Merged: Fan feelings on our upcoming Super Bowl

149 posts in this topic

Not worried about this game at all. Kaepernick might be playing good ball, but he is still young in the gums and I think the lights in Super Bowl are going to burn just a little too bright this early in his career. Not to mention, during his time as starter, the 49ers only faced two great defenses all season long: Bears & Seahawks.

He beat the Bears simply because Jason Campbell couldn't sustain a drive to save his life and we Ravens fans know how hard 3-and-outs can be on a defense over an extended period. As for the Seahawks, well, they just made him look silly.

Granted, the Ravens didn't finish high up in the regular season defense statistics but once we got all of our starters back, we were ranked 4th (or 7th?) over the last five weeks (not to mention we rested most of our starters in Week 17).

I think Kaepernick is going to have a very rough going against our rejuvenated defense. He'll be able to move the ball down the field, but once he gets into the redzone... the Ravens D will close the door on him. I do not see him running that close to the endzone for one reason: Pollard.

Don't you find it funny that many complain all the time about little or no exposure in the media and now this?
My thoughts exactly. Double standard much?

Well, it really doesn't start in earnest until Tuesday. Is there such a thing as Ravens Overload? Lol!

Its more exposure and media overload. Im already sick of the speculation and predictions and all that crap. In the end none of that matters. Just make the media completely shut up about it for a week,

Just tired of all of the talk and stats and interviews. Ready just to play the game.
It's in the journey... not the destination. "Where else would you rather be???" Where were we this time last year? Thank God that we still part of all the interviews and stats. Relish all the hype.. another purple friday - AND IT'S A PURPLE FRIDAY IN FEBRUARY!

I really feel that we are gonna win. I just hope we are prepared and don't have a fall off, you know those famous raven games where we lose what seems to be a sure win..However, I really see this team coming together and gelling at the perfect time. If we stick to our game, we will win.

The excitement of the Ravens playing in the Super Bowl is starting to set in!

I just hope the guys can remain focused. When I read that Ray Lewis told the team not to get excited about the Lombardi trophy because they hadn't earned that priviledge yet, I was encouraged. Now I see the media playing on the social agendas of a couple of the players and how they are using their trip to the SB to promote those topics.

Scares me that there are a couple of key players being distracted.

players train sacrifice etc there entire career for this shot at the lombardi no way they blow it now .I love the media attention the ravens are getting however would it kill one analyst/pundit/commentator to say the ravens are going to win. even mock drafts have us losing this game and picking at 31. its frustrating to get this far and still get no respect.

I have to 100% agree with this. When I hear people outside of here say they're not watching the Superbowl because the game is going to suck...I think they are either Steelers' fans, or they truly don't know football.
the weird thing about steeler fans they are cheering for the ravens to win, maybe its a divisional thing .even so its unnerving.

I can think of two Ravens fans out here in Indiana: CRP and me, so that makes this unbelievable journey somehat lonely.

This still feels very surreal....I still feel like I dreamed that AFC Championship game and my night at work...

After so many years of seeing other teams go the distance, all I can say is

this is our time. Bring it home, guys!!!

Not all of them. I've been told point blank by a few Steelers fans out here that they're cheering for the Niners. My response has always been "Have fun on the bandwagon. I wouldn't want you cheering for my Ravens anyway."

I feel like this is the common reaction I'm seeing from opposing team fans and a fair portion of the media:

I've also seen some pretty cool articles about Joe and his upbringing and coming of age, so it hasn't all seemed like petty crap, but a lot of it has been too. Just that that picture was pretty funny when I saw it posted by a Falcons fan elsewhere.

Rather pathetic you aren't sending ALL your cheerleaders to the Superbowl. Really? You're only sending 3rd year cheerleaders, bussing them AND making them stay 5/6 to a room. How pathetic & cheap is that? They work for virtually no pay, pay for part of their uniforms & support the Ravens organization & team all year. Not to mention the Ravens organization makes thousands off their calendar each year. With all that's going on & the hype it's pathetic how cheap you're being. Send them all!! San Fran 49ers are sending all of their cheerleaders!!!
Really! With all that's happening your biggest concern is the cheerleaders? If you gave me a chance to watch the 9ers in the Super Bowl (awesome on it's own) in NO, I would stay at the YMCA and eat at a soup kitchen and still be happy. C' mon this is football, not teen TV.

I can't wait to see our Ravens win this Super Bowl! It's been an awesome season and there is literally no better way to see it end, especially with Ray Lewis leaving us.

Can't say I feel anxious... not like I was over the Broncos and Pats games. Quite frankly, I don't think I've ever been so anxious in my life.. let alone for a football game.. let alone two weeks in a row. It's like we've already done the hard part.. accomplished the impossible.. to get here - getting past that last hurdle. We got here the hard way and they have been brilliant. I shouldn't rest my confidence on these laurels.. that just has never been the Ravens way. I like that we're underdogs with something to prove to the world. I think maybe once I start seeing interviews from NOLA this week, the brevity of it all will again begin to work on my cardio/pulminary and nervous systems. Let the countdown begin.. tomorrow is not Monday, January 28 - it is 6 Days Til The Superbowl!!!
It's hit me but ot fully.I think of all the growing pains we've been through the last couple years and the way this year went, its amazing how were here now. I agree with you,I'm not as nervous as I was against the broncos.Don't think I've ever been that nervous for any football game.

I honestly still don't think this has set in yet for me. Yeah i went and bought the AFC Champions hat/shirt, but its still crazy to me that we are actually, GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! It's been a long 12 years. I was 10 the last time we won it all, so i remember it, but faintly. I've obviously watched that game multiple times since then. But its nice to just finally be back in it. And it makes it 100 times better that its for Ray, for Art, for Torrey's brother, for OJ Brigance, and for Ravens Nation as a whole.
I feel the same way!! And I was also wondering about the AFC Champs gear...IF the Ravens don't win the Superbowl (sorry, I'm just trying not to get too excited...plus it worked for the Denver and NE game ;) how does everyone feel about wearing AFC Champs stuff after the game? Do you feel like its wearing 2nd place stuff? I don't know, but I would feel proud wearing it knowing our team made it to the biggest game on the planet...especially since its Ray's last season and they overcame their demons from the AFC game 1 year ago. Any thoughts on this?

I'll be proud to wear it, regardless. It's quite an accomplishment. I've already bought quite a bit of AFC Championship stuff but will really dig deep in the pockets if we win the Super Bowl.

I never understood the idea that winning the conference championship isn't something to celebrate. It means you were better than every other team in your conference, and it's damn right something to be proud of!

Second place may be first loser, as they say, but we're still first place among the 15 other teams in our conference, and there's 30 other teams that didn't do as well as we did.

The Steelers fans and 49ers fans are making a stink about which would be more impressive, 6-0 or 6-2, and in my opinion the clear best answer, perhaps to the ire of Ravens nation, is that 6-2 is better. Why? Well, because in any given season, it's better to win your conference than NOT to win it, and all other things being equal, the Steelers had two seasons where they won their conference while the 49ers still sat at home, which makes their stat more impressive to me.

Well said! Winning it all would obviously be unbelievable, but i think just having your favorite team be in the worldwide spotlight is awesome. Especially for the Ravens who always seem to be the underdog and get snubbed by the media.
