Disrespect Everywhere(Media and Fans)

I've realized that many people are picking us to win, but for the wrong reasons. They are giving kudos for us making us this far, but still do not understand the reasons why. I am not a firm believer in the whole we beat the pats and broncos solely because of ray lewis. I acknowledge there might have been an affect, but arguably, ellerbee's return was more important in terms of physical performance.

I have read articles where it was unexplainable how we won.

This was in a pff article(it was supposed to make a case for the niners, but it did so egregiously that it made me sick)

In truth, the Broncos needed a fairly spectacular collapse to fail to beat Baltimore, and the Patriots had multiple opportunities to extend their lead and put the game to bed. The failings of both sides let the Ravens get back into the game and come away with the victory each time. The 49ers aren’t likely to make the same mistakes their predecessors did. Consequently, the Ravens are actually going to have to find a way to win the game on merit this time around. That is something I’m not convinced they have the firepower to do. -Sam Monson

So,bottom line, people have just gone with the popularized view of the media that the team is ray lewis and ray lewis is why we are here. I call shananigans. I blame this all on the media for not doing a better job for doing the analysis to why we are where we are.

OC change: Cam Cameron was a crutch in flacco's development after year 3(2010).

defensive players getting healthier(we were not healthy for the entire season)

o-line change(better protection for those deep throws that fuels the air coryell offense)

budding team chemistry(young who never played before needed to get acclimated.

Joe Flacco: He should be deserving of all the glory, or most of it. He has been good the whole season, but has been brought down by other players or team miscues. His emergence this season is why we are here and why we will be here again in the near future. He is and will be the centerpiece of the team, but a player that has had 16 years(ray lewis is great as a leader but he is a physical liability at this point) as the face of the franchise is stealing his thunder, making joe flacco still look like a mediorce quarterback. I find the praise of his deep ball annoying because he is a gifted thrower of the football and leader(its just not as explict as tom brady or A-rodgers)

In total, the media has labeled us as a "miracle team", whose talent is inferior to that of denver, new england, and san fran. However,it was better than denver, new england, and I think, (we all hope) is better than san fran's. There is no luck in sports or in life, it is half execution and half talent.

What is your opinion of the media's blatant disrespect of the team's "merit", ray lewis, and joe flacco?

I just watched the Coaches Show. Good talk about the Ravens for the entire half hour.

Media interview days are done, TG.

Yeah, a miracle team could keep up with both the pats and broncos withought getting lucky. That sure sounds like a miracle team to me. I hate the media, don't they realize that 99.9% of the time they downplay us we play with a chip and win? If they hate us so much you would think they would learn that and start praising us instead, lol

Haters going to hate.

We've worked too hard and faced way too many hard teams in post season just to go down w/ nothing.

Media & fans can spew b.s. about us. All it matters is the ring and the lombardi.

Honestly, only one "analyist" has really gotten under my skin these past 2 weeks...

Heath Evans... Seriously. I dislike alot of people (Dukes,Skip,Hensley,Hodge) and I don't know any of them personally, but I hate Heath Evans. He's the worst in my eyes. The only positive Ravens thing I heard him say was Ray Lewis is one of the greatest ever (which is bloody obvious).

His arrogance when talking bad about us drives me nuts. He reminds me of a Patriots fan. Not a former player like he is, but just a cocky bias dbag patriots fan. (Bruschi lost the Boston in him quick, Evans not so much). He sounds so confident when he talks abouts us too, he's just a cocky, stupid, obnoxious bleep who I cannot stand.

Troy Aikman just had some nice things to say about Flacco. Said he was "proud of him", and glad he's finally getting some of the credit he deserves.

On PTI earlier this evening, though, Kornheiser went off about how it would be "better for the NFL" if the 49ers win this game, for a bunch of stupid reasons, like how if the 49ers win, it means they can count Kaepernick as the future of the league, and also because since Ed Reed and Ray Lewis won't be here next year (his words; obviously Ed Reed may not be here, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility for him to return to the Ravens) that the Ravens don't deserve to win, because without those guys we won't be a great team in the future and so we don't deserve to win with those guys right now; it would be better for the 49ers to win because they will still be good next year. I'm not even making this up, this was his argument. My jaw was agape in astonishment at the stupidity of that!

I swear some of you care more about what the media thinks about the team than liking the team itself.

Enjoy the success and be proud that we are one of two teams still playing in February.

Glad you said it. The "lack of respect" card was played out years ago. Nobody needs to respect us, or kiss our collective arse, but they will have to come p with new creative reasons why we didn't deerve to win another SB in a few days

Done nothing but hate on us all year long - called the firing of Cameron "desperate", repeatedly described our team as "dysfunctional" and said we wouldn't win another game after the 'Skins loss. His hate on Joe has been ridiculous. Now that Joe's on fire, he's done a complete 180 and changed his tune.
Nauseating...

Just annoying, like a pebble in the shoe. I do like reading about and hearing it though. Often it is comical the extremes they take to prove that the team is just not that good. I wonder what they will say on Monday morning when Joe has hefted that trophy and Ray has done a little victory dance? How will they spin our 2nd SB victory?

NFL Network and ESPN basically split in their "expert predictions." So I don't think there is that much "hate" against the Ravens.

Who cares. It's some idiot's opinion. Don't let what they say in front of a TV get to you. Let the Baltimore Ravens do the talking. The Ravens have been great at doing the talking.

I'm still glad we get to enjoy watching the Baltimore Ravens perform for the last week, regardless of what happens. It's awesome! Focus on the positives and shrug off the negatives. The BR.com site has done an excellent job at covering just about everything Superbowl related. If you're tired of the media hoopla, spend more time reading the articles here and watching the videos here.

While it is sad that they fail to acknowledge things like the fact that it took an equally epic collapse from Atlanta for the 49ers to get back into the title game, or that our physical manhandling of the Patriots receivers and backs is what rattled them to the point that they couldn't execute their plays, but that's why they play the games. We know what this team has been through. My biggest pet peeve is hearing people whining about Ray Lewis citing God so often as though he's saying God wants us to win. If you actually listen to it in the context of the way our entire team talks you'd realize that we have a very spiritual team that believes in a higher power (regardless of religion). Harbs has said it many times but people just want to hate on Ray Lewis.

I don't agree, though, that luck doesn't play a factor in success. You have to have the skill to realize the opportunities that luck may provide, but if you think the generous spot on the 4th and 29 at SD, the on-field call of a made field goal in the first Pats game, or the Flacco Fling at Denver didn't have any luck involved in them then I don't know what you think it was lol.

Very well said.
Sometimes the ball just bounces funny. :)

Nobody is suggesting that faith can replace hard work, skill and determination. Our players speak openly of the role faith plays in their motivation to continue working towards goals that to outsider may look impossible, in the face of odds that may look insurmountable, and to some, in the face of tremendous personal heartbreak - events that would paralyze lesser men.

I find that inspiring, and it's sad to see it mocked by the nattering nabobs of negativity.

I actually counted this, (very bored over last weekend) and for ever 8 news stories on the 49ers, there was 1 on the Ravens. Of those every 4 stories were negative.

This ESPN crew right now is killing me. You would thing the 49ers were playing alone. All give advantage to 49ers, and the only thing they have said we do ok is Kruger's pass rush, and they only talked about what Kaep will do to avoid it. I know we play better under these circumstances, but honestly, what do we have to do to be called a competitor?

The media seems to only look at the 4 losses in 5 games at the end of the season. Once the cite this they NEVER seem to take in the account the change in OC and the Offensive line changes. The ravens are the real deal. Im a niner fan and I am nervous as hell about this game. If the patriots were in the superbowl I would not be as worried. The ravens have the momentum at the right time that has claimed alot of recent superbowls. The ravens are legit and I dont buy into the "ravens defense is getting old" talk. The Ravens defense is no old they are EXPERIENCED. Good luck on sunday and go niners. The Ravens have always been my second favorite team to watch. (i loved the ravens ever since I watched a monday night football game in 2001 and they did a half time special on Ray lewis. His passion and love for the game is second to none in my opinion.)

Not only that but we are a small market team, with an incredibly loyal but small fan-base. That means when we are winning there are a lot of large fan bases that are POed that we are beating their team, and then there are the haters that are jealous that they do not have that big name guy like a Ray Lewis. It is just a bunch of stuff with opposing fans. The media has its darlings, and those tend to be the teams with very large fan bases, large demographics and thusly large buying audiences. They are fishing for dollars. The bigger the fan-base the more dollars. Or so they believe. Actually a small loyal fanbase will spend more than a large mediocre fanbase.

The 49ers send off pep rally had less than 100 people on a beautiful warm day. Ours had thousands on a miserable rainy day.

i was so calm for the last two weeks.

no it is getting really bad. I am as nervous as I haven´t been in my whole life.

Cannot wait this game to start - no matter what some "experts" will say about us!!

We will prove them wrong bad!!!

Don´t care about what Ed or others of the team are saying in public. Could be some fake that they aren´t focused. Trust me - those guys have seen every bit of tape that they could have watched in the last weeks.

We are ready for the battle.

This is the chance of their lives. You may never get back to that point again so I am very sure that they will bring their A game Sunday evening. Unfortunately the 9ers will do so, too.

What the media doesn't want to acknowledge or maybe they don't remember is that the Ravens had the 2nd toughest schedule in the NFL this season. The Cincy game was pretty much a bye game that didn't mean nothing. The first Denver game was Caldwell's first game with just four days notice and for prep time. Sure the media can say that other team's miscues is the reason we got so far, but again they are the ones not being honest. The playoff game in Denver, They want to say that the Jacoby Jones catch was only made because of blown coverage by Rahim Moore, They failed to mention that 12 points for Denver came off our special teams blown coverages. The fact of the matter is that winning the Lombardi is always 100% of the time more important then winning the critics respect..

We've been close to the super bowl 2/5 years, and the last 5 OF those years, we've made it to the playoffs.

I do agree that Evans is a terrible "analyst" but he actually did pick the Ravens to win the Super Bowl.

That only makes me hate him more. Same guy who predicted we wouldn't win another game after the Skins loss, and wouldn't make the playoffs.
