Ravens Retired Cheerleader Not Invited to Super Bowl

43 posts in this topic
Considering how the Alabama ND game went, the cheerleaders are occasionally the only attraction at games for some teams (Oakland, Jax, KC, Cleveland)
That's what marching bands and mascots are for.

Other than that, she does look like she'd exceed their weigh in, the reporter looks a good deal thinner than her.

That's why I hate cheerleading. It turns women into sexual objects, devoiding them of their individuality. I definitely wouldn't want a hypothetical daughter of mine prancing around in miniskirts while being ogled by hordes of men

Lol you realize that, in a lot of ways, the sport of football objectifies men, right? If we're painting with a broad brush and getting rid of people being paid to entertain us with their bodies let's get rid of sports altogether. Who needs 'em?

Forget this selfish woman. I would be upset if the Ravens succumbed to pressure from an online petition and media tour.

There is no seat for you at the Super Bowl, Courtney Lenz. The Ravens don't owe you any more than they owe a season ticket holder of many years, many of whom didn't get tickets in the lottery. There are only so many seats, and you quit at the end of the regular season. And in a final stroke of selfishness, you are speculating about the organization "banning you from the Superbowl" (how is it a ban?) because of your weight. You are stabbing the organization in the back with bad press.

Touche. Though, there's a difference between physical objectification and sexual objectification. Chauvinism is such a persistent part of society though, so I can't support cheerleading, "Lingerie Football" etc. Women demonstrate, entertain and inspire our daughters and sons with their physical abilities in venues such as the WNBA, the women's Olympic Soccer Team, etc.

Is there really a 2 page thread about a retired cheerleader not getting an invite to the SB!? Really! She should have pulled a Brett Favre!

This woman is pathetic. The media coverage of this story is even MORE pathetic. I keep seeing headlines like "Banned From The Super Bowl", which is misleading and sensationalist. The simple truth is that she was not selected to attend. She wasn't "Banned". It isn't like she was guaranteed a trip to the Super Bowl just for being on the cheer squad and now we're "banning" her attendance and failing to uphold our "promise". This is simple: About half of the cheerleaders can go, and the Ravens pick the best ones. She wasn't picked.

Read this article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/ravens-cheerleader-says-she-left-home-super-bowl-002248343--nfl.html

More importantly, watch the attached video. This girl is straight up LYING at this point, and the media is just telling her side of the story without doing any investigation at all. She claims she is being disciplined for gaining "1.6 pounds", and the article doesn't even investigate when these 1.6 pounds were gained. OK. Maybe she had her most recent weight in at 1.6 pounds heavier than the previous one (but who the hell knows because the media didn't do their due diligence and aren't reporting what this figure even means). The fact is, she didn't just gain 1.6 pounds. Look at the pictures and video of her from last season, compared to this season, compared to her appearance in the interviews right now. This girl gained at least 15 pounds, probably closer to 20 or 25. She has a double chin now. She has a flabby belly now. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but these are facts. This is not representative of a 1.6 pound gain from last year when she was in great physical shape. She gained a lot of weight, her performance suffered, she was told she had to make an improvement, and I'm assuming that the 1.6 pound gain came after THAT, and rather than improve she actually got even more behind, and that's why she wasn't selected for the Super Bowl.

So she has seniority on some of the other women... big deal. If she has been doing a poor job this year, the Ravens should rightly throw seniority out the window and select cheerleaders who are performing at their best! We want to reward hard work, dedication, and positive results, not "time served", quality of work be damned.

The way the media is backing her up and the way thousands of individuals are supporting her side of the story and not the Ravens' right to select more worthy women is pathetic.

I don't think her decision to retire has anything to do with her not being selected. She used that as her original story to try to gain people on her side. Then when people realized that story didn't add up, she changes her story to be one of discrimination over her weight, with the media not covering how much weight she actually gained and how her performance probably actually diminished, and that being the reason she wasn't selected over more deserving cheerleaders who worked harder and performed better.

Before long people will realize she is just whining because she didn't EARN the privilege to be selected to attend the Super Bowl, and she is blaming everyone but herself.

Cheerleading merely treats women as sex objects? Um, it's not like NFL teams go out with caveman clubs, whack attractive women upside their heads, drag them back to their staidums by their hair and force them to be cheerleaders. It's a little thing involved called "free will". and women actually who are cheerleaders are cheerleaders, because they :"want" to be cheerleaders. They like the attention and the perks that come with the job. The same goes for women who are models, swinsuit models, beatuty pagent competitors etc. Women have minds of their own, and they do what they do, because they feel it is in "their" best interests.

I was reading a comment on Yahoo about this story and in the GMA video clip, she says nothing about weight being the reason for her not going. It seems she is speculating about it and trying to use weight as a way to get people on her side and against the Ravens organization. There were 27 other cheerleaders that didn't get to go and she is the only one upset about it because she feels entitled.

And, by the way, if you quit your job, would you still get to go to company functions?
Let me get this right Miss Lenz informed management that she was retiring at the end of this year and did not Mr Lewis do the same thing, but for some reason Mr Lewis is going and Not Miss Lenz. I see it like this Mr Lewis has not been the best roll model in the past and has turned his life around and I commend him for that. Miss Lenz violated the rules by what wanting to retire at the end of the season ans gaining a wapping 1.8 lbs. Lets get real Miss Lenz has earned as has Mr Lewis to go to the Big Show one last time.

Actually I went to a cincitucky game about 10 years ago. I thought their cheerleaders were hot. I was upset that Sara Jones (slept with one of her student's) didn't jump my bones. That after seeing her in her official Ban-Gal photos. When I saw her mug shot?? WOW I was glad she didn't jump me
