Depending on how Webb looks after his second surgically repaired knee he might be slid to safety. He played safety in college and would transition well. I'm just holding my breath that he'll come back and still be shutdown.
Good point. Webb might have to be moved over to safety, so that he won't strain his surgically repaired shoving space-eaters.

Coverage wise I notice when Jimmy is in his name isn't called much which is a good thing. Teams target Chykie but he does pretty well. If he can tighten up coverage it will help immensely. He isn't on the field often enough for me to tell. When a guy rotates in at corner you usually hope you don't hear his name called meaning he has good coverage.

You don't hear about pass defenders unless they make a mistake, generally.

I have honestly seen enough bad plays from Chykie to warrant me wanting to see our former 1st round pick Jimmy Smith bak in there. If we are going to gamble on two players who make similar mistakes, why not gamble on the one who has the size/physicality/speed/demeanor etc.etc.

Moving Webb over to FS would soften the blow of a possibly retiring Ed Reed.

Webb = Reed 2.0

Except that a CB is more difficult to replace than a FS. Especially one as good as Webb.

You don't move a shutdown corner. If he comes back and has some difficulty after his injury, then you consider it. A CB is much harder to find than a FS. There's also way too much uncertainty at CB to just move Webb.

It sucks that we paid Webb all that money and he blows out his knee. His value would've went down dramatically if he played under his tender. Good thing he got paid before all this happen, same thing with Foxworth. ACL injuries are one of the longest rehabilitation for players who needs to cut and burst. However, Webb did show hard work and determination when he recovered from his first tear by being at the castle everyday trying to get back on his feet. Next year, Webb won't be back to full strength so somebody has to step up.

We have to see if Webb does make a full recovery and is back to his Football Focus Top 10 CB status. it's a shame he never got an All-Pro or a Pro-Bowl bid, even though we're paying him like one.

Webb is a natural ball-hawk and belongs roaming the field. And just because he isn't playing the CB position per-se, does not mean he won't be shutting players down.

We have a plethora of good Corner's who although haven't developed as quickly and as smooth as Webb has, they have the traits to be impact players.

I'm not ruling out a possibility of him returning to the outside position, it's just an opinion. Theres no telling how Webb will recover from his injury so only time will tell how he will be utilized in the secondary.

It would probably be safer to keep Webb where he is for now.

We don't have a good plethora of corners.

Cary Williams likely won't be re-signed.
Corey Graham has 1 year left on his deal.
Jimmy Smith is still a bit of an unknown.
Chykie Brown has played fairly well, but won't be better than a 3rd CB.
Asa Jackson is a complete unknown.

Why would you move a premiere talent off a position that is incredibly hard to find an impact player? FS, on the other hand, is much easier to find. Will we get another Ed Reed? No, but we can find someone that can at least make an impact in the later rounds or in free agency. Webb is best suited to stay where he has excelled.

Why do so many people feel like we are strong at corner?

I feel this could be possibly our weakest position going into next year

Unless Jimmy comes out of nowhere and starts playing halfway decent

You are not alone. But then again I always want to draft OL/CB.

Damn, Chykie Brown's foul on David Akers could've cost BAL the game. But, no harm, no foul!
Was there a foul or was it Akers just auditioning for a role?

Brown is a bit raw, but has potential.

Anyone know anything about how Asa Jackson has been doing?
Keeping to himself. Hopefully, he'll continue to pump iron without pumping steroids so the Ravens can actually get to see him in action.

Just to throw this in the mix:

A ref that wasn't ref-ing this game said it shouldn't have been called running into the kicker.

Akers really sold the hit, he should've been a soccer player! That, and he could kick.
Also said the late hit on Flacco was a flag. Who is this guy? Is he an NFL ref? It just seems odd for an NFL official to cut off another NFL official at the knees like this. It's usually the league's MO to circle the wagons when it comes to calls.

Jackson wasn't caught using steroids. It was Aderall, which is used to increase concentration.
