Lawdy I hope the 49er defense which allows 94 yards a game can somehow contain your backup

I want to see Vernon Davis vs Pollard. Pollard let Hernandez put up 93 yards on 8 catches. Davis is better than Hernandez.
Pollard wasn't covering Hernandez the entire game.

No perhaps not on every play. But if hernandez can have a big day, I would be interested to see how Davis performs.

We'll see. Davis caught seven passes in seven games before breaking out against the Falcons. He should get several targets on Sunday but he'll also be needed as blocker on quite a few snaps.

I hope your D takes that same mentality into the game.

On O: Pitta vs Willis, and Torrey and JJ vs there DBs

On D: Reed vs Kap, and Suggs, Kruger, and Upshaw vs the pistol

Yea he's good at that too. Its an unusual aberation about his 2nd half statistics, and all that really makes sense about it is the qb change and a couple new packages they use dont utilize the tight end as much. Of course if you play the read option the way atlanta did, then the tight end is going to naturally be more involved.

I don't know why, but the one I've been thinking about off and on this week isn't so much a head-up matchup, but could be huge. Justin Tucker vs. David Ackers.

Tucker is kicking with extremem confidence and making huge kicks ... Ackers has only hit like 70% of his FG kicks this year, almost lost his job going into the playoffs and even had SF fans sending him death threats this year. How is he going to deal with this game if he gets called on?

You're a 9ers fan, so I'm going to give you the b.o.d on the superficial statistical analysis you've done of the Ravens but it's interesting that when Vernon Davis explodes in one game when he was a virtual non-factor for a long stretch during the season you call it an aberration. I agree with you that Davis is going to be a threat, as a Maryland grad I (along with a lot of people here) love the guy, but your assessment of the Ravens' rushing threat is waaay off. Cam Cameron was fired in part for his mismanagement of the run game and Caldwell has proven to be far superior in putting our players in a position to succeed. There will be looks in this game that aren't on tape and it will be interesting to see how the 9ers adapt.

True, that matchup will be very interesting. both teams dictate games on the ground and both are good at stopping it.. something has got to give!

I meant to say Davis' 2nd half of the season is an aberration. That's not typical of him to average 1 or 2 receptions;he's far too dangerous to be so limited. And I bet there will be a lot of good looks. That confuses teams, that's why I like the 49er offense. Against atlanta in the first 15 plays they had 10 different personnel groupings. i think there are going to be a lot of interesting looks.
