Some of the best news of the offseason - not that the Jets as a whole were a threat with Revis anyway, but I like the fact that our receivers will only have to face Revis once or twice in their careers now

I dont like Revis at all. He will play two years into his contract and then demand for an even larger one. He epitomizes greed.

$16 million per year should keep Revis happy.

Tampa Bay had a boatload of cap and decided to spend a bunch on the best Cb, but that was before the knee injury.

Also, having no guarantees protects them, but Revis would be stupid to try holdout on that much money.

Jets got the compensation, but have to draft well to replace the talents they lost on the team.

I say a win for both teams.

I wonder who they will draft with the 9th and 13th?

I say the Jets try to draft down the 9th to one of the teams that's trying to trade up. Then with the picks they get, they could replenish heir roster as best as possible.

They're going to get a pass rusher and there's plenty of choices. Mingo, Ansah, Jones, Werner, Carradine, and others.

WR is a need and they can get Austin, Hopkins, Allen or others.

A new QB like Barkley could be on their radar, since he fits the WCO offense well.

They already got a good core players like Ferguson, Harris, Mangold, Wilkerson, and Cromartie.

I heard David Harris and Santonio Holmes are next on the chopping block if they can't perform well this year. after this year, the dead money goes down and so does their chance on the team. Jets are on rebuilding mode and Sanchez will be gone after next year, if he keeps playing poorly.

Not every team is good at finding talent at the bottom of the first like we are, apparently.

We didn't have a ton of luck picking at the bottom of the first either.

I pretty much count Courtney Upshaw as a bottom of the first pick, and he's been great so far as a run-stopper.

Ray/Ed were also low firsts, as was Todd Heap.

Sure, but the jury is still out on Jimmy Smith and I am not sure he was worth that 1st round pick. That's the pick, that most of all springs to my mind. I am certainly not complaining about Oher or Grubbs.

I think one of the reason why teams have trouble drafting is because the coaching staff and the front office don't have synergy like our team. Also, Ozzie had a lot of practice and having DeCosta helps a lot too. The continuity of the organization helps with Harbaugh and Ozzie being together for now their 6th year. Some teams are on their third regime in the past 5 years (Browns). That type of turnover really messes up the long-term project of the team.

I honestly believe the 49ers trade up to the 13th pick by giving up their 31st overall & 33rd overall picks to the Jets to draft Kenny Vaccaro. That's a major area of weakness on that team. They are in a win-now mode. No way they don't do it. I think it's happening. I would place money on it if I could.

I think pick #13 is just right, too. No way Vaccaro gets past the Panthers. No way.

Kenny Vaccano isn't that special.

If they're going to trade up for Vaccano, then why not just stay at their spots and double up on two of these safeties of Eric Reid, John Cyprien, Matt Elam, or D.J. Swearinger.

Getting two of those guys is much better than trading away those picks for Vaccano.

If they're trading up, then it's probably a very good player like Sharrif Floyd, Star Lotulelei, or even Chance Warmack.

6 year, $96M deal with NONE guaranteed. That's insane. Why did Revis and his agent agree to that? IMO, that's just stupid.

The trade was also only this years first rounder and a conditional 3rd or 4th in 2014. That's a lot less than I was expecting.

Yeah essentially it is a one year $16M deal with option year for the next five years. Plus they only gave up so little, Tampa robbed The Jets.

If this was the Ravens making the trade I'd say they won the deal by a mile with two early first round picks.  And the Jets history (surpisingly they've had 3 drafts since 2000 with multiple first rounders and I'd say hit on all of those players except Vernon Gholston) suggests good things when they have multiple picks, but IDK - I can't recall any of the Jets' draft picks in the Rex Ryan era actually amounting to anything.

I love what Tampa is building even though I still feel that trading up for Milliner on Thursday Night would have been the better and cheaper option.

It would have been cheaper, but Revis is only 27 and I'm sure they checked his knee out before they signed him.  Corners take a few years to fully develop, so I think they looked at it as getting 5-6 years of elite play from Revis right now when it might take 2 years for any corner they picked in the draft to become that shut down guy.

jimmy smith was considered almost on a par with Peterson and a top 10 pick on talent but minor off field issues caused him to fall. He was considered a steal at 26. Have no idea what you are taking about there saying he wasn't worth a first

Has Ronde Barber retired yet?

Maybe we can give him a call since he wasn't that bad for his old age last season.

However I think Ozzie wants to draft a safety to fill the hole in the secondary.

Jets fix their cap
They get potential for rebuilding
They got rid of a player who is worth nothing to them next year
Revis is coming off of a horrible injury in a speed driven position
Oh, and there's the fact that the Jets still ranked highly against pass defense without him.

That's a very...Ozzie-esque move if you ask me.

Jets are rebuilding alright. They have to hit the #13 pick, since they need another Revis type player to win the trade.

I say they land Chance Warmack since they lost both their starting Guards and Warmack has one of the highest chance to be a good pro for ten years.

I think Jimmy has started working harder too. Pees did an interview about a month ago and mentioned how Jimmy has been a constant presence at The Castle.

Revis is ridiculously overpaid, but good for the Bucs since they can afford that type of money.

Revis will get his hands full since the high powered offenses reside in the NFC South.

My Dad coached with Idzik YEAAAAAAAARS ago in Scotland.

Weird to think a guy that coached with my Dad just traded Darrelle Revis.
