Merged: Fan feelings on our upcoming Super Bowl

149 posts in this topic

I hope the team is about as PO'd as i am with all the negative media on our team its getting sickening the media making the Ravens into the Villain and trying to diminish what they have achieved getting fed up. I dreamed of 24/7 media coverage of our boys and how they got here but its turned into another hate fest between Ashley fox a few weeks ago to PFT with this gem today : http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/30/ray-lewis-wanted-to-give-you-a-last-chance-to-thank-him/

At the risk of sounding whiny and probably making a few of our Niners visitors mad, I need to get this off my chest. I have said it once and I will say it again. This isn't the Niners and Ravens at Super Bowl 47. It may as well be the Niners at the Super Bowl because the Ravens are not getting an ounce of the coverage the Niners are. I just left NFL.com which I am staying away from for now and for every one article I see about the Ravens whether it's Flacco or Lewis there are ten talking about the NIners. How they are preparing Kaepernick, the switch between QB's, their Defense, what makes Smith and Kaepernick different and now there is a big picture of him shirtless and they are talking about his tattoos. Went to the gym and all the sports networks are covering the NIners and then the Ravens get five minutes. I just am getting sick of the bias of the media and I am ready for this game to get here and get underway! Maybe it's just me but it's getting old. I still have the respect for the Niners and they are a great football team. It's just some Ravens coverage would be cool other than Ray's accusation. Ok I am done venting...for now.

There were plenty of good Ravens articles up yesterday, including one about how the Wizard of Oz built the team to Super Bowl ready.

It will never happen. The Ravens could go undefeated and win the Super Bowl and they still wouldn't be given any credit. The media would cover what the losing team did wrong. Not what the Ravens did right.

I don't know. I'm really enjoying ALL of the coverage on the Super Bowl. Its been a blast being able to soak it all in during Super Bowl week.

Who cares about who gives who credit. Who's giving who respect. If you let it bother you, you'll see it a lot more of those things.

Bottom line. The Ravens are in the Super Bowl, nothing anybody can say or not say can change that. Their prerogative is their own right. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

At he risk of of sounding stupid, I wish we could have opted out of the whole media deal and just showed our faces coming out of the tunnel on game day. Spin doctors are gonna' spin and because of the historically bad press the Ravens get, the spinning will never go our way. I for one don't care as long as it has no bearing on the Team's performance.

After all they have been through, I tend to think all of this BS media BS makes the bond stronger.and the Ravens are gonna' open up a big can of whoop *** on the niners. Sorry SF fans. It's unfortunate that your team has to be the one to be in the way.

Well I thought the same thing. Media day I think is a distraction. I figured the teams had enough to worry about. Just let em practice and play. But we all know how the media is. Guess they have a job to do too. It just isn't right in my opinion. It should be 50/50 down the board.

What's funny dude is that over on the Niners message board they are saying the exact opposite of what we are here. They're complaining about Ray getting a lot of the coverage (conveniently leaving out that 90 percent of it is negative coverage), the Ravens seemingly 'miraculous' arrival in NOLA (ya know, not the hard work, dedication, blood, sweat and tears it took the team) and overall painting the Niners as super underdogs. It doesn't look that way to me, but I'm wearing those purple shades so maybe that's how it is. I think that objectively the media is lapping at both teams' heels and both teams are being painted in about the same light with all things being equal. Nothing left but to put on the pads and go go go!

I agree it is annoying, but if you have been a fan long enough, you get used to it. Just assume we are the Rodney Dangerfield of football and go with it. As that is always the case and always has been take PuRock's advice and enjoy the ride. It is just all the sweeter when we prove them wrong.

Yep, you only see what you want to see. I've been watching the NFL channel and I've thought they've done a wonderful job with splitting the coverage. At least we still have people talking about our team right now! It could be worse, we could be Buffalo/KC, etc. At least we don't have wall-to-wall coverage about Tebow either.

Hey fellow, have you ever considered not giving certain people or parties the floor. You know, those that have that unnecessary or unfair bias, like some speakers on NFL Network? I hit the "mute" button when Mr. Sapp, Evans, and Dukes speak. Also, on NBC, I do not give the confrontational Mr. Harrison the floor when he talks with his co-anchors, Mr. Dungy and Mr. Patrick. All of my behavior probably stems from Sean Salisbury many years ago when he would starts fights on air with John Clayton. As you can see, ESPN, canned the immoral Salisbury. BTW, I do the same with members here who incite rather than want to discuss football.
I guess it is not letting "negative energy" into your life, and I am a very happy and healthly person because of this practice.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be disappointed for sure if we lose, but even if so, these media outlets were still wrong as all hell. We were supposed to be overmatched by the talented Broncos and Patriots, but neither happened.

Giants fan here.

I respect your team greatly, they embody what football is supposed to be about; gritty, tough, physical no-holds barred, almost a throwback in what has now become a softened league geared towards explosive offenses and prolific scoring.

Joe Flacco reminds me of Eli in that he seems to take his game to another level when it matters most and that's something that separates the good from the great.

Now with all that said, I admittedly could never ever root for your team, and could not fathom a situation in which I would (guess you can blame SB 35 for that, lol).

But I'm on this board to wish you guys the best of luck and I hope you guys put a whupping on the San Francisco Forty Whiners. They are the biggest bunch of sourpusses I've ever heard. I sincerely hope Flacco and company lights them up, and that Ray Lewis and company punch Kapernick and his boys in the mouth en-route to a blowout win for Baltimore.

Cheers Ravens Nation and enjoy the festivities...

Thanks for the post. I like Eli and think you are right, you can draw some parallels between him and Joe. I root for the Giants twice a year, every year, when they play the skins.

I'm just worried with all the love the 49ers are getting, that something is going to be staged for the 49ers against us that they will win, or something controversial will happen against us during the game...

One game away from so many people eating their words about Flacco. If he pulls this off I wonder how Lamar will feel about having as many rings as Joe? The sad part is the offense is just beginning to take off and already have solid skill positions. We already know the FO can pick lineman. With Ozzie and Decosta reloading, this team should be fine on both sides of the ball for a while.

I really feel that we are gonna win. I just hope we are prepared and don't have a fall off, you know those famous raven games where we lose what seems to be a sure win..However, I really see this team coming together and gelling at the perfect time. If we stick to our game, we will win.

I believe that habit left with Mr. Cameron.

Dynasty.

Really early and not a word to throw out lightly. I hope and pray that this is the feeling that Steelers, Cowboys, and Pats had when their teams first started playing well. I am more concerned about our future and coaches coming and going than I am about this game. This team has moved mountains this year in offensive progression. Flacco will be signed and it all starts with a big armed gun slinger. Hearing that Caldwell is interested in returning to a head coach position bothers me. I just want our coaches to stay around longer than our players.

Back on topic- been confident in this team ever since Cam left. We have been unstoppable. Caldwell will have our players flying all over the field. 21 points up by the half and we will just be getting going. May this be the first of many Lombardi parties that we attend!!

GO RAVENS

Big respect to Eli and 've seen the parallels myself. Though still has to win his first to be in the conversation.

Thanks for your support nonetheless.
