I don't view the 49ers anywhere near as physically imposing as the media makes them out to be. Their front 7 is their strength, but I think the Ravens will spread them out and attack them that way. ATL abused them from the 3 and 4 WR sets. The Falcons got everything they wanted against that 49ers defense, but in classic ATL fashion they found a way to loss in the second half of the playoff game.

The Ravens have been great all season at not giving the ball away. I keep hearing the media gush about Willis and Bowman, and rightfully so because those guys are great. However they have flaws just like anyone else. Pitta and Rice are mismatches against both guys in the pass game. Sombody said that Willis did a great job on Tony G last game, the guy was targeted 8 times and had 8recs 78yds 1TD, how is that a great job? Especially when your defense gave up 400yds passing overall. I'm not saying Pitta is on Tony G's level, but we all know Pitta gets the job done.

The next area the Ravens will take advantage of is Boldin in the middle. Rodgers isn't gonna be able to match up well with Boldin. Q is playing like a man possessed and he definitely won't wasted an opportunity to win a ring in his second try. If they can't control the middle of the field, Flacco will surely make them pay. This now puts great pressure on their safeties who aren't strong cover men. It's much easier said then done to "keep your safeties deep" because it's tough to see the middle of ur D torched.

Finally the biggest advantage the Ravens have that noone is talking about is....the no huddle/uptempo offense. I heard a report that the 49ers have 9 players that play 80-90% of their defensive snaps, Justin Smith would have made it 10 guys if not for his injury. Which means, these guys don't substitute much, that's a lot like the Ravens up until last year. When the Ravens didn't use a great rotation defensively teams like the Cards and Bills gashed them with the uptempo offense.

The uptempo/no huddle offense will wear that 49ers defense down and by late 3rd quarter it will be Leach, Peirce and Rice who will pound that front 7 to close out the game.

Very interesting analysis! I see the deciding factors being the running and kicking game of the Ravens. We can score points but this game wiill probably end up something like 28 to 24 Ravens.

Mason, Heap. Two of the missing that I would have liked to see experience this run.

However, good chance we aren't here if we don't make those changes too.

One more day!!!!

Can't wait for this game.

Yea, i agree especially with the kicking game. Oddly enough i think you have to give the kicking edge to the rookie, JT has been clutch all year, while the 49ers resorted to signing the guy that Tucker beat out. I found it funny that reports came out that Akers made all his practice kicks this week. I don't know if it's Jim or the media, but it seems like someone is trying really hard to pump Akers up.

i came first with the idea so i get 33%... 1/28/01 has got the original so he gets 33%... purple nurple gets 33% to keep quiet... and 1% for dizzle to help with with the 35/47 combo from now on... bidding starts at 10K

Lips sealed, lol.

I love how ESPN is saying that the pistol is unstoppable. They gonna be upset at the end of it all :P
I love the Ravens approach to the Pistol all week. Anytime some is asked, the players say do your job and communicate. That is the way to stop any option.

The Falcons actually did a good job, but just didn't make the proper adjustments and didn't have the overall talent. The Ravens are great in both areas.

The Ravens will do a strong job against their run game and for Kaep to be more of a traditional QB. Despite having good numbers, he doesn't read defenses well. Play action helps him tremendously. The Ravens will have a field day with him after shutting down the run.

Does anyone remember the Dolphins playoff game. That wildcat offense was so unstoppable and Chad made such great decisions with the ball, that they never turned the ball over. Well leave it to the Ravens to soil everyone's fun. That offense didn't stand a chance and even though i feel the 49ers are way more talented then those guys, i see the same result in this game.

I just got done looking through the 49ers message board. It just made me uber-nervous. I really hope we win this thing. Our team is going to have a face lift next year with Cap issues. We really need to pocket this one. 49ers will get theirs. All the years of sucking and drafting high picks is paying off.

I don't know. I think its like an enjoyment to self inflicted pain or something.

I was reading a thread where they were bashing any analyst that picked the Ravens. Because the reasons they were giving weren't tangible (Team of Destiny, Leadership, etc). They were claiming they were the underdogs now. They posted the ESPN pick list and 80% picked the 49ers, how the hell is that being the underdog? They want everybody to admit that they are the better team.

Why do I care about any of this? I don't know. My nerves have kicked in and causing my brain to do funny things.

Unrelated but remember Ed's pick six in that game? Probably my favorite play ever by Ed besides the 108 yarder

PuRocks got me nervous now.

Cmon man, stay strong, you're our rock! lol
We can analyze this game to death. Who has more experience, better talent, more luck, etc. But there is only one long football game left. Who the hell knows whats going to happen. Which way the ball will get tipped, who fumbles and where, who gets injured, who makes a spectacular play, or who's the x-factor. We don't know right now!

So much can happen in this game. We've seen teams lose the Super Bowl by a matter of inches. We've seen teams that weren't supposed to win....win.

Can't believe we are back at the Super Bowl. Hopefully we make it count. Who knows when we'll be back.

for once, im actually just plain excited for this game! I mean its so hard to get to the SB and such an accomplishment. Im going to have so much fun preparing for the game. I'm positive come kickoff time ill be a nervous wreck. But until then, its all celebration for me lol i guess im still just enjoying this moment of making it to the SB, savoring it. I havent thought about the actual game and how we'll do or even the outcome.

Yes, Ngata's block was vicious. It's the SB, if Ed gets his hands on the ball he's thinking 6 and he's not pitching it.
