at the first mistake they will all jump on the bandwagon again. Feels great to be right about our teams qb though doesn't it.
Let's hope, that first mistake comes in the upcoming regular season, if you know what I'm saying. ;) It would be so sweet, if we could a) beat the 49ers and b)Joe could break 49ers legend Joe Montana's record (11 TDs with no INT thrown during a playoff run) in same time. :)

Exactly! Now everyone's a fan all of a sudden.
I said bring him in. Never said start him. At the same time I've said Flacco could be one of the greats. I never wanted Tyrod as the starting qb. Just put in when games weren't exaclty going as planned, ala Texans late in the game. My main problem was Cameron and that trickled down to Flacco just not taking control when he knew what was being called wasn't working.

With Cameron as OC. He's the eye popping postseason stats, and career wins.
We still haven't seen the production in the regular season, though. While playoffs are more important, yes, you sadly don't base his contract solely around his playoff performance (which hasn't peaked until this year, btw). Cam cameron or not.

In general, the NFL pay scale has increased over time.
Correct. You're not getting it ;)

Last year he played great in the playoffs imo. But there's no way he plays all of next season without a new contract. We're not going to evaluate him again

We certainly aren't going to evaluate him him again but the fact is, his overall production doesn't warrant 20 mil a year. If he literally carried us for a majority of the 5 season he's been here, then sure go ahead. He hasn't though. Not hating on him because i love Flacco but he doesn't deserve 20 mil a year right now.

Damn you Litna.
I am starting to hate this guy
Why? It's a business. Teams release players all day everyday, why shouldn't he maximize his leverage? Doesn't mean he will get 20 mil but the art of negotiation is to start high.

Linta is just positioning his client for a better contract. I'm not going to hate on him when his jostling with the FO played a big part in Cam getting fired. Joe will take the $17-18 million and call it good.

Agreed, but why would they include Tony Romos name with those other guys?

If Joe wins the Super Bowl for us , it adds 2-4 mill a year . If he loses it for us with a dumb pick or fumble he drops 2-4 mill a year .

I'll take the Super Bowl win even if it costs us next year .

Think we take a late round QB project for insurance? Manuel, Dysert, Scott. I think I like Dysert most out of those three - Manuel is too much of a scrambler and Scott has been pegged as a Wildcat QB. I know we have other needs this draft and often late-round QBs don't work out but we may find Flacco isn't worth the money we pay him a few years down the line. Just a thought.

One of these things is not like the others....

I was going to suggest popularity since that is all the pro-bowl is about these days, but even Cowboys fans don't like Romo so I don't know. Maybe it's better to throw his name than say Philip Rivers at this point, but why not go with Ben R?

Agreed, either him or Eli? I just thought it was odd. Maybe the writer is a cowboys fan?

Joe needs to get what he can get and the Ravens need to only pay what they can to keep a contender. Negotiations suck. Some people love it and others (like me) hate it.

This contract thing is becomming a distraction.

Especially in time of SUPERBOWL.

Joe Linta sure is a complete idiot. The guy doesn't give a you-know-what whether Ravens win or lose. Can the guy wait at least a few week before derailing the teams focus on the ultimate prize?

A distraction for who? I doubt that the team is focusing on it. And, believe me, Linta cares if the Ravens win. A Super Bowl winning QB gets paid a whole lot more.

It is a distraction for the team, and well for everyone else. You worry about those things after the season is over. Isnt it common sense to wait till season is over to talk about contracts? Players should be worried and focused solely on the game. Not his money, or media attention from his contracts.

If you follow the trait of Joe Linta, he always drive up the price the moment Flacco gets a good game. Linta does not give a rats arse about Ravens organization. If he did, he wouldn't be asking for balking 20mill p.year. That would destroy our organization for long term.

Yeah but no one is talking except Linta. Flacco and the organization are even listening at this point. It's not like they're sitting down discussing a contract amidst the Super Bowl. It's just talk from the agent. No involvement with the team or Flacco at this point.

i say since all these teams want to run the 'unstoppable' pistol offense and read option we should be able to trade Tyrod for a first or second round pick.

I'll bet once SB is over, Joe will fire Linta in a heartbeat; bunch of agents are lining up for Joe....

Agreed. I doubt anyone is even talking about it with Flacco besides the media.

It's motivation for Flacco.
