocket passers all have their own style.

Furthermore, its a myth that mobile passers are more injury prone. I do believe they are more likely to be injured, but they aren't more injury prone per se.

Look we love our categories and we all want things to fit into neat and tidy packages. I remember Rex Ryan used to laugh when people said we run a 3-4 defense. If we were in 3-4 formation the whole game we'd be killed week in and week out.

Lastly, and mostly to stay on topic this will be an epic Super Bowl for the ages. Usually the AFC/NFCCG are the best games of the year based on match-up and desperation to win. But at least on paper this is like Ali vs Frasier in the making. Get your popcorn ready!!

People called Steve young a running QB and then he became one of th best passing QBs of all time. Kaep put up pretty solid passing numbers and we barely used the pistol formation during the year. If you watch Kaep through out the season, he barely ran except in the Packers game. He also showed some very good accuracy and decision making. Obviously it is too soon to crown him as a top QB, but it is also naive to write him off as a running QB who most likely won't make it in the league.

Edit: I can't have new posts unless a mod confirms it. But below you said I bashed Flacco. I have never done so. Can you quote when I supposedly bashed him.

Flacco vs Ryan is really just amongst the fans. The two teams rarely play so no real rivalry exists. As far as Flacco vs Kap, maybe you are allowing yourself to be influenced by those 9er trolls out your way a little too much. He has only started the 9 games. Nothing says he doesn't go the way of Cam Newton next year and then eventually fall off the radar. Personally I do not think that this "running QB" thing is going to make the cut. After a few get creamed once too often, teams will start to wise up about risking their most valuable asset running down the field. Besides we will not play them any more often than we play the Falcons. Can't build much of a rivalry playing a team once every four years, unless we both wind up in the SB multiple times in a row.

There is a difference between a "running" QB and a "mobile" QB. A QB that gets say 25% or more of his yardage in rushing is a running QB and will put himself at greater risk of injury, since he is more likely to take those big hits. That is just percentages. Any QB will have rushing as a possible weapon in his arsenal, he is just not doing it often. Too valuable an asset to risk getting taken out of the game, for even a series. That is not to say that a running QB cannot make the switch to just being mobile.

As far as Kaep lasting for three years, who knows. Not enough data to really make that call. He may end up being one of the greats, he may end up in the dust heap of history. Just nine starts is not enough to be able to objectively predict that.

Contractually the 9ers are attached to Kaep especially since Smith will likely be released or traded in the off-season. Secondly, the kid is smart if not a little ego-centric. Lastly, he does have a good arm, just not polished like Flacco or any of the great "pocket" passers.

I don't disagree, but I honestly like Kaepernick.....yet in the heat of the moment of the game tonight who knows? I may be cussing him out like crazy :D

Someone liking the guy does not make him a good QB. Nor does being smart, or cocky or having a good arm. It takes a lot of elements, including a good coach (which he has), that polish you spoke of, and the right team around him. Lots of people liked Newton and Freeman, but neither of them is doing much right now, although their first season they looked like "something special". Does "something special" sound familiar in conjunction with Kaep?

Just because the 9ers have hitched their wagon to Kaep also does not mean he is going to pan out. They could find themselves in the Rams or Cards position next year. It happens all the time. I am not saying he is a bust or ever will be, I am saying that there is too little data to make an informed opinion as to whether he will be good, great or horrible.

There are lots of QBs on various teams that someone liked, and some team felt certain would become their franchise guy. Yet there are only a handful of decent QBs out there, and a lot of teams that wish they had one of those decent QBs.

Agreed, time is the only factor that separates upside/potential from pro-bowlers, hall of famers, and greatest of all timers. Even Joe is really on the cusp of breaking out from good to great and he has been flashing upside, and potential for years. It would take the same kind of production through the same kind of adversity for Kaep to be considered remotely as even a franchise guy.
