I'm fully married and have no intention of killing off my husband, but I would step into that last position if needed. ;)
I've always wanted to burn a couch - send it to meeee!

Though shipping will set you back quite a bit sending it here... :P

I'll send you a couch C.O.D.

I drink a glass (really a jelly jar) of wine during NFL Today because it's purple. After that, only cheap beer.

Check this out:

My family usually has the Superbowl at my Uncles house. Im not going because my couch is the spot! Also I always wear whatever jersey the team wears. I have worn(without washing) my white underarmour with my Nevermore t-shirt and an Ed Reed away jersey since the Denver game! Miracles happen so yeah. Also i can't move from the couch except during halftime to use the bathroom!

I guess you can call me a superstitious man, considering I haven't taken off my purple #52 jersey since the Colts game. I'm so disgusting but it's only weird if it doesn't work, right? haha

Other gameday rituals include making sure I visit the bathroom before the game so that I don't have to get up during, holding on to my lucky signed football and, of course, always growing a beard during the playoffs.

I heard about that. I know some people say superstitions are silly. But even Ray Lewis won't tempt the fate.

I might need to start up a new tradition in my household. This thing is epic!

We've done this before. But its the Super Bowl! My brother's wife wanted to throw a Super Bowl party and I said "No! You can't mess with the mojo! We have to do exactly what we've been doing."

So here are my questions:

1) Are you superstitious? And if so, what are your superstitions or traditions going into the Super Bowl?

2) To Super Bowl Party or to do more of the same? What are your plans for the big game?
I have been wearing my Purple Ray Lewis Jersey since the Colts game

That and of course i have my 2 knomes and my Joe Flacco bubble head that is in the middle wearing his purple beads that.
I hit the head of each one right before a def. or off. play.

Been doing the knomes for about 3 yrs now

Its only crazy if it doesn't work.

And its been working. :banana1:

I would have taken you for a black jersey guy. You've been wearing a purple jersey? *Jaw dropped*

My living room has turned into a cathedral of Raven's tackiness. I broke out all my of paraphernalia. The gnome, The popcorn bin, the towels, the cheap stuff I've gotten free from the stadium, the mini-helmets, etc. Even have the big autographed Ray Rice picture currently blocking the fire place.

I've been wearing the Black Ngata jersey every game in the playoffs . I won't wear anything else . Same black thermal is worn under said jersey. No.... neither has been washed.

Since I throw a party literally every weekend that Ravens football is played before 8 pm, I will be doing the same and doing a party. Although there will be more decor for this party and we will do a more interesting menu, ribs likely. As far as superstitions, nothing really. We all wear Ravens or purple gear and all sit in the same places. We have a bunch of ravens decor, lights and stuff, and turn it all on even during the day, but I do not consider that a superstition. We have started taking a shot of purple pucker snapps afetr every TD during the post season. I guess that could be a superstition.

We are hosting a Super Bowl party this year for some of the doctors and their families that work with my husband. This is literally the biggest thing we've done since we moved here, and I'm horribly nervous! We just thought this would be a fun event to host. We have a theater system in our basement, left behind by the previous owners. It's the perfect setting for a few people to come and join in the viewing of the game, and it's a nice distance away from our sons who will hopefully be sleeping soundly a couple floors above us when the game's over! :) I have no superstitions, but I do have to watch the commercials. It's often the most fun part of the whole evening; not this year though of course.
You will love it, trust me. I throw a party at my house every Sunday game, and we have a blast. Just get good food and drink and surround yourself with hardcore fans.

I'm not changing anything, wearing my purple # 52 Jersey like I have the past few years and retiring it after the Super Bowl and never wearing it again.

May end up making Joe Flacco or Torrey Smith my game day jersey next year with Ray retiring.
Thats me. I have been wearing the purple Ray jersey since the playoffs started and will also retire it, never to be worn again, after the SB. I plan on trying to get Ray to sign it, if I get the chance. I have a Ngata and Suggs to wear for next year.

That's besides the point. These are pictures of Christmas past (Aren't those Twinkies as well?). The game is still 9 days away, to soon to prep food.

Though I am heavily debating creating something like that.

I have purple Christmas lights strung around the room (the real purple, not that pinkish purple), pennants, signs, purple party decor, even a 6' animated halloween tree all in purple lights, strung with beads holding pompoms in its moving "hands". My family room is now a Ravens Cave, so I understand.

Superstitions:

I have always worn a jersey for Purple Friday before a game, along with the purple rubber Ravens bracelet I got as a giveaway at one of their games in 2009.

I avoid clothing that matches the other teams colors the Friday-Sunday of that week

Right before the playoffs I bought a Ravens logo earring to put in one of my ears. Despite some of the teasing I got from my friends, they won every single game when I wore it.

I vowed that if the Ravens made the Super Bowl that I would wear a jersey to work every day the week before for luck, so that's happening next week.

I avoid "fun" side bets with fans of the other team because I've always lost.

I never say "We're definitely going to kick [other team's] [profanity deleted]" or any similar statements because it's come back to haunt me one too many times. The closest I will come is saying that I think we have a very good shot at winning.

Your absolutely right, i would be wearing a Black jersey but i only had a Purple Ray lewis jersey and i wanted to show my respect for Rays last home game.

Well after we straight dominated that game i said to my buddy i would be wearing Rays Jersey all the way if we made it.

Oh and yea, i forgot, i have a RAVENS Stop light that have had lit since the play offs started. ( not lit the whole time but when the game starts it is.)

Talk about superstitions, i remember taking a shot of Jack before the COLTS game ( i rarely ever drink) but now i have been getting drunk on Game days because i don't want to mess with the football gods. lol

My girl got me a RAY LEWIS bubble head but i didn't want to pull it out until next season but ill bring out for the SB because when else is Lewis going to be playing so, its coming out for the SB. That and ill do it out of respect for Ray.

My superstition - I haven't watched a single game live since last season. Why - because the three I watched last season were Jacksonville, Tennessee, and the Texans playoff game.

This thread is funny. You guys are all crazy. Doing weird and occasionally disturbing things in a pattern is not going to change the outcome of the game, but if you want to think it does, go right ahead.

not superstitious in the slightest. that said, i got 82's jersey for Xmas and since I have we've been on a tear. haven't washed it since i got it, and will not be washing it until after we win the big game. so perhaps, a little superstitious when it comes to football ;)

And here I thought I was insane for missing small chunks of games while going for a walk.

Are you going to watch the Super Bowl? If not, what are you going to do?

I'm all for harmless superstitions but it seems like there're a lot people wearing grubby clothes in this town.
I was walking around the street with a cup of coffee, and somebody stuffed a one dollar bill into it. I don't know what that was all about.
