I definitely think Ed had his own intentions at heart when making these comments...mainly his contract that will be coming up at seasons end...imo there's no difference then this comment or Ray saying he would play for the cowboys...both were selfishly made...but only one was right before the biggest game of the year

I totally agree that this has been a public relations nightmare...but not for the reasons you think! This has been a public relations nightmare due to the media, and the media alone.

The premise of the SI.com article was to show how much of a sham this Ross character and his "S.W.A.T." company is(second company btw due to the 5.4 million $ law suit he lost) and that none of his claims to his products have any scientific basis. Actually, Ray Lewis wasn't even mentioned in the story until the bottom of the second page, among many other names Ross drops in the article! Ross admits that he couldn't get celebrity atheletes to endorse his products that he peddles to them, so he tapes/videotapes their conversations for what he considers substanative proof since he can't get an outright endorsement,(none of which have appeared in public btw). It is clear Ross was looking for free advertising(hence the name dropping in the article) and even though the SI article proved him as a "snake oil" salesmen, they still published the article, giving him the soapbox he wanted. SI you are dispicable!!!

SI is just as guilty for giving this "carnival barker" a platform for free advertising in one of the biggest media events in the sports world without any substantial proof from him other than said word from the "carnival barker" himself! That isn't journalism, that's gossip from what I consider to be nothing more now than another yellow journalistic sports rag.

Next, the media outlets like ESPN, the NFL network and others ran with the story with little to no regard for a word that I am sure they have never come across...integrity!!! It is a travesity that we are subjected to this mess in order for channels, websites, sports radio, reporters, etc. to get a "hit" and make a name for themselves on the back of a man(Ross) that never should have been given the light of day.

Media, you got it wrong and I hope you take the "hit" you deserve!

Its sad how Superbowl week has turned into who can come up with the biggest story.....

Me personally....I was so excited to see 2 whole weeks of Ravens "Football" coverage...instead I stopped watching sports channels around tuesday this week...cause of all the negative press....checked back quickly yesterday to see if things had changed and It didn't...top stories on espn were Ed reeds pats comments And "Ray Lewis's Denial"

You and the rest of these folks are over reacting to the media BS. Unfortunately, they have to do the interviews.

Ed didn't "interview" for the NE job. He gave a harmless compliment to belacheat in return for the "love" he has shown Ed. Nothing more. And you don't hear a lot from the niners because they aren't being asked the same twisted questions. Although, the one guy did make the remarks about not allowing a gay in the sf locker room.

Ray Lewis "SI went off the word of a man with known credibility problems. He said he has an alleged video tape of me speaking to him about buying something. I say for him to release this video the press immediately, if he can't produce the video in question, then you know he's lying and this is all about publicity for his company. Until a video surfaces, I will not comment any further on a baseless allegation" End of Story. That is all Ray needed to say.

You may be right. However if the strategy by the sports media is to try and take down the Ravens, their best strategy would be to attack Ray Lewis who's the general of the team. I don't believe it will work though.
