I know we're in the Super Bowl so draft talk is early but I need to kill some time in these next two weeks. Anyways, I was reading about a Middle Linebacker named Andrew Jackson. He's predicted to be a second round pick. He's from Ray Lewis' hometown and has modelled his game after him. Also, he's the only Inside Linebacker I found ranked that high on analysts big boards that was among the top in the NCAA in solo tackles and tackles for loss. Check him out and let me know what you think.

This should be in the draft forum.
But I'll check him out.

I like Andrew Jackson a lot but we won't get a chance at him until at least 2014 NFL Draft because he returned to school.

Isn't he only a sophomore?

It said JR on NCAA.com. Didn't know he was staying. Too bad.

Nah I like Kevin Minter, Te'o or Alec Ogle Tree as Lewis' replacement.

You know what's better than having a Ray Lewis?

It's having two Ray Lewises. :plus-un2:

Anyways, we're going to draft one ILB in this draft and if Andrew Jackson is around our pick next, we can take him too. However, good ILB are like a dime in a dozen, but Ray Lewis ILBs, you can find spots to put them.

Heck we can have a 230 lb Ray lewis at SS

A 240 lb Ray Lewis in the middle

A 260 lb Ray Lewis at OLB/DE

Maybe A Ray Lewis as a fullback.

Of course you can put them all on special teams and watch the reaction on the returner.

Arthur brown over others

This.

Jackson is not an ILB for today's NFL. He is massive, weighing over 260 lbs and that shows up in his game. He is a purely downhill player with limited range. Not what we need even if he did declare.

He might be an option next year if he drops some weight and improves his ability to cover and move laterally. What I have seen of him this year is not attractive.

This made my night!

I admittedly haven't seen a lot of Arthur Brown, but it sounds like he's been a big part of Kansas State's impressive defence this past season (physically and emotionally). It looks like Ogletree's more athletic in coverage, but I really like Brown's physicality. A lot of mocks have him as a late second rounder - do you or anyone else agree with that? And if not, is he really worth a first when there are some nice safeties and linemen out there?

I think Brown, Te'o & Minter are all three 1st round talents but I think one or even two of them go in the 2nd due to how ILBs are undervalued unless they are an elite prospect coming out of the NCAA. Someone like Kuechly.

I don't think Brown will make it to us at 62 when we pick in the 2nd. I can see the Bills taking him with their 2nd pick depending on their first pick (they could take a QB if they pass for one in the 1st). The Bills might be a trade partner for us to move back but that's another thread. I think Brown has a safe chance of being there in the between picks 1-16 of the 2nd. The Steelers need an ILB but also need a NT & possibly OLB. They also need a safety to replace a declining Polamalu.
