As reported by John Clayton on ESPN yesterday "Bad news for Baltimore fans.....Joe Flacco is looking for a deal in the $20 million dollar a year range minimum - very possibly MORE than that.."
:bye: any extra cap money.

Well as long as we win the Super Bowl Lewis, Reed, and Birk will retire so that frees up some space. We need to re-sign Ellerbe and Kruger. Can't see us keeping Cary Williams because of the immense depth at corner we now have. So hopefully that is enough space...if not, he will be franchised no doubt.

There is not enough $ for a contract of that size and Ellerbe and Kruger. He will be "franchised" by February to allow 4-5 more months to negotiate, but a deal will get done. I see little chance he plays on the tag this year.

I will say though, $20M+ is ludicrous!!!

A report less than two weeks ago said he only wanted 14. Not sure which to believe. There is no way he'll actually get that deal.

Come on Joe. Hopefully he can settle for around 17mil. I see Ellerbe as a bigger need than Kruger, but if we can keep both, all the better.

20 Million is way too high. I would say just franchise him for next year. We may have to lose Kruger but I see no other way.

Eh I'm not worried. Just a week ago they reported Joe was willing to leave money on the table for other positions. This is all Linta, not Joe.

Just as we all panicked and talked about life without Rice when it was reported he wanted Peterson money or better.

Fortunately Joe is a reasonable guy. The agent's job is to get as much as possible. I'm guessing Joe having the final say will move that number where it needs to be for the good of the team, but still paying Joe very, very well.

I love all the panic that settles in. It's just Linta manipulating rumors to put himself in the best possible position for contract talks. Joe will end up on a contract with 18Mill at the very most.

I still I think Joe Flacco will end-up with a contract that's worth somewhere in the $17-$18 million range, per year, that's stretched out for about 7-or-8 years.

It's rumor, so I don't believe it; also, we have one of the best FOs on the league, so I have no worry of keeping Joe forever as the Ravens.....I think we have enough money to keep key players...Joe is very reasonable person like Rice...the Price is Right!!!

Peyton Manning is making 20 million a year. No way Joe should get that much.
no he's not Peyton is making less than 20 mil. 5 years 96 mil. Do the math.
no way manning should earn that based on his playoff record, i think flac is at least a top 5 qb in the league, he's young so why not?

The number one rule to negotiating is not asking for too much but settling for too little. It's normal to set an unrealistic price you want for your commodity in order to negotiate down to what you "really wanted" all along. If you get more then what you really wanted, then that's just gravy. Peyton's contract with Denver is 5 years $96 million.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/peyton-manning-and-denver-broncos-reach-deal-on-96-million-contract/2012/03/20/gIQAOPLZPS_blog.html

Peyton has a championship next to his resume. However Matt Ryan could land a multiple year deal worth $100 million and he doesn't have a championship yet. So if Joe does win next week, one hundred million could be considered within the range for a superbowl winning franchise QB. On a side note, Matt Ryan isn't worth $100 million. He's only won one playoff game in his career.

I wouldn't mind reading this article on Feb 4th win or lose. But nothing should be a distraction until after the game. Timing is ALL wrong for this!!
My thoughts exactly, save all these reports and mumbo jumbo until after the 'ship. Linta needs to be quiet right now.
